Subject: (yello) interview
Date: 05 May 1999 19:56:24 +0200
hello,
in the swiss magazine "Cash" http://www.cash.ch/cash/ca_archiv/arvt_frm.htm
you can read an interview with Dieter Meier - also about =ABThe Lightmaker=
=BB
",
oh yeah ;-)! Enjoy it! in german...
Regards
Daniel
http://www.cash.ch/cash/ca_archiv/arvt_frm.htm
=ABFilm ist ein Massenmedium=BB, h=E4lt Dieter Meier, Yello-Musiker und=
inzwischen
k=F6nnen.
=ABThe show=
must
go on.=BB
http://www.cash.ch/cash/ca_archiv/arvt_frm.htm
Autor: Marc Bodmer, Michael L=FCtscher=20
f=E4llt
besch=E4ftigt.
gestellt.=20
CASH: Wir bekommen also wieder einmal einen Yello-Soundtrack zu h=F6ren?=20
Meier: Richtig.
vorgeschlagen. Leider reichte es nicht. Der Film war auch nur mittelm=E4ssig
erfolgreich.=20
v=F6llig
Wurst, wie bekannt ich bin. Ich will nur die M=F6glichkeit haben, Filme zu
machen. Und ich will sie dort machen, wo die Filmindustrie the industry=
heisst
CASH: Was bringt das?=20
Meier: Filmemachen in Hollywood ist Auftragskunst. Der Auftrag ist=
eigentlich
ganz einfach: Filme m=FCssen Geld machen. In diesem kompromisslosen
kennt.=20
In Hollywood gibt=
es
einen Markt, wo Talente wahrgenommen werden.=20
CASH: Klingt fast zu sch=F6n. Wie muss man sich das vorstellen?=20
Meier: Illustrativ ist folgendes Beispiel: Vor gut zw=F6lf Jahren klopfte be=
i
=FCr
seine
Arbeit am Film =ABJFK=BB von Oliver Stone. Es war Pietro Scalia. In=
Seit sieben Jahren erlieg=
e
stossen
werde.=20
=ABThe
Lightmaker=BB.=20
stellen. Das ist bei mir nicht der Fall. Der wichtigste Grund f=FCr die
Verz=F6gerung
In=
ich will.=20
CASH: Sie sehen in =ABThe Lightmaker=BB Ihr Ticket f=FCr die Traumwelt
Hollywood. Inzwischen warten alle auf das Werk. Der Erwartungsdruck
w=E4chst. Wie gehen Sie damit um?=20
Meier: Eigentlich sehr spielerisch.
wo
ich an Texten herumwerkeln kann. Ich habe mich nie darauf versteift, etwas=
zu
erreichen.=20
makers=BB
abh=E4ngig.
=FCr
mich.
wollen.=20
ihnen will. Da bringe ich meine Klappe nicht auseinander. Bei einem solchen
Nachtessen w=FCrde mir jeder Bissen im Hals stecken bleiben. Lieber w=FCrde=
verkaufen
k=F6nnen. L=E4sst sich das P=E4ckchen H=F6rnli auf dem Gestell verkaufen?=
Will das
jemand?
Hollywood unterkommt.=20
k=F6nnen. Ein
kommt.=20
In Hollywood sagt man: =ABHe=
can
make the calls.=BB Das heisst, er kennt die Power-Broker.
In Hollywood
Verkaufschancen entscheidend.
messbar
in
einem Kasino. Man muss blank ins Kasino gehen. Da k=F6nnen sie dir nichts
wegnehmen.
Was dabei herauskommt, ist ihm gleich.
trat.=20
=ABMarylin, My Love=
=BB
CASH: Werden Sie weitere Filme produzieren?=20
=20
CASH: Die sind wahrlich selten.=20
Meier: Hollywood produziert j=E4hrlich 400'000 Skripts. Die sind in erster=
Linie
Schrott.
wichtigen Faktoren Drehbuch, Regisseur, Schauspieler, Zeitgeist, Vermarktung
ist.=20
CASH: Zum Gl=FCck.=20
Was interessiert die
Leute im
Moment?
von =ABLightmaker=BB in Z=FCrich statt?=20
t
ist.=20
Ein Mann mit vielen Eigenschaften=20
=B7 =ABEtwas nicht zu k=F6nnen=BB, sagte Dieter Meier, 54, einmal, =ABist,=
=FCberzogen
Z=FCrcher Bankierssohn war Gl=FCcksspieler, bet=E4tigte sich in den=
Siebzigerjahren
Streifen,
eine =ABneoexpressionistische Barockoper=BB, heisst inzwischen =ABThe=
Lightmaker=BB
gemeinsamen Kinder in Z=FCrich wohnen.=20

The translation is :
"I am of the opinion that the film will be ready for release some time
in August."
Hope this helps.
I used to live in Germany, and saw Dieter on a few of the Friday night
talk shows. Always enjoyed the stuff he had to say, even if none of it
was about Yello, or even music.

Hi All,
I'm very sorry that I'm posting this off topic question -(but not sorry
enough, I guess)
The other haft of the Group Soft Cell, Dave Ball, did a solo album (In
Strict Tempo) after breaking up with Marc Almond.
It got terrible reviews andprobably was terrible. I've only heard one songe
from it, Rednecks. And that one was pretty bad.
Does anybody have that album? I'd like to hear the whole thing. Also, If
anybody has it and could make a MP3 out of Rednecks, I'd be very happy.
Thanks
Bo,
Also, I'm on the lookout of an early 80's album by swedish Caramba. It was a
major hit at least in Scandinavia, but I think also in the rest of Europe -
Hubba Hubba Zoot Zoot was the hit.
Does anybody have MP3's or know where I can get this album?
Thanks (again)
Bo

Hi,
Although offtopic, this may also help tracking down Yello items...
If you are looking for specific things, I would suggest using the boolean
search option of Altavista, http://www.altavista.com/ and enter
keyword +secondkeyword +thirdkeyword
(or as may keywords as is) and you may be surprised just how well this
narrows down the search. Also one or two record collecting sites put in
label numbers, so the discography comes in very useful.
If you look for Yello alone, you'll get 100's of useless matches, but try
yello +vicous +games and if that record is for sale on the 'net
somewhere, Altavista will find it for you. It'll work with label numbers
and model numbers as well.
Finally, try http://www.bolton.org.uk/discovery.html as this may just be
the sort of thing they'll have in their 'remaindered' stock and it may be
pretty cheap.
Good luck! Nic

Reverse Lion is always used as a background tune for the radio programme "2

That's the only one I can think of now. Apart from that of course Oh Yeah
and The Race are used every now and then in television programmes.

I would like to post answers to questions people ask me about Yello FTP.
There are no ratios, download limits, etc.
Uploads are welcome! I just installed a new hard drive. As of today it has
about 9 GB available.
By the way, we still don't have all songs from "Eccentrix".
This is one fact from the FTP life.
From my previous post:
Once more, Yello FTP info:
address:
for browsers:
ftp://yourlogin:yourpassword@yello.dhs.org or
http://yourlogin:yourpassword@yello.dhs.org
for FTP clients:
yello.dhs.org
If you wish, you can use IP address instead of yello.dhs.org
134.231.12.8
All uploads go to "incoming" directory.
From event log on my FTP machine:
The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account 'yourlogin' due
to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad
password.
The data is the error code.
I have no comments.
