Sorry Jonas, but that sounds like "the mad professor takes over to rule the world!"
Do you really think, that a Yello newsgroup will affect any decision made by record
companies. Not even Boris & Dieter or Peter V. have enough power to make
the releases they wish. Take f.e. the "Eccentrics" album. They need to release something
to fulfill the treatment with the company.
Why do you really want to get so many people on your list ?
Do you need that for your sponsors ?
It is your business where you spread your Yello-news,
but I know that you are not the only source for information.
Remember: You did not give us the info about the exact track list for "eccentrix"
So someone else did it
Sorry, but that is the law of the internet
- - no borders, but the freedom to say what you want

I do not quite understand how a news list (one way information, coming =
from/controlled by one person) can become a power factor for Yello fans? =
Please explain.
Everybody on this list know you have access to exclusive and very =
interesting/useful information regarding Yello, but do you really need =
your own news/mailing list to publish (I'm tempted to say 'show') this? =
And why did you suddenly change your mind on posting "important news" to =
both lists?
> To join, go to http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/yello-news
I'm not planning to (yet) - I like this list, and one list is enough for =
me. Hopefully, it will still be updated with all the information that is =
available on our favourite band. The best would of course be if you =
continued to publish information on this list, since you, as mentioned =
before, have a lot of Yello news to share.

Per-Stian

Surfing around, I one day stumbled across this... Strange comment, as I =
always thought Yello's "sound" was considered as very high quality, even =
among those who doesn't like their music?
http://www.hyperreal.org/intersection/zines/est/reviews/musrevs2.html
"The problem is that the drum machine, synthesiser and processed vocals =
tend to lack any kind of body or energy, not to mention often needing a =
better rounded mix, and as a result they hark back to the thinner =
sounding music of Kraftwerk or Yello rather than the vibrant, healthy =
sound of today's LFO or 808 State."

Some dolt recently wrote in the Guardian that Yello have never done =
anything innovative and have always been content to follow trends. Well, =
one Listen to Stella and The New Mix In One Go would demolish that =
rather flimsy proposition, but it is true to say that Messrs Blank and =
Meier have been resting on their laurels of late, the lacklustre Zebra =
and the awful remix album being cases in point suggesting they've spent =
for too much time on the golf course. Pocket Universe, however is very =
much a return to form and finds the boys adding a few experimental =
touches to the true Yello formula whilst ruminating on science's failure =
to explain the universe to us. Boris Blank conjures some of the most =
impressive soundscapes of his career particularly the stygian vistas of =
Monolith and the grandiose gothic monstrosity Liquid Mountain. On their =
day there's few to match Blank's cinematic vision and Meier's eccentric =
improvisations and even when they take on psychedelic trance, on the =
extraordinary Celsius and punishing Resistor, they stamp it with they =
own inimitable style. Magical in every sense of the word. NG

Subject: RE: (yello) Yello News List
Surely we're not in this loop again?
Why ANOTHER list?
So some of the discussion of late has included irrelevant material (jokes
etc.), but if there was a Yello convention held in some room, we wouldn't
all just be "Yello , Yello , Yello ...", we would be human and talk about
other things, tell a few jokes.
I assume this list has some junk advert associated with it.
I abhor this intrusion so much, I registered my own web domain at my
expense for my work.
The current list is fine for disseminating Yello information, it's up to
the owner of the list to reprimand anyone going too far off topic, or do
we want a moderated list?
I'm fairly sure on a couple of occasions, messages have appeared on this
list that I have not seen the original posting, and it's generally been a
flame. I'm sure Yello themselves would not condone this sort of
behaviour, and would expect their fans to act with some level of decorum
when discussing their work.
Multiple lists will only make the problem worse, half heard conversations
misinterpreted and list members of (which list?) falling out online,
while we witness the arguments?
I'd rather unsubscribe. One list, one source of information please.
Some of us may have access to more information, but that does not give
that person the right to think they are superior to anyone else on this
list, we are all equal, and it is no basis for setting up their own
infomation distribution channels. That's how propaganda starts.
I know now who will object to what I say in this, but by whose authority
do you act? Ask that question of yourself. Fill my mailbox with flames,
but what exactly will that prove? I do not claim to be right, but I know
what is common sense.
My suggestion is to precede the subject. e.g. NEWS:, ANN:, RUMOUR:. Also,
it's helpful if YELLO is not used as a subject in itself!
To drag this kicking and screaming back to Yello, I'm going to try
Frontstage or get my copy of Eccentrix, but so far I've had some problems
getting my Netscape (V3 Gold OpenVMS VAX) to accept the certificates.
Anyone had any luck with Frontstage? (to private email unless it's
relevant please).
Regards to all
Nic

Normally I don't pay attention to email virus warnings because most of
them are bogus, but my usually "anti-virus warning" listserv was making
such a big hubbub about it, I decided to check it out.
If you get an email from anyone with the attachment file "happy99.exe"
or something similar, DO NOT RUN IT!!!!!!!! It will display a seemingly
harmless fireworks show and then the fun begins. Once infected, the
virus will automatically send itself out over your emails to your
friends. Go to this site to learn more. This has happened to several
people on a listserv I subsribe to. I appologize if this post is
against the list's rules.

Sorry Jonas - this was not meant to confuse you, it was only a wrong
mail preference setting caused
by one of my colleagues. Now this mail should have the correct address.
I do not want to start a new discussion about your news list.
I only wanted to make it clear, that if you are not willing
to share new information on this list, someone else will do it .
So for me I see no advantage in changing the list or having two different
lists.
b.t.w. I fully agree with Nic's mail about this list.

Subject: (yello) Question about Vinyl
Hello all,
About 8 months ago I managed to buy some Yello music on vinyl (Vicious
Games, Goldrush (one of my fav's) and Live at the Roxy (at last!)), but my
record player wasn't working (talk about frustration!). I finally find out
what was wrong with it, and have fixed it. But I must admit that I am not
used to having music on vinyl any more, and so was wondering what the best
method is to clean them, and generally look after them.
I have listened to them, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the
sound. Does anyone else still use/prefer vinyl over a cd?
Regards,
Craig.

But surley we have freedome of choice and speak. If Jonas choose to have an
information only list, why shouldn't he. He is free to start one and you are
free to join or not to join. I can't see any evidence in any of Jonas
postings that he should have any intention to make anyone believe that he is
superior to anyone else, so please try not to make up things when you want
to make a point.
Sorry, but I always thought that propaganda started when other channels of
information was not alowed, not when there where several different channels.
