  60. Okay, So as I said in previous e-mail... I'm a bit incoherent due to a night 
  61. of dancing and drinks *which is someting I do not regularly do* so I really 
  62. don't quite understand what this e-mail is about... so.. in the bible, there 
  63. is a verse that says that homosexuals, thieves, adulters,ect will not inheret 
  64. the kingdom of heaven... Okay Jesus the man did a lot of great things for 
  65. mankind and everything but I think if chistians are to believe in their 
  66. religon they should believe whole heartedly and not just believe in certain 
  67. things of cut out the "bad stuff" which is now considered more socially 
  68. exceptable(ie homosexuality) Religon and beliefs should not be compermised to 
  69. be more Politicaly Correct..
  70. That's my opinon... it's based on myself being an evolutionist and the pope's 
  71. comment in 1995 that says that evolution *might* have occurred... and if a 
  72. leader of a church is doubtful about the church's view on the creation, 
  73. somthing is wrong somewhere..

  90. After thousands of years, and multiple translations through thoroughly 
  91. dissimillar langauges, I find it a bit silly to relly on the particular 
  92. connotative and secondary denotative meanings of words (such as murder) to 
  93. construe the true meaning of god.  Have you ever read the same passage from 
  94. two different versions of a bible?  They are often not even recognizeable as 
  95. the same book.  While murder may mean the premeditated killing of a man now, 
  96. a hundred years ago who knows how people percieived the word.  Undoubtedly 
  97. it still meant the killing of another person, but who knows what meanings 
  98. the word has developed.  And, who cares?  Maybe the translator just thought 
  99. the word sounded good!  Maybe the translator wasn't entirely sure of the 
  100. intention behind the original word.  Personally I've never even seen a bible 
  101. that says "Thou shalt not murder." and I've seen quite a variety of 
  102. different bibles.  I think Christ teaches excellent things.  Religion, 
  103. however, does not.  If god was so adament about some of the issues which 
  104. some religious groups interpret with crusade-like intention I would think he 
  105. would have worded it a little more clearly.  Having argued with many a 
  106. fundamentalist in the past I am well aware of the "being the holy book, god 
  107. has protected it's meaning through inspiration of translators and so 
  108. translation is a non-issue".  My own response, while no less dogmatic, is 
  109. that this kind of reasoning is a simple cop-out.  I would be very interested 
  110. in anyone quoting anything biblical that could defend this. I am not a 
  111. Christian, nor have I ever been.  I do however, have much respect for the 
  112. actual teachings of christ.

  239. Man, this I never expected to see on the news letter.
  240. I am so tempted to respond to so many of the ideas,
  241. but I will just throw in a few thoughts.

  243. about homosexuality, I have friends who are, and they
  244. are some of the nicest people, and I love them, but
  245. the act is still one of the most antagonistic forces
  246. to accomplishing the purpose of life. I won't get into
  247. that. I'm just a guy that loves people and hates sin.
  248. Especially my own. That's the way it should be.

  250. About being arrogant for thinking your religion is
  251. true. I know my church is true, and I have my reasons,
  252. a lot more than just the bible, for feeling that way.
  253. How foolish to base your life on a faith that you
  254. didn't know was true. I think people like to say that
  255. it doesn't matter which religion you belong to because
  256. they don't know how to figure out the truth and they
  257. don't want to go through the trouble.

  259. I have no idea how to relate this to Moby, except that
  260. the only thing that has ever hit me the wrong way
  261. about him is that he is such an avid believer in
  262. Christ, yet I have heard and read things from him that
  263. encourage sex with no mention of marriage.
  264. I'm Curious about that...

  266. I think it's beautiful the way he thanks Christ on
  267. several of his CD sleeves. He's an amazing person and
  268. I think he understands a lot more about god than most
  269. people. Wonder what he's really like though. That's
  270. enough for now.

  300. Ahh yes, foolish it would be to base your life on a church that you did not
  301. fully believe to be true.  Which is why at this point I do not attend a
  302. church.  In my mind no one church is right.  Church is not God.  Church is a
  303. congregation of people whose views are alike on the subject of religion.  I
  304. do not aggree wholeheartedly with any one doctrine of beliefs set out by a
  305. church.  These are their opinions.  As we can see by this whole set of
  306. postings here, no one totally aggrees with anyone elses belief system.  As
  307. can be seen all over the world, churches bashing other churches.  I am
  308. Christian but I am neither Baptist, Catholic, Mormon or otherwise.  My faith
  309. is in Jesus and God not in church and man.

  356. beating southern Baptist, who as another post describes takes part in
  357. protests, hate-monger, and other such activities.  I've obviously taken to
  358. heart the Leviticus passage, but completely ignored the passage about "love
  359. thy neighbor".  Obviously my faith is nothing more than a personal belief
  360. system that has been justified through biblical text.  Your doing the same
