  41. Glad you asked JEFF! I spoke to Fleebox today and they said that they
  42. did not receive there shipment in from there supplier yet. They expect
  43. to be shipping DS9 Golden Moments to there costumers in 2-3 Weeks.
  44.  
  45. The 3 Costumer service reps that I spoke to were all unusually friendly
  46. and helpful today. It might be a good day to call them for the stuff you
  47. need. All the TOS3 commons i wanted are being mailed my way!! And that
  48. missing auto from season 7 is in the mail too. :-)
  49.  
  50. I hope the rest of the day goes like this.

  162. to me, I went into it assuming it would be delayed...;)
  163. Course my opinion on how the whole thing was handled would be another story
  164. altogether

  195. When I spoke to skybox today it never occured to me to ask which 9 cards
  196. were selected. Who knows, They probibaly had them picked out before the
  197. ballots were ever printed.

  243. get the product
  244. 2. Limit the number of sets, but do't limit the number any one buyer can
  245. get....so one person sucks up all the sets and makes a monopoly.
  246. I LOVED the idea of a fan voted set, I didn't like how this one was carried

  275. Oh Man, This reminds me of Lift Off cards. Circa 1993-4, I seen a
  276. magizine offer for some space cards to be released. You were to pay for
  277. them in advance. around $30 as i recall. They sent you an unnumbered
  278. promo card in the meen time. Mine was bent in half when i got it. A year
  279. later still no set. So I did some research and called them. I found out
  280. the business went out of bussiness, Or  bankrupt, Or some other kind of
  281. excuse i dont remember. I never got my money back But they did mail me a
  282. 9 card promo set as compensation.. Doh!! I think i,v seen the set in a
  283. price guide for around $50 now?

  291. I agree there should be a limit on the number of sets any one person or
  292. dealer can get. I myself am only getting one set. It would of been nice
  293. to get 2 or more. I could of traded or sold them later. But that meens 1
  294. or more honest collectors would not be getting a set at cost. So i didnt
  295. do it.

  601. Hmmm... seems like others are jumping on the bandwagon.  I have a bottle of
  602. spring water Mira Furlan (Delenn from Babylon5) was drinking at a Valley
  603. Forge con.  The only proof I have is a photo of her at the autograph table
  604. with the bottle next to her.  A friend has a (china) coffee cup and a
  605. plastic drinking glass, both of which were used by Patrick Stewart; the
  606. first at a Charity dinner she attended, the second at the podium of a con
  607. she attended.  For her, the authentication doesn't matter, because she
  608. knows they're legit and will never sell them.  For me, someday, I'll have
  609. to find an expert in "half-full spring water bottles"<G>.

  1363. about the "60's" stamps in the series.  Very disappointing that we can't
  1364. get lots of them at once without the others.  At least, when you buy the
  1365. sheet, you're not paying a LOT of extra money per stamp.  Also, in case
  1366. anyone is interested, Hallmark is putting out a Xmas ornament that has the
  1367. stap trapped inside it.

  1521. envelope with cardboard covering only half the press kit.  In my view that 
  1522. is not acceptable packaging for trans-Atlantic postage, I wouldn't even 
  1523. send anything like that by ordinary mail.

  1525. So I posted a neutral feedback (could have been -ve but wasn't), saying 
  1526. prompt service shame about the packaging.  This company then left me a 
  1527. neutral feedback saying it wasn't their fault it was the post office's 
  1528. (which it wasn't).  This is my first non-positive feedback ever and raises 
  1529. a couple of points:

  1531. 1.  Can we leave anything other than +feedback, or else just get the same 
  1532. back, even if we pay promptly and fairly?

  1534. 2.  What has a justification for their lack of service got to do with my

  1586. Technically, you shouldnt. A transaction can have a good bidder and a bad
  1587. seller or visa versa. Problem is getting both parties to honestly report
  1588. their opinions without ruffled feathers.

  1595. It shouldn't. If they did not pack it properly, people need to know so they
  1596. can request better shipping or insurance or something. THe seller needs to
  1597. be nudged as well, to make sure they understood it wouldn't work. Packaging
  1598. collectibles is a vital issue fr us We want mint stuff. Anyone who doesn't
  1599. get that part is someone we dont' want to spend money on. (not that
  1600. accident's don't happen, they do. Not all my stuff has arrived safely!

  1631. Feedback wars suck. I learned my lesson early on. I Even got one person
  1632. kicked off eBay because of it. :) I try to avoid negitive feedback thing
  1633. with a little common sense. If it's expensive and far away, Dont bid on
  1634. it. Chance are it will get mangled in the mail. If you never hear from
  1635. someone for a month call them on the phone. If you get little or no
  1636. responce from them within 30 days then i leave NEGITIVE feedback. I do
  1637. this on the 30th day from end of auction. I,v done it about half dozzon

  1694. week later there was still no response.  Hence my action.  Incidentally 
  1695. the reason it was neutral and not negative, was because other parts of the

  1743. they offer? I feel that it is my job to make sure the product gets their
  1744. safely and to package it, but I think it's the buyers to pay for it.  Some
  1745. products I make a tidy profit on, so the cost of replacement, if needed,
  1746. would just mean I lose my profit. Other things, the profit margin is so
  1747. tight that a lost package would really hurt.  I don't overcharge for
  1748. shipping. everyone gets charged exact shipping. I COULD however, set a rate,
  1749. include a handling fee and overcharge for shipping. I prefer the approach of
  1750. keeping prices fair, but covering my shipping expenses.
  1751. But, overseas presents a while other issue. Most overseas customers want no
  1752. insurance and little declared value. I believe, then, and state it, that the
  1753. onus is on the collector and if lost so be it.  I will do my part and pack

  1795. Basically I agree with everything you just said.  My own view is this, if 
  1796. an overseas customer (and I am one) request no insurance then they must 
  1797. carry the can for that.  That's the gamble's that's taken...it's not your 
  1798. problem.

  1801. in theory if I was to ask for my money back, I should only expect $100.  
  1802. But it's more complicated by the fact that it's the seller's fault for the 
  1803. damage - not mine, not the post office.  So should this person owe me the 
  1804. full whack or only $100?  I think it's the full $300 (in theory) because 
  1805. when you think about it, insurance doesn't come into this example.

  1921. In theory, insurance covers only those items packed well. So, far I haven't
  1922. addressed the issue of a rejected claim. (I had one I thought for SURE they
  1923. wouldn't pay, uncut sheet protected with two sheets of paper towels!!!!!,
  1924. but they paid so I didn't get to test the idea that the seller would have to
  1925. pay me if the USPS said no )If not packed well, then (in theory) you should
  1926. get $300 since they didn't do their part, in reality they can claim, that
  1927. they should only be out $100.  I would be hard pressed to argue either
  1928. stance. but if I had to pick, I'd say you were due the full $300.
  1929. There's somebody here (he knows who he is :kiss kiss: )with strict rules of
  1930. how something is to be shipped, rules that to the unawares may seem
  1931. outlandish, but by dippy, after a few years, I agree....;) If you get

  2040. matter what, but if the buyer only wants the item insured for $100. that's
  2041. all anybody should be responsible for, IMO.  I mean, why would the buyer
  2042. only want to pay for $100 if they really want $300-worth of insurance?  If
  2043. you expect to get a $300 refund, then you actually want to be covered for
  2044. $300, right?  If you want to be coivered for $300, then pay for $300.
  2045. What's the difference in cost, about $5?  You don't wanna pay the extra $5,
  2046. but you want the seller to cough up an extra $200?  Sorry, not fair, IMO.

  2126. Bear in mind, in this scenario, the package has been undervalued for the
  2127. purposes of the customs form. A full value of $300, gets you taxed at $300
  2128. (in some countries as high as 27% of the value). It was not undervalued to
  2129. avoid paying insurance fees.
  2130. The bigger question is does the fact proper care was not taken mean if the
  2131. insurance doesn't cover it because it wasn't packed well should the seller
  2132. have to pay it himself and if he didn't do all he could do, an the insurance
  2133. is voided, does he owe the whole cost or just the now no-good insured cost?

  2418. Ebay, the guy wanted, like 2000, for it, but was willing to take $200 a
  2419. month, really fair deal, I thought, but I couldn't make myself do it. I'm
  2420. trying to think what is the highest price I paid for one thing.....James
  2421. paid $1500 for the Leaf set he bought me, that's likely the most paid, but
  2422. break it down per card and it isn't so bad...;)
  2423. I suppose on a per card basis, it was the Brent SPiner auto card form FC...I
  2424. paid a bit over $600 for that (and we wont' talk about te $225 offer I
  2425. turned down at the time it first came out...waaaaaaa) Sometimes I think I'm
  2426. nuts, but then I think, oh well...;) It's not like i have any other
  2427. vices.....no smoking drinking or chasing the men.....

  2721. line, though if I looked at every card I had, there were some that don't fit
  2722. in that rule that I shouldn't have gone after, but it's real easy to turn

  2906. seller is careless.  I'm no fan of the concept of insurance in general, but
  2907. in this case, it's the primary protection.  Once you decide you don't want

  2915. Don't know for sure on this, but I believe that the PO would pay, despite
  2916. the poor packing job.  At least that's the way it seems to go with a
  2917. package being mailed between 2 US addresses.  Since this one involved 2
  2918. different postal systems, there might have been a big todo as to whose
  2919. fault the damage was.

  2921. Here's my "damaged parcel" story:  I won an eBay auction for a 9" Captain
  2922. Kirk figure (I think it was the "Mirror, Mirror" one) that was describes as
  2923. MIMB.  When it arrived, the box was crushed, apparently because the seller
  2924. put it in another box that was just barely big enough to hold it; when the
  2925. outer box got crushed, so did the inner one.  I had cosen NOT to get
  2926. insurance, as I had always had good luck sending a LONG paragraph of
  2927. instructions along with my payment, asking for certain care in packaging.
  2928. This guy either didn't bother to read it or just idn't care.  Anyway, when
  2929. I wrote him about it, he said that, for all he knew, I crushed the box
  2930. because I changed my mind about wanting the item.  He wouldn't reimburse me
  2931. for the shipping in either direction, only the actual selling price of the
  2932. figure.  What a jerk!

  3080. Actually, I've gone the Amazon route looking for the Lely book STAR TREK.
  3081. They will take the order but politely tell you in several weeks that they
  3082. cannot find it.

  3084. The best online source I've found for out-of-print books is the metasearch
  3085. site www.bookfinder.com .  It searches Amazon, Bibliofind, and other book
  3086. sites.  A copy of the Lely book was just listed, but I don't think it's
  3087. worth the $20 asking price in ex-lib condition.
  3088. (The Lely book is not anything special.  It's part of a children's
  3089. TV/movie tie-in series (SW, Battlestar Galactica, etc) which explains ST.
  3090. I've borrowed it from my library system, but want a copy mostly because I
  3091. don't have one yet!)

  3488. I have a situation where there is a bidder bidding on one of my items
  3489. who has ZERO feedback. He's got 1 Pos And 1 neg. The neg is from someone
  3490. who had the same item for sale and didnt get paid on it. And the Pos is
  3491. from someone i,v done business with before. Needless to say i,m a bit
  3492. concerened here. It's alot of money. 
  3493.  
  3494. In eBays rules it states I can cancel this users bid. IF:
  3495.  
  3496. a. Bidder contacts you to back out of the bid. 
  3497. b. You cannot verify the identity of the bidder, after trying all
  3498. reasonable means of contact. 
  3499. c. You want to end your auction early because you no longer want to sell
  3500. your item. In this case you must cancel all bids on your auction before
  3501. ending the auction. 
  3502.  
  3503. OK, So my question is what is reasonable means of contact? How do I
  3504. verify the identity of the bidder? Am I going to make a Long distance
  3505. call to Australia? Ieee dont think so.. I'v sent this person an email
  3506. asking for an explaination refering to the neg feedback. And an
  3507. Aproximation of what shipping cost would cost him. Air mail and Surface
  3508. mail. It's almost been 24Hs and No responce yet. What should I do? What
  3509. can I do?

  3551. didn't pay for it, and turned aroudn and bid on soembody else's auction?

  3574. My feeling is, as the seller, you hold all the cards and I don't see why
  3575. you(anyone) would cancel a bid unless the feedbackwas pretty extreme. I
  3576. mean, worse case scenario, he doesn't pay for it. You can get your fees back
  3577. form ebay (most of it it), but the items stays with you, so you can't lose
  3578. that and you can offer it to the second highest bidder.
  3579. Seller feedback is important to me, bidder feedback doesn't bend me out of
  3580. shape too bad. COurse I don't get bent if i dont' get paid either, I just
  3581. plod along to the next tranaction. It tends to take care of itse'f in the
  3582. long ron (ask me how I turned an A59 Nimoy card into a Shatner A1 sold at
  3583. $585, a Nimoy card sold at $250 and a Q auto sold at $35.....:giggle:)
  3584. Reasonable contact wuldhave to be longer then 24 hours. Not taking into
  3585. account the time differential in Australian and the fact that not everyone
  3586. is as net obsessed as us...;)

  3714. I waited over 72 Hrs for a responce and at that point I didnt get any.
  3715. So I canceled the bid. But at the 4 day mark I did get an email from
  3716. them and the excuses were pretty lame.

  3723. of things that you can remember about your auction.  You are well within
  3724. your rights to cancel a bid that you don't feel comfortable with, 
  3725. especially if you don't believe that the bidder will honor their bid.

  3727. experience in the future.

  3729. 1.  You may want to consider adding to your listing that you aren't

  3796. SImple, traded a Nimoy for an A1 Shatner. Sodl the A1 Shatner for $500,
  3797. bidder decided not to get the card after a few weeks and in appology send me
  3798. the Q auto and the Nimoy auto(I still dunno why they didn't just sell the
  3799. cards to pay off the Shatner and i was really embarressed when the cards
  3800. came in the mail)  Sold the two cards and then later sodl the Shatner for
  3801. $585. It's was a funky deal...;)

  4015. and I know how hard I'm trying) and, unless time is limited, I wait 2 weeks
  4016. or more after the last eMail before I try other action.  Obviously, if you
  4017. have the option to relist an iem or sell it to the second highest biddere,
  4018. then you might want to wrap things up sooner, but the key is to realize
  4019. that people have lives and for some of them, the auction isn't priority #1.

  4151. registration, you're unable to warn other sellers about him/her because
  4152. their userID is no longer valid (althouh, with how easy it is to change
  4153. your AOL username, that's pretty useless, anyway).

  4156. they'll complete a deal?  Personally, I NEVER check a bidder's feedback
  4157. until I'm getting ready to post negative on them, myself.  I wonder if this

  4222. Given the items involved, I'd contact the 2nd highest bidder, let them know
  4223. what's going on and ask if they might want the items IF you're unable to
  4224. get satisfaction from the winner by a certain date.  At least you'll know
  4225. whether you should plan to relist or not.  I'd also ask eBay how long you
  4226. can wait and still get a free relisting.

  4386. you can take to assure a successful auction experience in the future. I
  4387. got them from eBays safeharbor.

  4390. accepting bids from users who have a pattern of negative feedback.  
  4391. Specify what you consider to be excessive, such as users with 5 negative
  4392. feedback comments in the last month, for an example.

  4394. 2.  Follow through with that specification.  Check the feedback profile 
  4395. of the bidders on your auctions.  This will give you an idea of the type
  4396. of user you are planning to conduct business with.

  4398. 3.  If you find that a user who you feel is not qualified to bid on your
  4399. auctions (based on the standards you posted in your listing) or a user 
  4400. that you are not comfortable dealing with has bid on your auction, you

  4430. The person in question had 1 pos and 1 neg. Giving them an overall
  4431. rating of O at the time. The pos came from someone we know. I emailed
  4432. him and he admited grief from the bidder. It Took them 2 months to pay.
  4433. As of yesterday this bidder has a -2 rating. And it wasnt caused by me.
  4434. I,m GLAD I canceled his bid. It's A wonderful option eBay gives us

  4441. This has been the worst experianced auction i,v run so far. I have 4
  4442. items with idiots for winners. I was checking feedback too as the
  4443. auctions were running. I didn't pickup any indications of loosers except
  4444. for the one.. In the end a winner of 2 of my items has been suspended. I
  4445. found a buyer for 1 of those items, A Local person too. I was happy
  4446. about that. 1 other winner refused the item because of overseas mailing
  4447. costs. Well DAH! Your suppose to be asking these questions before you
  4448. bid. This person has admited to me of refusing items before too. I will
  4449. be leaving him negitive feedback on tuesday.

  4582. The person in question had 1 pos and 1 neg. Giving them an overall
  4583. rating of O at the time. The pos came from someone we know. I emailed
  4584. him and he admited grief from the bidder. It Took them 2 months to pay.
  4585. As of yesterday this bidder has a -2 rating. And it wasnt caused by me.
  4586. I,m GLAD I canceled his bid. It's A wonderful option eBay gives us
  4587. sellers.

  4593. This has been the worst experianced auction i,v run so far. I have 4
  4594. items with idiots for winners. I was checking feedback too as the
  4595. auctions were running. I didn't pickup any indications of loosers except
  4596. for the one.. In the end a winner of 2 of my items has been suspended. I
  4597. found a buyer for 1 of those items, A Local person too. I was happy
  4598. about that. 1 other winner refused the item because of overseas mailing
  4599. costs. Well DAH! Your suppose to be asking these questions before you
  4600. bid. This person has admited to me of refusing items before too. I will
  4601. be leaving him negitive feedback on tuesday.

  4603. Did you know this about Non-Paying Bidders - Effective 3/1/99?
  4604.  
  4605. Defined as bidders who win an auction but never follow through with the
  4606. transaction.. 
  4607.  
  4608. Upon receiving a credit request from a seller for non-payment by the
  4609. bidder, eBay will automatically send a warning email to the user accused
  4610. of bidding and not paying. The user will receive two warnings before
  4611. suspension. On the third instance, the user will be suspended for 30
  4612. days. A fourth offense will result in indefinite suspension from eBay. 
  4613.  
  4614. The warnings and suspensions are issued automatically when a seller
  4615. requests the credit.
