I had the good fortune to be at the concert Saturday at Darian Lake, Buffalo, NY. I had in my company my wife, step daughter and her friend. My step daughter and her friend are both 14!!! They have been brainwashed by someone playing the Brand New Day CD religiously at home!!!
Being at Darian Lake which for those that know has the amusement park as part of the complex the combination of the amusement park & Sting was a winning one!
Myself and the wife are trained veterans who naturally bopped along to the great performance that HRH Sting was putting on but to my surprise the 2 young pups were also bopping along. There favourites turned out to be " the Puff daddy song" and Desert Rose which they both sing around the house and most of Northern Pa for that matter!!!
They also came out with the the typical responses " Did Sting do that song....Roxanne...ELTSDIM..etc"
So there is hope yet!!!
My own quick review was that Roxannne was brilliant, Desert Rose was surprisingly good even without Cheb or mini Cheb doing the vocals...just lil ol Sting.
The Police songs got the biggest cheers which is to be expected. What was a pleasant surprise to me was that being orignally from the UK I went to his Royal Albert Hall shows which although musically superb the crowd seemd to be of the financially able type!! Where as your average fan would wave cigarette lighters for the slow songs the RAH fans would wave there Rolexs'! But at this gig there seemed to be so much of a good atmosphere. There were approx 15 - 20,000 people and all seemed to be enjoying themselves singing at the tops of there voices especially for the Police songs. Been a while since I have been to a Sting gig where there has been such a good atmosphere so to all that were there ...Thank You for making it a good day!!!

Hey, anyone out there whining about Sting taking money from Compaq, ask yourself three questions:
1. Do you buy or trade STING bootlegs, tape his TV performances, or take pix of him at shows? If so, you are engaging in illegal activities that are
taking money away from him.
2. Do you complain about concert ticket prices or CD prices? If so, you are saying you want to see prices stay where they are or go lower, so if Sting
needs corporate dollars to promote himself, so what?
3. Are you a fan of a big USA sports star? If so, do you whine about the money they make when they endorse products? I'll bet you don't. Yet some of
the biggest sports stars' salary contracts alone are more than Sting's entire net worth -- do they _need_ that endorsement money or exposure? They sure
don't. Why is it OK for them to do that, but not for Sting to sell his image for what he can get so he can bring his music to within 500 miles or less of
where you live?
Who's the beneficiary of the money he makes from corporate sponsorship? You are, for one! That money helps give Sting and the people who work for him
enough to live on (and live well, granted, but not as well as they did 10 years ago -- he had to lay off some of his staff a while ago, didn't he?) and put
back into music development and production costs, so they can bring you that next new album and tour.
Do you love Sting and his music? If you do, let him do whatever he wants to do to keep going and stay out there for us.
And don't forget that a couple of years ago, he, like a number of other big but mature stars, sold shares against his catalog, to raise money. As I
remember it, everyone on this list was saying, "Wow, look how great Sting is, his catalog is worth 45 million dollars" or whatever. But that means that
there are shareholders who are watching over the shoulders of Sting and everyone he works with, and if he doesn't perform money-wise and popularity-wise,
his whole rep and life could go down the drain. Let the man do what he has to do to survive. Who are we to put a negative rap on him? What would you do
USA Today reported today that NBC is releasing a compilation of their Summer Concert Series performances. They didn't list Sting, but you never know...
Also, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne did a interview with Rolling Stone (either the most recent issue or the one before), and Sharon called Sting a prat. She refered to him as "Lord Sting", and how he's trying to kiss ass to get the title. She also mentioned that she and Ozzy went to a party thrown by Elton John, and that Sting and Trudie kind of had that "don't come near me" look, meanwhile Sharon is giving a "don't worry, I won't" look. It's a lot funnier when you read it (timing is everything). Man, could you imagine her and Miles in a room together?

In the US!!! I just heard "After the Rain has Fallen" on KFOG 104.5 in San Francisco. I was about to get out of my car, but of course I couldn't until after the song was over.
So I guess ATRHF does have a future in the US after all.

I have a ticket for the 8/1 Sacramento show that I can't use. It's in section 104, row 6, seat 19. I paid about $90 for it, but my primary interest is making sure it gets used. So if anyone's interested (at almost any price), please email me.
Thanks,
Julliette
