Subject: [PS] The scoop on FJ?
Date: 16 Jan 2000 22:56:12 -0700
Hi all,
just a few questions regarding Fantastic Journey. I was back home with my
parents in Switzerland for the holidays and to my surprise found and picked
up Pro Pinball: Fantastic Journey in German packaging which I carried back
to the USA. I'm totally in the dark about the game otherwise. Was it
released officially? Was it released in Europe only or what are the plans
for a global release (USA distribution especially)? When will the highscore
entry page open (it says coming soon) and will it accept scores from the
initial release 1.01 VIII? I'd hate my best scores be nullified by a new
required version. I also understand that PP:FJ is the last game in the
series. Sad sad sad. But what about distribution!?!?!?!?! Was I lucky to
find and buy the game in Europe? Let me know. I'm already an outcast,
nothing else would surprise me but it will help to keep my review page up
to date and keep me informed. Cheers,
-Martin

Unfortunately there is a scoring bug in FJ, that means high scores won't be
accepted from version 1.01. A new version is just going into testing and
should hopefully be released soon. The high score page will be opened
shortly after the release of the new version.
FJ hasn't been released in the US yet, and I'm afraid that I don't have a
firm date when it will be.

Hi,
--- DEVIL'S ISLAND COMPLETED!! ---
The big news is that Devil's Island is finally finished! There is an
Internet download version available from RegNow:
https://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=3244-1
The download version is available immediately via credit card for
US$9.95, and offers resolutions of 800x600 and 1600x1200, along with all
the other features you'd expect from a BOS pinball table, including a
firing cannon, squishable scorpions, and an erupting volcano multiball.
Devil's Island is a standalone product which doesn't require the
original Balls of Steel program to run. We have also reduced the chances of
technical difficulties by removing VESA in favour of DirectX support.
A boxed version of the game is available via mail-order for US$12.99
plus shipping from Expert Software, and includes support for some
additional resolutions.
