Man, I'm with you. I was on an Episode 1 mailing list, before the film
opened here in the UK, and the bozo that runs it decided to have a
discussion about whether 2 major characters who were killed offf would
return in Episode II, this was a good month before the film opened in
the UK. Geez, I was freakin' angry.
The worse for me was when I was waiting in line to see "The Crying Game"
and a couple came out, she turned to her boyfriend and said, "I can't
believe she was a ............." (anyone who has seen the film will
know).
The internet and email are fantastic, revolutionary modes of
communication, however, it would be nice to have the ending of a film
sneak up on me. Oh well, its the price we pay for loving movies so
much. If we HAVE to read as much as possible about upcoming films, then
we must expect to lose out a little on the "magic" of surprise!

I was informed of the BWP being sued by a indie newspaper and 2
co-workers. I'll find out the information and get back to you on monday.
About Hannibal..... Sarah Michelle Gellar is signed up. They are still
trying to talk Anthony Hopkins and Jody Fisher on jumping back on board.
No date is set for this film yet.

As far as I've read, any casting decisions are just rumor an conjecture at
this point. Check Cinescape Online and Dark Horizons.
I have read that the only firm thing is that Ridley Scott is to direct.
Aside from that, the script is being finished or rewritten, supposedly by
David Mamet. And, Foster is quoted as saying she's not signed but is waiting
to see how the script is. From what i've read, the Woods rumor is just a
rumor, and I have also heard that he may be playing the part of ass****
justic dept. agent paul krendlar if not verger. But, even he AND gellar are
just rumors.
Noone has signed, although it would be pointless to proceed without Hopkins
and Foster, but the Woods and Gellar rumors have NEVER been cofirmed.

FYI: It would be more accurate to call it Manhunter 3 than Silence of the
Lambs 2, since Manhunter preceded SOTL. Then again the series is similar to
the Rambo series in that the first movie: First Blood, wasn't nearly as
successful as it's sequel: Rambo: First Blood part II. In fact most people
had not seen First Blood till after the success of Rambo 2. If you look at
new copies of First Blood, I believe they've relabeled it Rambo: First Blood
part I. Anyway, if you didn't know Manhunter was the first in the series,
check it out. It was not nearly as good as SOTL, but was still a very good
movie: A little Miami Vice'ish thanks to Michael Mann, but that makes it
fun too.

Can you imagine if Antonio Banderas starred in a movie with George Clooney?
It would be a mug-fest of cataclysmic proportions.

Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster have both signed for it. James Woods
is to play victim/killer Mason Verger. Sarah Michelle Gellar is to play
Vergers lesbian sister, and it is to be directed by Ridley Scott.
Is that enough for ya!

I tend to agree that off-topic postings should be avoided (even though I
responded to the Pop Quiz) but they don't bother me nearly as much as
spoilers. Also, may I suggest that it's not necessary to include the
ENTIRE text of a message when responding to it. When people do this, the
messages get longer and longer, as more and more prior text gets
incorporated.

Oh, I agree that it is off-topic, and although fun (and I did participate),
it really doesn't belong. But so do a LOT of other stuff that is allowed:
TYPING IN ALL CAPS.
Quoting the ENTIRE bloody message(s) to add one line (me-too posts)
Virus warnings, hoaxes, and other TRUE SPAM.
Flame wars in general.
Yet these (and many others) are allowed, with nary a complaint from the
same people that (justifiably) have spoken up about this. I try to keep my
opinions to myself (as many of the offenders REFUSE to realise when they
are way out of bounds), because in the past flame wars have developed. As
a matter of fact, I have seen people attacked by other listmembers for
attempts to enforce Netiquette.
So, in the Grand Scheme of Things (tm), this was a minor breach of
proticol, and not nearly as bad as some transgressions that have been let
go (besides, it was a bit of fun). And having said that, there are many,
many lists where behaviour is even worse (for example, on one list the
MODERATOR himself is in the habit of making me-too posts).
