just got my hands on the 2 tiesto mixes for 'we are all made of
stars' the vocal and instumental mixes.

tiesto is a friend of mine and i am sure he is very happy with the
mixes to say the least.

the mixes are great, with the filtered guiars and vocals.

bring it on!

just emailed my V2 rep to get an interview with him - maybe Moby will
remember me heh heh .

Thanks Bart :) Even after all that, my computer spontaneously started DLing
again, hours later, even though the FTP client was closed and everything. I'd
never known it to do that. It's possessed.

As for the singles, I'm in agreement with what's been said. I love the sound on
We Are All... The Animal Rights allusions make perfect sense, and I think it's
really interesting to hear the same aural qualities but with completely different
emotions.

Landing is my favorite. What I said on the boards about it was..
i thought was great [...] very sexy, late night music. like the kind of music i'd
want to hear in a movie by the latest hip young director in a scene where two
people are outside, 2 in the morning, kissing while standing, while cars drive by
quickly and they're oblivious to it all. i really really Landing.

I love most of what Tiesto is doing these days, his "In My Memory" CD
was one of my faves of last year. Great stuff.

on my computer's part at first..but it did not work..
is there anyway that it might be in a place like morpheus soon so people
like me, who are simply not good enough for ftp to download it..i heard it
originally on the mute site and i am singing it to myself on a daily
basis..man, i cannot wait till this record comes out...much love..elie

i reckon 'Stars' sounds like a cross between non-gwen Southside and Bowie's
'Always Crashing in the Same Car' (from 'Low'). In fact it reminds me alot
of Bowie's Berlin era stuff. Quite detached, melodically sparse, but very
textural. Can hear the Air comparison, although I don't think Moby is quite
as ironic as the Air boys, and '10,000 Hz Legend' was a bit too ironic prog
rock at times.

Here's an interesting thing though, at least something which Mark will
understand. Apparently the management have ruled that I'm not allowed to
hear the album before its released! So from from official Mute biographer to
public enemy number one in one small step and an unofficial book. Or to put
it another way, from being one of the only UL journalists/ editors to still
support Moby through his unpopular times, from being the first editor to put
him on the cover of a non dance UK mag during the Play campaign, to being an
enemy of the Moby industry.

God that book must have upset somebody. maybe its because it sold to loads
of fans who knew nothing of his life before play and subsequently went out
and bought up older albums. Or maybe its because I know too much and they
know what I left out of te book and are scared that it might surface in a
magazine feature, which they'll have less legal control over!

Love the new single though and can't wait to download the album!!!

Artist management and record companies can do strange things. It's like
because of the fact that they can do little or nothing about the music
piracy out there they start to show their power by screwing people who
actually support the artist and nicely buy the original sound carrier. What
is this world coming to?

Picture yourself a vegetable store, some kid steals a carrot, the shopkeeper
yells, but doen't take any real action. Then the regular customer from
around the block comes in, greets the shopkeeper and orders his regular
vegetables. The customer then realises he hasn't brought his wallet and asks
the shopkeeper to write it down for him, so he can pay next time. Will the
shopkeeper now kick the customers ass and tell him to never come back? Very
unlikely... But this is what's happening right here, and it scares me.

So, if you can't make it as a gangster, no talent is wasted, become a
manager at an artist management or a record comapany, it seems that that job
requiers the same skills.

And where's Moby in all this? Either he doesn't see it or doesn't want to
see what's going on. If I remember correctly Mark once contacted Moby about
something quite simular to this case, Moby only evaded the topic. Where is
the always so outspoken honest arist I once knew as Moby now? I should
probably post this message to moby.com (if it wasn't erased by the admin)
Moby tends to read the boards every once in a while. I don't think i would
gain much support on the Moby.com boards, I hardly ever visit them, but when
I do I always see why I don't go there. I can't believe what these people
talk about, it sure isn't related to Moby in any way.

Every one of my posts to the Moby.com boards whilst writing the book were
erased, so i don't bother going there any more. They censored me, so I cut
them out.
... and where is the anti-censorship, pro-choice Moby in all of this? When
an artist becomes so big that the machine around him can represent him in a
way that goes against his supposed ethics, then does the machine represent
the artist or the commercial concern? Moby the trademark, I think, has
little to do with Moby the person any more. His thoughts and feelings play
second place to the market place. In fact the guy distributing the
vegetables is more powerful than the guy growing them. So much so that he
can spray the end result with any kind of pesticide just to increase profit,
without the farmer's consent.
Which is why we got so  any genetically modified versions of Play, and why
this next campaign will be equally merciless in its pursuit of global
domination for '18' the brand.
This is not to knock the creative worth of '18', just the way that small
companies like Mute and V2 seem to be hell bent on being more aggressive
than the majors. And when they can't kick the big boys asses, they bully the
small fish.

You have got a point there. But I cannot immagine that Moby has no idea of
what is going on. Hmm, on the other hand, reading his latest updates on
Moby.com, Moby tells that he had no idea that other people use his name on
tracks, DUH? Ok, not everybody spends as much time on the interweb as I do,
but surely, someone must have pointed Moby to some tracks he supposedly
made, if it wasn't only to have a laugh... So I'm still asking myself: Is
Moby this naive, or is he putting on a good show pretending. I don't know
moby personally, so how do I know what is true and what not?

money talks. they were nice until they figured out
they could actually make some money. prior they were
just in it for the music and now they are really
trying to make money whilst pretending to still be in
it for the right reasons. people have an easy time
keeping their priorities in the right place when they
aren't making money, but once they make money, they
are just as bad as everyone else.
