Subject: (mobility) Boynton Beach Florida
After waiting 3 or 4 months for moby to announce a florida date, i purchased
tickets for his show at the Orbit in Boynton Beach. Several Friends came
along and we drove all afternoon to get to the club.
Upon arriving at the club, we found out that moby had decided he didn't want
to play there. This announcement had been made 3 or 4 hours prior to the
show. Granted the place was under a bit of renovation, but definitely ready
for a show. this was not good enough for our dear moby, though.
So Moby, I want to personally thank you for the $25 i wasted in gas last
night and for the $24 in ticketmaster service charges i won't get back. I
want to thank you for the total of 6 hours i spent driving last night. I
want to say thanks for NO advance warning to the list or on the web page
that might have saved me the money and the drive
Hopefully Moby can reschedule so that the happy people of Boynton Beach
Florida can see his show sometime. I however, will not be attending that or
any other show in the future.
I must say I've enjoyed following your career from indi techno guru to
commercial sellout and now to political pundit. This little event takes the
cake though... I don't think I can respect an artist who refuses to play a
show because of a dusty club.
Its been fun Moby! Enjoy the rest of your tour.

Did Moby chat on AOL last night? If so, would anybody care to post the

I just noticed, months after ordering a bunch of CD singles and 12"s
from Mute, that my second Hymn 12" (L12MUTE161), was only pressed on
one side, so I only got 2 of the 4 tracks. I tried sending email to
the address Mute has on their site, mutebank@mutelibtech.com, and it
got returned to me with an error saying that the mail relay has been
turned off. Does anyone know an email address of someone at Mute
that I could talk to about exchanging this record? Thanks everyone.

Subject: Re: (mobility) Elections
I could not help responding to this whole topic of the US Presidential
Elections. I find the discussion very interesting, and amusing (this is
meant as a good thing). I am a student of political science and I am very
happy to see that we are discussing political issues on this list.
I voted for Gore (I voted absentee). I like Nader, he is a good guy, but I
would NEVER vote for him to be President. I believe a President needs to be
a politician, a person who can and will compromise...Nader is not that man.
I also feel ashamed that Nader has let Bush use his adds. That is as low as
any candidate can go...it is equal to mudslinging in my opinion. I disagree
with Gore on the Death Penalty and Free Trade, but I agree with him strongly
on Health Care, Education, Gun Control and Social Security. I feel that out
of all the candidates running, he is the best for the job.
The main reason why I wanted to respond to this topic is because the
messages here have a theme which is common to discussion on the
Elections...that is the 2 party system...
It may shock some of you but there are more than 3 Candidates running for
President. Nader is NOT the only 3rd party candidate. I suggest that if you
like Nader...check out John Hagelin's Webpage and www.hagelin.org he is very
similar to Nader and is running on the Reform/Natural Law/Indpendent Ticket.
I actually considered voting for Hagelin because I think he would make a
much better president than Nader.
The two party system does not work well. I admit that, however, we need to
get rid of the Electoral College system before a 3rd party candidate will be
elected. Those are the the facts as I see them.
I don't believe that a vote for Nader is a vote for Bush, but I think that
one must examine the consequences of voting for Nader in their state.
I have no problem with Moby encouraging voting for Gore...many musicians are
encouraging votes for one candidate or another. I ask, those who don't like
Moby endorsing a candidate (or more specifically Gore), would you feel the
same way if he were endorsing Nader?
Enough about that.

I must say that this would be pretty bad if the only reason he didn't
make that show was he didn't want to play there. In San Diego he
played at this place called Canes near the beach and the stage is so
small he didn't have room to play Thousand at the end (couldn't stand
up on the keyboard) so he just skipped it.. but he went through with
it.

Hmmm just a month or two ago at the Virgin Megastore interview in
Hollywood he seemed so nice and humble still. To take almost an hour
and a half answering questions of fans seemed like a real nice thing to
do. He even sat through people asking multiple questions because we
all didn't want it to end (seeing the same people over and over ask
questions made it *seem* like it had long been time to go- but he
didn't until people stopped asking questions)
I'm rambling in this post but my point is I would give him the benefit
of the doubt for now if it was just a 'rumor' that he didn't want to
play in the club because it was dusty or whatever. That just seems so
unlike him...?

the issue of q mag. with u2 on the cover comes with a free "chill-out" cd.
the first song on it is novio. very nice, i thought, but then i read the
notes about it in the magazine, and they compared it to porcelain. still,
it's a different moby song getting out there. they also mentioned him in a
few other places in the mag. there was a bit about musicians who have world
records--thousand was in there, of course!

Chris: Both Bush and Gore are part of the 2 party system many of us
despise, including Moby. However, what Moby is saying is that a vote for
Nader is a vote for Bush because it will split the democratic voters. Bush
is really stupid at least Gore is smart. I was idealistic too-I've voted my
heart since 1976, when I turned 18. I voted in every election and the
first time my guy won was Clinton. Vote your hearts, young idealists. As
long as you vote and work to change what you despise in any way you can.

However, I only just heard "Southside" and...it sounds like a hit with a
