(mobility) What happened?

From: Robyniwitz@aol.com
Subject: (mobility) Letterman (Or Why I Fear Paparazzi)
I saw Mr. Moby today at the Letterman show. I did get to take a quick peek
at the sound check before the audience came in, even though I wasn't supposed
to (when you're a page at the Letterman show, you take advantage of whatever
perks you can, even if you have to invent a few). He and Gwen were all
bundled up during the check, as it is very cold in there. Then one of the
producers almost smacked me in the face with the door as I was peeking, so I
went back to work.
The performance was grand. Moby wore a Gore/Lieberman sweatshirt. I danced
about in the balcony (one of those aforementioned imaginery perks), much to
the befuddlement of an elderly couple and the light guy.
But the real kicker was after the show when I ran around to the stage
door where the fans were to see if I could speak to Moby. In March, there
were maybe 6 people waiting for him, and I had a nice chat and got an
autograph. This time there were easily 50 hysterical fans and many more
paparazzi. I inadvertantly found myself in the middle of these people (who
barely even knew who Moby was, but dagnabbit, they were gonna yell and yell
until he looked at them so they could get his picture). As I am wee, about
5-feet-tall, I was crushed in the crowd, and could barely make out that Moby
was wearing a suit. Then Moby left, and the paparazzi left, and the fans
left, and I collected myself and went home. It was rather scary.
That's about it. If Moby's reading this (and I know he doesn't, but it's
worth a shot), I just wanted to say "Thank you."--and watch that step coming
out of the building next time. Oh how I worry.

Everyone does silly, egocentric and inconsiderate things form time to time.
I hope this is not a harbinger of fame hurting someone very much loved.

This is a little late after the show but its the first chance i have had. I
saw Moby in Philly on Oct. 28 at the electric factory. The show was
amazing...he played for over two hours and played a lot. He cover "the end"
by the doors and also played some rock and punk from animal rights as well
as giving each performer with him to solo and show off there skills. Played
a lot from play as well as older material.
Oh yeah and if you go to yahoo and watch the webcast at about 47 minutes in
during "the end" you can see a little light waving around. That me and a
girl next to me holding up our lighters during the song in true 60's
fashion.

Hooray for Moby, who else would pull a stunt like wearing a t-shirt for a
presidential candidate? He's such a funny kid. I wonder if he'll really move
to Canada when Bush wins tomorrow. It's going to be interesting.

From a TV viewer's point of view: the performance was not all that. Maybe
I was just tired. I did hear Southside (on MIXFM in Chicago) and Gwen adds
a lot to it with her lovely voice.
