I just received this mail and another from Mollie about people leaving the list....are these old posts? Far as I know, things are quiet here right now.

All these saccharine posts over the last couple of hours; bemoaning
the list of yester-list and bidding farewell to all the "good people"
who have
been driven out because of the "dumbing down" of the list. Good, get
your boring and uptight asses out of here!
As evidenced from what has been posted this evening, some veteran
listees feel their Police list era is OVER: Well, if that is the case,
please.....quit ADVERTISING IT! Christ, that's as "childish" as my "On
Any Other Day" jibe! What's really pathetic is that my easily
dismissable jest at Efrain's complaining and the resulting song parody
(btw, the ONLY post of the resulting "STOP IT" thread that contained
*ANY* "Police" content) would somehow become the fanfare for all the
resulting "farewell dear list"/"oh, what a sad day for the Police list
this is..." bandwidth waste.....(sigh).....ya know, do someone a favor
while you're leaving and make available any window seats for the list
departing passengers *WHO ARE NOT* wearing the Depends Diapers,
alright?!?!
Now, back to your regularly scheduled Sting/Jaguar commercial
review...

Melanie Gold quotes Sting ('cos he told her himself!):
> The song ended up as part of the soundtrack of Brimstone and Treacle, a > film in which I played the devil. One tabloid newspaper branded the film > "sick and disgusting". I didn't think it was that bad. The soundtrack won a
> Grammy. The kids got their "O" Levels."
You know, I remember the first time I read those comments and I
felt that Sting generalized his character in the film, and did so in a
rather disregarding fashion. Indeed, I never consider Martin to be "the
devil," but rather, somebody (forgive my lack of spiritual training) who
had "slipped out" of hell for a bit of mischief!
He didn't think it was "that bad"? Christ, I think it's the best
movie he's DONE! Always enjoyed it. Sort of Sleeping Beauty-ish, if
you catch my meaning... Great song; great soundtrack! Love the Squeeze
and Go Go's inclusions too boot!

I remember the first Police Concert I ever went to, well, I don't remember
much of it, but I do remember that the Go-Go-s opened for them, and they got
booed off the stage, and people were throwing bottle on and off the stage....
I don't really remember the date ... it was somewhere in Philadelphia, very
early 80's, 'cause I know I couldn't drive yet ... it was summer....gee I
wish. I could remember it better!!!

Just been reading the article on stingchronicity and the reviews about the new Police single. Sounds like the record co have massive hopes for this. It sure would be great to see the band back in the charts after so long!
