The Auctionne thinks it's the year 19100
:giggle: My technoslave is at work and down with a cold so he's no help.
Anyway, I was thinking it's a slow time right now for new sets...March is
the next one, Decipher will have some I am sure and mid year SkyBox should
have the TNG Profiles.
Steve Dubin the dude at SkyBox after Steve C left has now left as well.
Maybe it's time to corrupt you guys to PHONE CARDS....POGS....FOREIGN

Happy New Year!
Are there any trek related broadband broadcasts of anything? Like live
convention coverage? Or episode broadcasts? Any radio programs? What was
that radio station that had trek talk? Or was it talk trek? Are they on
the net? The internet is gona be so cool in the next few years.

Seems to be a common problem lynne.
Forecasting maps at the French weather
service initially got the New Year Day date as
"01/01/19100."

That's the date it showed, I just can't figure out WHY. I mean it's rather
an odd date...
Ah well, my power company had a power outage sometime last night. Must have
at least been 30 minutes since we have a UPS on the server and it went down.
Not sure if it was Y2K or not, but it's not weather, heck, it's like 70
degrees round these parts today! Still the year 2000 was either a bust or we
prepared really well!

If you're into the Star Trek books from Pocketbooks, check out their
website www.startrekbooks.com and sign up for their mailing list. I
believe they have weekly internet chats (Wednesday nights?) with trek
authors and editors. Happy Y2K, Ben

If you look close you see the reason for such a strange date.
It simply rolled 99 to 100
19"99" went to 19"100"

Description
This set contains one of the most internationally recognised card games of
all time. Star Trek THE NEXT GENERATION. This customizable card game is in a
limited edition tin and bears the number 14261 on it's certificate of
authenticity. This set contains 363 original Star Trek cards. All of the
cards are in their original sealed envelopes which have never been opened.
This special set was produced in September of 1995 and ever since has been
in demand. I have only seen one other like it for sale though there are a
limited ammount which (I do not know how many) are featured in collections
all over the world. This is a bargin and the last time I checked 2 years ago
this set was valued at just under $2,000.00. The bidding opens at $.01 and
may the best collector win. Keep in mind the cards in this set are still
sealed. Thank you, and good luck.

You aint missing anything. Neither seller or bidder are worth the time
of day to email and ask questions. The bidder will never pay. And it's
obvious the seller just put it up to see if anyone would bid on it. Both
those people are gona have headaches the next month for no good reason.
I watched the movie Trekkies yesterday for the first time. I got it for
christmas on DVD. And I cant believe I actually recognized one of the
people in it. Inge Heyer. Maybe If i watch it again I,ll see Vince in
it?
http://sol.stsci.edu/~heyer/
We seen Galaxy Quest this past weekend. It's a Good movie. The theater
was filled with people. I'm surprised not to see it on the top 5 this
past weekend. I wonder how much money it grossed so far?

Nope, they didn't invite me to that shoot<G>. And Inge was the only person
in it that I know, too, although there were some people in it that know
people I know - does that count? I don't know if the film made it clear,
but some of the footage was shot during the annual festivities in
Riverside, Iowa, the future birthplace of Capt. J. T. Kirk. Some of the
folks there might be people I know (online, only) from a Trek-related
listserv I'm on. Does that count, too<G>?
Maybe I'll be in Trekkies II

My guess is that eli6284@aol.com (whose f/b rating is a whopping "1"!!!,
BTW) is very good friends with jman731 (who has an equally impressive
feedback rating). I mean, if you saw an item listed with a starting value
of a penny, would you immediately bid $1,000.00 on it? Wouldn't you, at
least go for $500.00, first and see if you got outbid<G>?

Both bidders have 0 feedback ratings. The seller has a 1, which came from 1 of
the 2 bidders. The seller and both bidderrs have similarly constructed eBay
user names containing letters and 3-4 numbers. I smell a shill - they are
trying to get someone to think this really is rare and bid high. Or they are
just playing games.

PL, have mercy...has anyone been paying attention to which of the ROA cards
seem harder to find then others..there were a couple of uncommons and some
of the Ferengi (like Quark) that every one seems to look for the same
ones...I wanted to add a brief list of the ones everyone are looking for.

me $20 at a card show.... I purchase 2 and sold one to a friend of mine
for $20. This was when they were selling for $100+ at the card stores.
Maybe if i sell mine on eBay with a vegue description i can get more??

Spock vs. Q
The legacy of Star Trek lives on as two of the most
celebrated characters in sci-fi match wits and trade
barbs. Leonard Nimoy and John de Lancie revisit their
roles as alien braniacs in a drolly Socratic dialogue.
This is the sort of thing i,m looking for.

Leonard and John came to Philly a couple of years ago and performed this
live in an evening show after a con. Even though they just stood there in
their own clothes, with no make-up (it is being sold as a "radio play"),
you could hear Spock and "Q" as plain as day. It's also quite funny. I
keep meaning to pick up the CD (it wasn't available at the time they did it
live) so I can listen to it again. All the "Alien Voices" CD's are really
good, in case you've not heard any of them. The best is the one they did
on TV (Yes, radio on TV!) for, I think, the sci-fi channel. The story was
"First Men in the Moon" starring those two plus several other Trek actors
with a special appearance by a secret guest star. The promos never said
who the secret star was and he didn't appear until well into the show, but
it turned out to be William Shatner. The crowd went nuts when he came out
and Leonard knelt down and grovelled to him as he left the stage. It was
pretty darned funny. The production was great, witrh the "foley" (sound
effects) people working right onstage with the actors. Really enjoyable to
watch and, as I said, the CD's are worth every penny. There's several of
them, which I'm sure the website mentioned below will tell you all about.

Note: It flies FIRST in the game...translation: it'll show up later....??
The U.S.S. Jupiter Card Flies First In Activision's Star Trek[TM] Armada PC
Game
The newest ship in the Star Trek CCG universe is The U.S.S Jupiter, a
limited edition card featuring the Jupiter, an Akira-class starship, that
will be included in all packages of an upcoming real-time strategy game,
Star Trek: Armada, by Activision. The game is scheduled to release this
winter. Later in 2000, the U.S.S. Jupiter card will become available to
players and collectors through other channels - exactly how is not yet
decided.
Created through the use of computer graphics, the U.S.S. Jupiter is one of
the sleek Akira-class ships first seen in the Star Trek: First Contact
motion picture. In Activision's computer game, the ship plays an important
role in helping the U.S.S. Enterprise defend against a Borg attack. It's
also the first ship to be equipped with the Chain Reaction Pulsar, a new,
powerful weapon capable of ricocheting off multiple enemy ships.
In the universe of Star Trek CCG, the U.S.S. Jupiter is the second
Akira-class starship to appear on a card, complementing the popular U.S.S.
Thunderchild (from the Blaze of Glory expansion set). Players can expect the
new ship to tie in with existing game elements, as well as leaving the hatch
open for future combinations.
Other upcoming cards will also make use of some of the elements from
Activision's Star Trek: Armada computer game. Star Trek CCG Lead Designer
Bill Martinson comments: "We're thrilled to be adding new richness to Star
Trek CCG in the form of the very unique U.S.S. Jupiter. It's designed for
players and collectors to enjoy, and the ship will become even more powerful
in combination with the upcoming Chain Reaction Pulsar card. We know that
Activision shares our love for Star Trek, and it's been very enjoyable
working with them as both companies continue to contribute to the growing
Star Trek universe. As designers, game players, and fans, we're looking
forward to experiencing these new and exciting Trek elements in both game
formats."
Every one of the cards will sport photo-realistic images, as is standard
with all of Decipher's current CCGs.
The release of the U.S.S. Jupiter in Star Trek: Armada marks the second
collaboration between Activision and Decipher. The first one had been the
free give-away, last October, of a Star Trek CCG Starter Deck II with
pre-order of a copy of the Star Trek: Hidden Evil computer game, at selected
retailers.
"Part of the fantasy of Star Trek is that it is a living, breathing universe
with a continuous time line," says Activision Brand Manager Laird Malamed.
"By combining elements of our Star Trek: Armada strategy game with
Decipher's Customizable Card Game, we are supporting that intrinsic fantasy.
Fans of both computer games and card games will be pleased with the result."

Second Anthology is still listed as soon.....

Subject: (TrekChat) Coulda been a millionaire....
Date: 18 Jan 2000 23:49:04 -0500
Dang, I KNEW the million dollar question tonight!...;) Course a few
others...not so much!
With a brand new century opening up ahead of it, the Star Trek Customizable
Card Game is preparing to boldly go where no CCG has gone before - and to
take its fans along for the adventure. We have a truly packed year planned
for Star Trek CCG players and collectors, and it starts right here...
Releasing in March 2000, the Second Anthology will offer a retrospective of
the last few years of Star Trek CCG history. Packaged in a beautiful and
sturdy 800-card-capacity storage box, the Second Anthology will contain 6
new black-bordered premium cards not available anywhere else, 2 copies of
Starter Deck II, 2 expansion packs from the First Contact set, 2 expansion
packs from the Deep Space Nine set and two expansion packs from the Dominion
set. The First Contact set has been out of print for more than a year now,
but Decipher had put some of it aside for special products such as the
Second Anthology.
In June 2000, Star Trek CCG enthusiasts will be treated to The Trouble With
Tribbles, the game's first major expansion set of the century - and the
first set to include material from the original Star Trek series (yes, the
famous Captain Kirk made a randomly scheduled guest appearance in the
Dominion set, but he's about to become part of the permanent crew). This set
will contain a total of 131 cards, one of which will be an ultra-rare. A new
entry point into Star Trek CCG, The Trouble With Tribbles will be packaged
in two different preconstructed starter decks as well as the traditional
expansion packs. One deck will be designed for the Federation affiliation,
while the other will be awaiting Klingon players. Each of these two decks
will be ready to play right out of the box and will include two randomly
selected rare cards from the Trouble With Tribbles set as well as a special
premium card. The set will feature plenty of classic Star Trek material from
the Deep Space Nine episode "Trials & Tribble-ations" as well as elements
from other Star Trek properties such as Deep Space Nine and The Next
Generation.
Through a new game mechanic, players will be able to "collect" Tribbles and
potentially use an unlimited number of the furry little critters in their
decks. 1-Tribble cards, 5-Tribbles cards, 100-Tribbles cards...
Scheduled for release in July 2000, the Reflections set for Star Trek CCG
will be out just in time for the shiny summer season. This product will be
presented in a format similar to that of the Star Wars CCG Reflections set,
with a hefty selection of foil versions of the most popular Star Trek CCG
rare cards. Each $5 pack will contain one foil card along with 17 other
cards chosen at random. This means that while the average pack will be
composed of a mix of common, uncommon and rare cards, you could conceivably
open a pack containing 17 commons - or 17 rares. Current components for the
random mix include cards from the following sets: Premiere, Alternate
Universe, Q-Continuum, First Contact, Deep Space Nine and The Dominion.
The next major expansion set, releasing in September 2000, will be Mirror,
Mirror. This set will contain 131 cards, including an ultra-rare. In
addition to expansion packs, the cards will be packaged in two
preconstructed starter decks, following a format similar to the one used for
The Trouble With Tribbles. Material from the original Star Trek series will
compose a large part of Mirror, Mirror, with other Star Trek properties
being featured in the set as well, including several Alternate
Universe-related elements. An exciting new game mechanic will allow players
to go into the mirror universe and come out again (and vice-versa), hoping
to find their native side of the looking glass like they remember it.
Enhanced Premiere, set for a November 2000 release, will conclude this
year's list of additions to the Star Trek CCG game universe. Just enough
time for players to enjoy a relaxed holiday season before embarking on a new
wild ride for 2001.

OK, this is like so NOT card related, but I just had to tell somebody...!!
My spellchecker for Outlook tries to turn Trekkie into Trekker.....I'm a T R
E K K I E...by dippie!
Anyone get their NSU? Lots of us related articles...two on Rittenhouse. one
on cards in the future..I make note of it cause it DIDN'T mention
Cyberaction..soemthing I thought it should have. I downloaded from their
site a set of 4 Captain's cards. I had poked around on them, but apparently
missed something cause last night I played with them again..each card has a
small video file with a scene featuring each captain. It's really cool!
Anyone who DID get NSU and wants to chat abut the issue of variations they
brought up in regards to the Voyager Season one 9-card promo sheet, I would
love to see a discussion about that! I can set up some sort of message
board, I am sure!
I added some new scans and stuff to the web site. Check out the main page
for more info. We still have many down areas..broken links and the search
doesn't work, but we are trying hard to get them all back up! The Auctionne
seems to have settled down ok!
Anyone thinking about giving up on gaming cards?! ;)

All of my Voyager I sheets refract. Does that mean i,m going to be
looking for the rarer one that doesn't refract? NOT! I'm happy with
what I have as the promo sheet for Voyager I. Now that I know about it,
If I happen to stumble across one at a card show or something for a $1
Ill buy it. But there's no way id pay big bucks for one. The only person
to know the difference between the 2 would be me. And besides, I have no
room to display it.

Depends on if one collects error cards I guess. I don't, I do have one error
card, an Insurrection auto card that had Levar Burton's name spelled wrong.
They corrected it before the release and I thought it was cool enough.

got a note saying the 12 set ahs been dropped down to 3, no mention of the
colored version. Said it turned out to be harder to do then they expected.
'scuse me? I guess this was a product they didn't try to actually MAKE
before going public? I mean a test issue or some such thing?

Does anyone have any suggestions . . .
I sent a card to a person as a trade and never received the card he was supposed
to send. He said there was a mix up and that he would mail my card back - OK. No
problem. This was after a month. Since the last reply, it has been 4 weeks and
no card. I have sent him 3 emails - no response and even called his home number
- what he gave ebay anyway. No answer and an elderly lady's voice was on the
answering machine! He has a high ebay rating (kissell101 - 210).
I did insure the card I sent him, I am contemplating going to the post office
and claim it was lost. Since this was not an ebay transaction, I'm not sure I
want to leave negative feedback as the deal did not go through ebay. I know he
is still around because he is still selling stuff on ebay and posting to the
newsgroups.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Cliff

On two separate issues...I am of the opinion non ebay transactions shouldn't
reflect in feedback.
Interesting concept...the filing form the insurance...he has to fill out the
claim as well....sign it and such. Would he? If he does and you have an
email saying oppps I'll send it back, can ya get him for fraud? Or will he
NOT take part in filling out the form at all and you are stuck?
I would consider that a bad trader and I wonder if going public on the
newsgroups is the way to go? I have also had dealings with him and haven't
had any issues, but I have found some people will be ok with some and not
with others.....very odd :(

To make things even more interesting, I've dealt with him before and had
no problems at all. I am being cautious as I have jumped the gun before
and the person had a legit reason - his email was being screened by the
firewall I'm behind.
As for ebay, he offerred his ebay rating as references. I'm still not
sure about using it though.
It was a Voyager Orange IS2 card - in case you are wondering.
