mute have long been used to making money. depeche mode? erasure? nick cave?
none of them exactly unknown. V2 on the other hand have a long record of not
being able to sign a band worth jack shit. they do have the wonderful
rinocerose, and moby ofcourse, but the rest is generally rubbish
i still think that some of the people are into music, but its lawyers who
run the industry now, and survival is hard in a world of sharks...

erm, its called 'Moby - Replay', available from most online book stores, and
even on the highstreets. its not exactly critical of moby though. i do
accuse him of manipulating the media with his carefully chosen against the
grain ideologies... but that's nothing new.
the thing is the industry hate it when mere journalists get too close to
artists. it means they can't control access any more.
ho hum
If anyone is interested, the new Prodigy stuff is absolutely amazing. Not
that the powers that be would like me to have actually heard it, and they
would be even less happy about non-record company people being able to talk
about it but... the thing is, and this also applies to Moby, in a lot of
cases the assistant assistants in the record companies haven't heard things
either, and they can't stand it when other people have. so they get all
adolf hitler on non company types, while telling everyone that they're good
friends with the artist and of course have had tapes of the album for eons.
the industry is run by small people with egos which need to be supported by
lies and cocaine. sadly these small people climb to high positions, yet they
remain small. meanwhile the industry is in decline and its the fans that get
blamed because they like to download mp3s or whatever. really its because
small people with chemically enhanced egos will always make bad decisions.
and Moby, like every other artists you know and love, is surrounded by
people like this.... go figure
... and if you think moby's managemnt is bad, you wanna try and deal with
fucking fatboy slim's people... absolutely impossible arrogance.
damn i'm angry today... too many idiots
like I just produced a CDRom for Source Records and they couldn't play it on
their 1000 year old PCs, so they rejected the job. Until I pointed out that
they trying to play the equivalent of a PS2 game ion an Atari. And trhis
person is high up in the company... do you have to be a dumb assed idiot to
climb in the music industry? apparently 'yes'...

I personally believe that Moby is INDEED somewhat naive, until someone else
cares to point out the seriousness of a 'something' or a 'cause' out to him - IF
that point ever reaches him, through the censors and all ...

I think it's especially the V2 branch that is more keen on money than on the
music (the recent thing with Mick Jagger makes a perfect example) ... I still
have my beliefs in Mute ... you might call me naive as well ;-)

Just wanted to thank Bart for making those songs
available to us loyal fans here. It made my tough
week much much happier. Yeah I got a strong Bowie
vibe, too.
And I'm elated to hear the Prodigy is still putting
out good stuff. Especially since they'll be at the
Coachella Festival in a month (will be my first time
seeing Bjork, too). Is it true that some members of
Prodigy left a while ago? It sounded kind of bitter,
but for all I know I'm putting out rumors. Anyone
know for sure?

I almost want to frame this quote. It's really awful,
but very well put. Sorry you're having such a
frustrating time.

okay. i know about that book. i was jsut having a hard
time as i couldn't see how your book would have made
them hate you. they should be happy you were so nice.
maybe they should think about the fact that if they
aren't nice to them that you might publish a not so
flattering portrait of their moby.

why does the term "ass wipe" coome to mind about now.
don't they realize that you pointing stuff out on the
boards is nothing more than publicity for moby? it is
sort of like when ET does a story on a celebrity or
someone prints an article, or a book gets published.
as someone once said, any publicity is good publicity,
just spell the name right.
anyway, i say give 'em hell. they sure deserve it.

I've just seen an album called "Natural Blues", where all the original song
that were sampled for Play is featured, plus some extra blues-classics.
Unfortunately I don't remember the Label that put it out (i'll try to find
it) .
