Subject: [MV] Combo reply / 10 worst films of 2000
Alright, I got several replies about the "10 worst films of
2000" message so here's a general "Combo-reply" ... hehe !!
Most people liked Final destination and The whole nine
yeards a lot more than I did ... I kept reading comments
saying "Oh, that wasn't so bad ..." ;-)
On the other hand, a lot of people agreed that the
following films indeed deserved to be on such a list :
- - Me, myself & I
- - Cecil B. Demented
- - Bless the child
- - Rules of engagement
I must be the only one who saw the following films :
- - Trixie, comedy with Emily Watson ... I was thinking
0.5/5 after the first 30 minutes, luckily it got "better"
afterwards, ending up at 1.5/5 ... Emily plays a cookie
detective trying to solve a corruption case, Nick Nolte is
the bad guy.
- - The Last Stop, Awful thriller that is more silly than
scary, stars Rose McGowan, the curveous lil' blondie from
the original "Scream" film, remember that garage door scene
?? She's stuck in a motel, raging snow storm, a serial
killer is in there too, but which one of the weirdos is it
?? Take your pick.
- - Baise-moi, awful french film about 2 girls on the run.
Very graphic in part but the acting is simply HORRIBLE ..
not tomention the dialogues ! 1/5
- - Black out ... Silly TV movie about a power failure in a
big city ... a girl is trapped in a shopping mall with a
killer of course ... Not scary at all, simply ridiculous
... (Note for later, never watch a movie made for one of
the major TV networks like ABC, CBS ... etc.)
- - New Waterford girl ... someone said they had seen and
loved it at least ... Goofy film about a girl living in a
small canadian town .. .She has plenty of issues ... I can
barely remember anything about this one and I saw it only 3
months ago ... I recall a girl hitting people in the face,
and knocking them out cold every time with one punch ... as
ifffff !! It was ridiculous seeing grown men hitting the
deck after being "hit" by this tiny girlie.
Other titles that were suggested (Partial list) I added my
ratings to the ones I have seen ... NS = Not seen !
- -----------------------------------------------
Pay it forward, 3/5
Small time crooks, NS
Down to you, NS
Autumn in New York, NS
Grey Owl, NS
The family man, NS
Proof of life, 3/5
Bedazzled, NS
Mission to MArs, NS
Committed, NS
Battlefield Earth, NS
Lucky numbers, NS
Joe Dirt, NS (I think this one is a 2001 film though !)
Loser, NS
Hanging up, NS
Lost souls, 2.5/5
The watcher, 3/5
Boys and girls, NS
Urban legends 2, NS
Ready to Rumble, NS
Next best thing, NS
Titan AE, NS
Whipped, NS
Several of these films would make it on my list of "Worst
of 2000" so I am glad I didn't see them in any case !
Cheers !
Marc ;-)

Subject: [MV] Sleepy head ... 8 million ways to die (1986)

*** The opposite happened to me today, I was feeling like a
sleepy head ... I was trying to watch this bad film :
"8 million ways to die" (1986) ... 2/5 .. .and I kept
falling asleep, I was watching 30 minutes then I was
falling asleep so I would have to rewind the tape a lil'
... start to watch it again ... ZZzzzzzzzz, once more,
going back ...
This film wasn't awful or boring, I just don't know what
the problem was but it was quite a difficult film to watch
entirely, it was making me sleepy the whole time ...
Jeff Bridges plays this ex-cop who tries to find why a
hooker was murdered, this hooker had asked him to help her
get away from her pimp, etc. ... Rosanna Arquette is also a
hooker .. and there's Andy Garcia as the typical bad guy,
wowo, was he faking that accent or what ??
There is one totally ludicrous mexican stand off scene in
there too, people shouting for 3 minutes straight ... "PUT
YOUR GUN DOWN !!!" "LET HER GO !!!" "NO YOU FIRST !!!"
"I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS' GONZALES !!" "IN YOUR DREAMS' PAL
!!" "LEAVE HER ALONE !!" "NO NON NON NO NO !!"... bla-bla
... I couldn't believe my eyes, t'was embarassing for
Garcia espeSILLY. ;-)
This was Hal Ashby's last film apparently ... too bad !
Marc ;-)
