I'm not sure, but I think Moby has said in numerous interviews that he=
doesn't personally have control over who uses and who doesn't use his=
music... I don't see how it really matters anyway. Just a big fad that=
will fade with time.

Because I'm sure the paycheck between Knoor and CK was a substantial
difference.
Something such as steak sauce would obviously be more against vegan aspec=
ts
than say clothing manafacturers..
V2 can't just sit on an album worth millions because of vegan standards,
there's not a lot of Vegan Food and Animal Liberation commercials to make=
a
lot of money off of.
It wasn't a matter of money before morals. I don't think it is morally
wrong to eat animals anyways. Nor does V2 Records.
It was a matter of who would put out "Play" for a decent contract. V2
wouldn't sign him if he had a long list of "you can't do's" , Moby at the
time didn't have a lot of demanding power.

so money before morals?? I know he turned down Knorr for use of his musi=

to sell B=E9arnaise sauce (goes with steak). Why can't he turn down CK (o=

the worst)??
>>> avtech@optonline.net 01/05/01 03:59PM >>>
because V2 Records get payed a hell of a lot of money and they own Moby.
that would be the most logical reason.

well, hmmm I can see this is a Moby mailing list and not an animal rights =
list...that is quite obvious...
Moby's life has not be in danger not his family...so that is a very bad =
example..and him donating the CK money to charity, does not deter from the =
fact that CK tests on animals (a lot of them)...
You see I am not trying to start anything here..But the reason I got into =
Moby was the "Animal Rights" LP... and when I head Porcelain in a =
Nordstrom ad, I was very upset...
I know everyone here will try and justify Mobys actions by putting the =
blame squarely in the hands of V2....it is all about money, I guess...
give 100% or give nothing...the choice is yours :-)

i'm taking this one offlist because it looks like
it could get deadly. i don't want a flame war
starting by what i have to say.
there is so much that goes into being a vegan,
rock star, techno king, and whatever other roles
that you put on moby that they comes time when
they come into conflict. if you place being a
vegan above all else, then your opinion is
justified. when would you cross that line,
though, paul? for a million dollars? for a
billion dollars? (that's a lot of charity money
for peta and such) if your life was threatened?=20
if the lives of those you respect were
threatened? you tell me when your role as vegan
goes away and your role as humanitarian comes
into play.
i don't agree with the way moby is allowing his
record company to make decisions for him, but as
long as he's able to help others out with that
money, then so be it. the truth of the world is
that we play a number of roles in our lives. the
meaning of life is really to wear many hats.=20
perhaps they weren't the best choices, and maybe
he didn't even make them. but now that he's in
the contract, he is doing the best he can to help
others with this 'blood money'. the world isn't
black and white, please see the forest for the trees.
