Why doesn't Moby pay *us*? If I may believe his words, he finds performing
just as pleasant as we find attending his concert. So I'll start off with a
low bid: Moby may have *me* as an audience member for only $30 (traveling
costs and drinks not included of course) That's a bargain, if I say so
myself. There are a lot of other artists who'd have to pay double to get me
to party to their music. Oh well, now that I'm practicaly giving myself
away anyhow, I'll throw in another special offer, for only $15 extra I'll
bring a friend! Can you believe that?!
Ok, Moby (or management), if you're reading this and you are interested in
this bargain, just call 0900-rentafan or email buyme@rent-a-fan.com

Subject: (mobility) OT Coachella & www.iAbolish.com
First, DJ Paul, who is responsible for that very funny quote about Pac-man? It's brilliant haha...
Well, I know it's been almost 2 weeks since Coachella & maybe someone else talked about it on here, but if anyone's curious on how it went, here it is:
JANE'S ADDICTION was wonderful; they came on around 9pm. A small parade went through the crowd at the start & they had well-choreographed dancers/actors on stage. The crowd was HUGE & Perry walked through it to sing on top of a light stage (20' from me!), then the whole band performed at the back of the crowd for a while behind the sound guys. Then FLEA joined on the main stage. At the encore, Perry brought an ex-slave from Sudan to tell his story & to promote www.iAbolish.com (which you all have to check out, it's astonishing what's going on...people were in tears.
Last Coachella, basically everything was on time so that you could plan seeing half of this band's show & then catching someone else. Not this time; almost everything was very late. That's how I missed RONI SIZE, most of WEEZER (walked through when they sang "Hashpipe"), SMITH&MIGHTY and TRICKY.
IGGY POP was very good, too. It blew my mind to see him perform classic Stooges songs. He'd pour beer on the audience, pick his nose & flick the boogers at us. Once he threw the mike & random people got to sing "Lust for Life" which was hilarious. Good thing he didn't try to stage-dive, did you hear about that accident he had when he tried that once & everyone moved out of the way? I think he broke a bone...awful!
DOC MARTIN was good & FATBOY did a good job DJing though everything I heard was very mainstream (Madonna's "Music", old Daft Punk).
But the most shocking set was by SQUAREPUSHER. He is one insane Canadian! The only freak who could dance to his perverted experimental beats was an acid-tripper in a Robin Hood costume. He would laugh wickedly at the audience & control the fireworks that went off. And he knew all the crackles&farts he was making though they sounded almost random. He's worth seeing, like a musical-performance-comic.
Ok, now for the angry rant: Last Coachella was 2 days long so it was fine that things were shut down at midnite. This time they booked Chemical Brothers at 11pm (in the "Insonmiac Tent" - you'd think that was a HINT!) & the Orb at 11:30pm which made me figure heck they'll shut down at 2am, right? WRONG. I went to see the Orb (since the Chemicals were only DJing), but they came on late. 10 minutes into the set they were having technical problems but started "Little Fluffy Clouds" anyway. They threw out free Tees & a stuffed lamb toy (EXACTLY like the one on the cover of that live CD). 20 minutes into the set, the power was shut down, the Orb was PISSED, throwing their headphones & stuff. I'm still in disbelief that I saw what was probably the Orb's shortest set ever...
The day had started badly anyway: people were turned back from the entrance line because no bags were allowed, no matter how small. So once we got back to the car & everything was smashed into pockets, we get into the 1 1/2 hour long line only to find in the end that bags were OK, as were water bottles. GRRR! There were police dogs sniffing cars as they came into the parking lot. The whole thing was like a small police state, very uncomfortable.
The Area:One Festival better be much happier...if it becomes a yearly thing (or something like that) I recommend GO TO THE FIRST ONE! They seem to get worse or corrupted the longer they go! (not that I've been to many regular festivals...)

flame me if you want, but I don't think saying you would pay any amount to see MOBY qualifies you as his number one fan. All it means is that you might have more money than someone else to go see him, not that you have more passion. I love depeche Mode more than anything in the world, but I wouldn't pay $100 to see them in Las Veags. Does that mean I'm less of a fan than some guy who did pay that much money? No. All it means is that I am more selective about where and when I see him. When I see him, I want to be pushed up against the speakers on stage, close enough to see his shoes, not sitting in some chair barely able to see him.

*yawn* don't get your panties in a bunch... she was _joking_... she was
being completely facetious in response to something (i think) dj pagan
wrote.
oh and here's the flame you asked for: damn touchy aol people!
quick question: if _that_ does not "qualify you as his number one fan",
what does? rhetorical. we know there's no such thing. :p

I honestly did not mean to attack elie, I realize now it was a joking comment. But there are people out there who view liking a band or artist as a competition to see who can buy the most stuff, who can see them the most times, etc. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
