  10. Auctionne! To keep track of the contest, you would need to be getting the

  14. Today is the 2nd Anniversary of the ST Auctionne!
  15. In honor of this, we are having a contest! Here's the prize!
  16. One auto from TNG 7 (upon it's release and the exact one will depend
  17. on what I pull)
  18. Here's the contest! I let James pick it since my word contest got kinda
  19. crazy!
  20. Sometimes, people get afraid to enter figuring everyone else is
  21. ever so much more collectible-brained them them, so I am making
  22. this a random contest!
  23. I will post a new question every day.(I will let the first question
  24. sit for two days to allow for holiday travels) Everyone who wants to
  25. enter must answer the first question to qualify for the contest. The
  26. questions are for the most part random, though I suppose there may be
  27. a personal bias to the answer.
  28. Here's how it works. you gotta get the answers correct to stay in the
  29. contest. Last man standing wins, only those who got the answers correct
  30. may answer the next day. We will keep narrowing the field every day
  31. until only one person gets the answer correctly. That person wins!
  32. Some people are likely to get knocked out on day one, but don't
  33. despair! I am sure I will have another contest!

  366. he used one image to represent all his action figures
  367. and some of those have pogs some have cards..
  368. this particular one may have a pog even tho the image
  369. used for this particular auction wasnt necessarily the
  370. corresponding image for the item offered..

  372. he is lazy and didnt wish to scan or upload a diff
  373. image for each item he had for sale...
  374. so he used the same action figure image for all the
  375. other action figures he is offering.. 
  376. sounds kinda stupid to me but that is clearly what
  377. he is doing.. even tho its very misleading.. 
  378. im sure that each item he has up for bid.. has the
  379. exact same description aside from the name on the
  380. item...  this saved him time...
  381. i wouldnt be too surprised if this person was just like
  382. the ones u complained about a few weeks ago who
  383. didnt have time to inform u of ur winning bid if in fact
  384. u were the winner..    
  385. i know i would never bid on this item.. or any other
  386. item that was described in this way...

  412. Except that Dathon with card is worth a few bucks and the Dathon with pog is
  413. with a couple of hundred bucks.
  414. In MOST cases, esp with the Dathon, Sarek and L. Troi, , there is a big
  415. difference in price between what one is willing to pay for a carded figure
  416. vs a pog'd figure, so either I
  417. 1. won't bid if I can't know what I am getting (and as a seller, they should
  418. offer full disclosure)or
  419. 2. they are so hopeful I'll be desperate to get a chance at getting a rare
  420. Dathon, I'll consider this some sort of lottery and waste a few bucks in
  421. hopes of getting lucky.

  526. information..  im sure he will be willing to tell u what it is...
  527. so u can bid with the awareness of what u are bidding on..
  528. if hes not willing.. that would probably mean he is selling the
  529. cheaper one and wants u to think u are getting the better one..

  538. them..  but i would love the cards from the figures.. i just never
  539. went to the extreme of bidding on the figures hoping to get the
  540. cards..

  577. (I should preface this with the statement that I've given up trying to keep
  578. track of which figures come with pogs and which come with cards and which
  579. are the more "valuable", so I don't know if the picture you refer to shows
  580. the "more, or less valuable" figure)  Clearly, this is either sloppy
  581. marketing or they figure they'll get money from some dolt who doesn't
  582. bother to read the fine print.  I have bought an awful lot of stuff from
  583. Intergalactic on eBay, but I'll be the first to tell you that they try too
  584. often to write a text block that can be used on several items and, very
  585. often, put it with a picture that seems to contradict the message.
  586. Obviously, you should try and eMail them, but they are also VERY slow to
  587. respond.  You might not get a message until after the auction ends.

  628. I remember Lynne telling me recently that the Star Trek sets have been 
  629. quite unpopular until TOS-1 came out with the autos etc.  I think Voyager 
  630. profiles was pretty sucessful as well.  But have things slipped with this 
  631. latest installment, that's the impression I get from eBay and my own 
  632. experience.  Perhaps the novelty of such rare cards has now worn off, as 
  633. Lynne said such tactics cannot last forever.

  636. Lynne's book includes a price guide and that it is more realistic than 
  637. Intergalactics.  The truth is that some cards are almost impossible to 
  638. sell.  Intergalactic's guide is some kind of dream, to me anyway.

  640. And on a final note, I notice lots of companies are bringing out special 
  641. pieces to mark the Millenium.  I wonder if there will be any special Star 
  642. Trek pieces brought out?  I hope so.

  1069. I would think that Intergalactic is hampered in their objectivity by the
  1070. fact they sell as well as make a guide. I mean, doesn't it then become to
  1071. their advantage to quote prices high so when their catalog comes out, they
  1072. are more justified?
  1073. I am sorry to report their will be no price guides in the book. I avoid them
  1074. at all cost on the web site and will carry that through to the book. It is
  1075. impossible to take all possible buying situations into consideration. For
  1076. example, net prices Vs show prices, overseas Vs US.

  1179. other for advice and info. We "chit chat" about things when
  1180. working deals. I was trading on the "net" before there was a
  1181. neat-o graphic interface.(for the new people, the "net" used

  1343. to pay them once I received ebay's notification, they (the selle) never

  1363. Well, we are blending two streams of conversation here, my Intergalactic
  1364. issue begins and ends with the idea of not informing me of all the info I
  1365. would need to bid (I.e. pog Vs card).The transaction I was fussing at was
  1366. someone else's.

  1368. patient;s do not accept or want to hear the "we don't have  enough nurses'
  1369. story when they feel their needs are not being met, they just want them met,
  1370. fair enough.
  1371. In some ways, transactions online should be no different then say, standing
  1372. in line to checkout at the grocery store, but I think for so long, as Chris
  1373. points out, we have enjoyed personal communication to such a point that this
  1374. seems less satisfying, but then that's the way it always is when the
  1375. town/community starts growing.

  1423. I'll agree that that's the way it does go when the town grows, but I don't
  1424. have to like or condone it.  I can also point to SOME businesses that make
  1425. it a point to continue providing quality service even when business grows
  1426. quickly.  I think they call it "re-investing some of the profits back into
  1427. the business".  It's a different concept from "let's just bleed this thing
  1428. for all it's worth" and one I prefer.  Yes, most go for the bleeding idea.
  1429. So, what have they created?  Just shit, that's all.  There's a reason
  1430. people STILL think of a '57 Chevvy or the Original Star Trek as "classic",
  1431. but hardly ever mention the '48 Plymouith or "Hello, Larry".  I'd rather be
  1432. lying on my deathbed, recalling how I helped produce a '57 Chevvy than
  1433. "Hello, Larry".  Maybe when the current "Titans of e-commerce" graduate
  1434. high school, they'll start developing standards, too.  See what I'm trying

  1526. your e-mails on this subject that the seller had indicated there would be 
  1527. no contact on their part.  So my question is why did you trade with them?

  1529. Personally I would not because I agree with you that service is important. 
  1530. Particularly considering the amount of money involved.  It's like going 
  1531. into a shop and the staff expecting you to operate the till.  But if 
  1532. they've warned you in advance then I cannot see much point in both going 
  1533. ahead with the trade and complaining about it.

  1825. i have only missed a couple of days on this list
  1826. but i am not sure if anyone here announced it or

  1829. im glad i got the chance to meet him on atleast 2
  1830. different occasions... one on the street in front of 
  1831. a hotel while he was in nyc.. in the early to mid 80s..

  1953. apologize for invading once again, the cause seems worthy.

  1957. Our beloved Doctor died Friday at the Motion Picture
  1958. and Television Fund Hospital in Woodland Hills,
  1959. California. His wife of 55 years, Carolyn was at his
  1960. side. Leonard Jackson Kelley was always a good
  1961. friend and classy individual.
  1962.  
  1963. KathE and Karolyn (my wife and sister-in-law) had
  1964. the great privilege of running DeForest's fan club
  1965. for a time and felt proud to know the Kelley's
  1966. personally. I occasionally talked with him and his
  1967. wife over dinner and spent some time at the two
  1968. conventions that we produced where he was a guest.
  1969. De and his wife shared much joy in the letters they
  1970. would receive from McCoy's fans. De waxed proud over
  1971. the accomplishments of those that wrote to mention
  1972. McCoy as an inspiration in their lives. De and
  1973. Carolyn took the time to correspond with those
  1974. people and turned them into fans of DeForest and
  1975. Carolyn Kelley.

  1977. Carolyn is currently being treated for illness at
  1978. the Hospital and could probably use your

  2032. California Lottery Star Trek First Contact 1 dollar Tickets Unscratched with
  2033. Pictures of the NCC 1701, NCC-1701 Movie, NCC-1701-a,NCC-1701-c,NCC-1701-D
  2034. and The First Contack Logo ticket. Why you ask My most dumbest Collectable.
  2035. Months After the lottry sells ended on this run of tickets The $50,000
  2036. dollar Ticket went unclaim. after a record sell out. Nobody claim the Prize.
  2037. Well at the end of the Year a Audet check on the Winning ticket number was
  2038. posted in a local Sacrament Paper. and Guess what? Since I never scratch it
  2039. and held on to it too long figure it make a great Unuseal Star Trek Item to
  2040. sell later I was surprize that By matching the number on the back of the
  2041. ticket was one of the winning top prize tickets. AAAAAAAAAahggg. Well now it
  2042. just another useless Star Trek collectable. Ticket 167-120685-5136 was one
  2043. of the unclaim winners. Since I didn't want to scratch the nice picture off.
  2044. and I tuck it away for safe keeping. Never beleaving I would not win it
  2045. anyway and thought it would be a nice collectable to add to rest of my Trek
  2046. stuff. I never scratch it to find out if I did or not during the promation.
  2047. So I guess that why I'm getting rid of this stuff. Every time I look at
  2048. those tickets I get mad at myself. Now it just another piece of cardboard
  2049. with a pretty picture on it that I spent a $1 for it. So figure I let some
  2050. other Trek Fan get them before I really get mad and Burn them. Oh well my
  2051. lost. Somebody elses gain and good story to go with them and to verifie this
  2052. is no joke Check with the Sacramento paper 1996.

  2443. Am working through a final stack of stuff, I have 4 b and w copies of the
  2444. Inaugural Edition checklists...the paper ones. I can see a difference
  2445. between two of them in how the categories are listed, is that the only
  2446. differences?

  2493. I have 4 different versions of the Inaugural checklist. The first three I
  2494. know came from Skybox but I am unsure of the last.
  2495. 1. Slick paper, nice color, Title and Categories in red, 
  2496.     Small Skybox logo at bottom with 1992 copyright.
  2497.  
  2498. 2. Regular paper, looks like done on a color copier with only blue and
  2499. black toner.
  2500.     Text wise it's an exact duplicate of #1
  2501.  
  2502. 3. Regular paper, Blue heading and paramount trademark, rest in black,
  2503.     Large Skybox logo at bottom with no copyright year.
  2504.     Many of the Category headings and card titles are different that #1 & 2.
  2505.  
  2506. 4. This one looks like a photocopy of #3 in only black with one exception...
  2507.     The Large Skybox logo at the bottom has a 1993 copyright
  2508.  
  2509. Let me know if you need scans of any of them and if so what quality and format.

  2541. Those are my b/w copys that a gave to you, and many others. (2-3 years
  2542. ago) I rememeber someone typed out a really good decription of the
  2543. diffrences but i cant find it. :( I think it was Mark or Ricky that had
  2544. it, But it's not on there pages anyware..
