Hai there,
On the Dutch tv there I saw an commercial of Mcdonalds with a tune of
??, after 2 time I recognize it as a tune of Yello ( S.A.X.) is this
right or not ? who knows more about it??
PS.
as a true HIGH-END music lover I tell you that the sound of the first
three albums/CD sounds equal, there is no major difference. The
influence of Carlos Peron Tape processing dubbing mixing is making the
recordings a little bit flate, shrill. But may be that was the purpose
of them? After Carlos Peron the sound of Yello was changed! Please
correct if I'am wrong. For me ALL the Yello albums(LP/CD) are good.

Last time I read something like: "I know the guy who makes those bumper
stickers. He hates New York"
Maybe he knows the low self esteem - or lack of it - from dutch people.
I am now back to listening to 'La Habanera' and the change of pace is quite
enjoying. Still Shane made me look for Pink Floyd for a while. Suddenly I
remembered all of my family own this one on vinyl, on CD, on cassette, but
I don't even have a single piece of it. Looking back into memory lane, I
think of looking for my tape of 'Frankie goes to hollywood'. By the way, I
recieved two responses from people about their most treasured musical
posession. This is not much so I decided to invert the choice. So here it
comes.
Ladies and Gentle men, listen very carefully.
What is - by a long shot - the worst piece of music, you ever BOUGHT.
Rules: You must have bought it out of your own free will.
Or, HOW LOW CAN YOU GO
I will set an example.
I once bought MC HAMMER. Please do not puke over your screen. There are
screensavers enough which can reach that result.
Read ya, Tom

The acid house version of Beethoven's 5th symphony. I can't even
remember the artists's name...

I understand about the noise but some people like me like the orginized noise.
To me that album is'nt very noise I have heard much worse. The studio work on
this album is amazing also.
Worst record for me just thinking lately is the new Beth Orton album. The
track that was produced by William Orbit is the only song I liked. By the way
I highly reccomend the new Madonna album it's exellent. It realy should be
called William Orbit featuring Madonna. If you are a fan of William buy it
cause I feel like I bought an Orbit album.

Worst record I ever bought may be one of the worst ever made. Digging through
a used bin one day I found a 45 of the son "Purple Haze" (Hendrix) the artist
performing this particular version was Dion. What a pile of crap. I can
imagine the engineers rolling over laughing as he belched out the lyrics,
"blue haze, all thru my mind..."

Fred

I think these people are OK, but a lot of my friends and my wife seem to think
I am strange because I have in my collection:-
Bananarama:- Greatest Hits
Nick Heywood and Haircut 100:- Greatest Hits
(Both VERY short CDs!)
Anything by Yello!
However, I think it is very interesting that at the time that you buy these
things you think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Funny how tastes
change as you get older.

Subject: (yello) Artistic License
A local (LA) radio station has taken artistic license with "Oh Yeah". They do
a weekend show called Totally 80's and one of the spots (commercials) they use
during their "normal" programming is a spoof with "Oh Yeah" in the background.
To sum it up, they play the song in the background and wrap it up with a voice
over saying something like, "Ohhhh...I have a sore throat." It's pretty lame
for LA. For anywhere.
I think an international email reply to this is called for. Maybe we can each
say that we are writing from (your country) and take offense to this. At the
same time we can suggest that they consider adding songs from "Pocket
Universe" to their playlist. Their slogan is "Today's Best Music"

Hiya!
Since I'm quite new on the list I don't know if this has been said
before, but I'll go on anyway:
The Swedish national radio network has one channel for younger listeners
(P3), which since about 5 years has used a sampled piece of "Oh Yeah" as
their "identity spot". They used the short, whispered
"Chik-e-chikaaa..."-line, but during later years they have used the
straight sample in lesser extent and instead transmutated it into
"chiketikow-wow". Most people in Sweden recognize this sample, but not
many know that it's taken directly out of a Yello song. Those whom I've
asked what they think it is, think that the radio network has done it
themselves.
