Responding to Mark: Tonight has really been weird: re posts. Where indeed
are these people coming from? Blow-up Moby dolls? Please. I've also
noticed some people who've regularly posted are not now. Also, private and
offensive remarks are appearing on the list. I'm new, I understand new
people want to introduce themselves, whatever. I joined the list because
Moby changed my life and is a brilliant musician and a spiritual man. I
joined to learn and share information and love. Anne

I find it kind of well stupid for Moby to ask his fans to actually email
him and ask Ralph Nader to drop out. I don't understand why Moby is so into
a 2 party system, which gives us just one more choice than communist Russia
had. Gore is a dumbass along with Bush, their beliefs aren't that different
and either way nothing is going to change either way. I don't feel like
voting for the lesser of the 2 evils. Moby's main reason for voting for
Gore, cause Bush was pansy in high school, I mean who gives a shit. Gore
has the evil wife that likes to put censorship stickers on everything. Moby
seems to be so against huge corporations but at the same time favors a 2
party system that is just locked into corporate funding and is owned by
these companies, like tobacco for starters. Nader has done more than Gore
ever has for the country and he is only a private citizen. Is Moby really
that scared of Gore losing that he is asking the best candidate for the job
to drop out? I like Moby for his music, but now I am thinking his Pro-Gore
thing is getting annoying, especially by asking his fans on his site to
email Nader to drop out. I find Thom Yorke's running in front of the camera
with a let ralph debate sign, a bit more democratic.

Well, I've gotta say that you're a little incorrect in some of the things=
you've said here...
First of all, Moby's reasoning (along with most other Gore supporters) for=
asking Nader to leave the race is not because he only believes in a 2=
party system. It's because there is no chance of Nader winning the race,=
but if he gets enough votes, he will surely take the win away from Gore.=
Now, for any Bush supporters, that's fine. But for Democrats/Gore=
backers, that's a scary thought.
Also, Gore is so obviously not a dumbass... perhaps a dumbass in what you=
think of him, but in fact, the man is actually quite brilliant. He's full=
of experience, and highly knowledgeable of the issues.
I can agree with you that their thoughts do seem to not differ too much,=
however, when looking at the facts, you can see that they actually do.=
Bush only comes off as being moderate when his real plans are much much=
different than that of Gore's. Specifically, women's right to choose. I=
may not be a woman, but I can say that I would never vote for a person who=
is so anti-choice.
And back to Nader, I don't dislike the guy whatsoever, but seriously, if=
you like Nader, do you think it's right for your vote to only help out=
Bush to win the race? That's a fact here... unless for some strange=
reason you support Nader and Bush over Gore.
Basically, I just feel that your misinterpreting what Moby is saying in his=
messages, and I hope things may be a little more clear for you. It's not=
about disliking Nader at all.
Take Care,
Matt

Subject: RE: (mobility) Moby being evil against nader
I think that if I like Nader I should vote for him. I am not playing a
chess game of whether or not Gore has a better chance or not if Nader stays
in the race. The whole point of voting is to vote for the candidate you
want, not what the mainstream candidate is, or the one most likely to win. I
dislike both Bush and Gore, and it's not my problem if Bush or Gore have a
better chance of winning cause I like Nader than both of them. Basically
Moby is saying that there shouldn't be a alternative choice to the
mainstream because he/she doesn't have a big chance of winning. That's like
saying all the baseball teams should give up because the mets and the
yankees are going to win every year. The democratic and republican parties
don't belong to the people, they belong to corporations. Even if Bush won,
he's not total pro-choice..so what, you think that congress would let him
suddenly make abortion illegal? I highly doubt it, the only thing that is an
issue is RU486..and it's something that hasn't been available until now.
Gore is a dumbass because he is a socially inept. He may be good with
numbers, but public relations, give me a break. Also the fact that I
despise Tipper Gore more so than any other possible first lady. Moby just
posted a bunch of quotes to show Bush is a dumbass, granted he is. But Gore
has said plenty of things to make himself look ignorant also, such things as
I helped invent the internet. The debates are boring because there's
nothing to debate over. They both bickered on the format of the debate
rather than even tackling issues that matter. They didn't let Nader debate,
because both parties are afraid that they will hurt their chances. We
deserve that right to hurt their chances. I enjoyed listening to Nader at
madison square garden more so than any of those debates on tv, because he
was actually mentioning things I cared about. Moby is into this whole 2
party system because it is the accepted system. I always figured he would
be a guy that stood up for choice rather than shoving some corporate owned
guy that we might as well vote for cause he's better than the alternative.
VOTE FOR WHO YOU WANT, not who is most likely to win.
