Has it really been 10 years since Flag was released? (Yes, I know it
wasn't released until late 1988). Maybe I'm showing my age (?!) but it
feels like only yesterday that I bought my first 'new' Yello album (as
opposed to older ones).

Mr Tulip stopped his pin-striped suit outside a barber shop,
looked at his face, took off his jacket, put it on the pavement,
stepped on it, and started preaching like a monk from another
world. After some minutes he had a little crowd which disappeared
when a police car passed by slowly, like rolling gloom.

Wow, I guess it has been over 10 years that I've been listening to
Yello.

I believe that "Flag" was my first new - plastic sealed vinyl -
album as well. At that point I had found "One Second" and I think
"You Gotta Say Yes..." and a bunch of 12" singles at a used shop.
When I saw the "3rd of June" subject line, I though the message may
be about the date reference itself. I always wondered if there was
any significance to it, despite the fact that the lyrics themselves
say it wasn't a special day.

Nice touch setting the date to the 3rd when you composed the message
on the 2nd.

Was it just the day the lyrics were written?

Where I was it actually *was* the 3rd. [Australia is on the better side
of the Date Line :-) ]

I just realized the version of this song on the album by The Associates
"Associates Popera: The Singles Collection" is much different than the one
on "One Second" not to mention almost two minutes longer. Is the version on
the Associates album available anywhere else?

Subject: (yello) Back from Zurich
and a fantastic experience it was. I got to meet
Boris (in his studio) four afternoons during the course
of two weeks. I'm sorry if I make any of you jealous,
but I still think many of you want to hear about it.
Apart from going through each song, step by step
(poor Boris) he also played some music from the
forthcoming Yello album (planned for early next year).
He had 25 songs "in progress" (unfinished), one
was very mystical and exciting, one was a bit jazzy,
and yet another was "normal" fantastic Yello. It's
very hard to describe them but they sounded very
dark and exciting. Most of you would have loved them!
All 25 songs will of course not be used for the album,
or even finished. He also played me some of his un-
released soundtrack music (made 'just in case'). He
was quite surprised that I knew about the unreleased
mixes of "More", and to my great delight he played them
to me (I guess he forgot what they sounded like!) and
we both agreed that they were not bad at all!! The first
two mixes were a bit Latin flavoured, then there were
some "dance" mixes too, all were amazing (quite different
from the album version). Hopefully they will be released
someday. The studio as such was full of equipment of all
sorts (only the best of course!), and the garden outside
was beautiful! I didn't meet Dieter. All in all everything
went fine and I've got tons of work to do now before the
book is finished (hopefully it will come with lots of surprises)
