Jesus himself told people that he was divine. "If you have seen me,
you have seen my Father."

All right... not true. The Old Testament contains many references to
Jesus, especially from God himself (Genesis) and the prophets (Isaiah
chapter 53 especially). The New Testament recounts his life, and the
books that follow explain his teachings to the early churches. The
entire book is about God and man, and Christ is the mediator between
the two.
I'll agree that Christianity, especially American Christianity, isn't
a perfect reflection of Christ's teaching.

Barring all the obvious problems with translation, meaning, interpretation,
and authenticity, this statement alone doesn't equal a self proclamation of
divinity. One may consider the Christian "God" as a father to everyone.
"Our father who art in heaven...".

REFERENCES, and ambiguous ones at that. For a religion that purports to
depend on one man (son of god if you are a believer), very few of the
accepted literature actually talks about him, much less quotes him directly.
The Koran, Guru and other religious texts have FAR more direct connection to
the actual roots of those individual religions. The modern layout of the
Christian bible was set up LONG after each of the books was written, in an
almost arbitrary manner at that.

ok, I know I'm not going crazy - didn't moby write to the list sometime last
year with a list of his ten favorite albums of the ninties? (not including
his own work) I have been searching the archives for it, but I haven't been
able to find it. If anyone has it readily available, or remember's what month
it was posted in, I would be very very grateful if they would tell me.

hi!
actually i've been trying to go back in the archives and find every one of
Moby's letter to the list (it would be soooo much easier if there was a
search function for them), but i do happen to have that particular email
transcribed and up on my Moby site here:
http://www.gurlpages.com/nolabel/bjorkdoll/moby.html
once you get to the main page, click on 'mobility' and then the link to
'moby speaks' will be towards the bottom. the email is dated aug 01, 99.
enjoy!

I thought some of you might be interested to know that there's a picture of
Moby featured in the Entertainment Weekly photograph edition. It's shot in
that brown/white color - sepia? and features moby screaming while wrapped in
a snake. There's also a tiny bit of explanation below the picture. It's not
really a big deal, but the next time any of you are waiting in line at the
grocery store, you might want to flip through and check it out. On another
note, thanks very much to Sarah for the top ten list :)

This WOULD be a very pleasant surprise if I still had cable television!!
Does this mean that they will show that again on a repeat of AMP or was it
even an AMP episode? Oh man I can't believe I missed that one...

Hey there,
I guess it wasn't the backing singer Moby used on his shows to support the
release of Everything is Wrong. I saw him at Tribal Gathering (um 1996 I
think), Oxfordshire, UK. It was just after the time he was criticised for
his live performances not being 'live'. At the time he countered the critics
by explaining within his musical genre he was performing 'live' (I can't
remember the techie bits), *but* to show these lesser mortals how much of a
talent he was, he put a band together and must have brought along the
*actual* female singer from everything is wrong and she was perfect! The
voice does not sound altered in *any* way on the CD! Just imagine Into the
Blue, Everytime You Touch Me or When It's Cold I'd Like To Die, in a packed
tent in a field on one of our sunny days!
So what does the 'perfect' Moby T-shirt look like?
Cheers,
Ali

Subject: (mobility) HOW TO GET DJ TRIPP'S NEW E.P.
I'm writing the list due to the amount of e-mails I have recieved regarding
my CD.
It has 8 tracks ranging from trance to house to trip-hop and melodic
drum-n-bass.
Some of it is very Moby-Esque.
The cost is $12 dollars. That gets you shipping and an autographed copy. I'm
limiting the amount of CD's to 50. So this is going to be gone quick it
seems.
So if you'd like a copy please send:
Your name and address and
acheck or money order for $12 to;
Yuma Tripp
923 Pacific Ave.
Santa Cruz CA. 95062
Once again thanks for all your interest. There is more to come.

I would hazard to say that the teachings of
Christ in no way endorse the abuse or
discrimination agaist homosexuals, or any other
minority. Attitudes that cause that abuse and
discrimination are present in many christians,
and are often propogated in his name. But they
are in no way related to his actual teachings or
their genuine practice. In fact, Christ's
teaching and practice, from ministering to a
Samaritan woman -- a person with whom a
respectable Jew would have nothing to do -- to
his healing of a Roman Centurion's "servant"
(more than likely a *pais*), receiving social
outcasts and healing lepers tells me that if
Christ were performing his earthly ministry
today, He would be reaching out to people with
AIDS, the homeless, hanging out in gay bars, and
doing a number of other things that today's
religious establishment would find just as
reprehensible as the religious establishment in
the first century. Christ was called a "friend of
sinners" by his contemporary religious leaders.
He gladly accepted that charge, and said that it
is to those who don't know God that he came to
make God known.
He went on to say that if you have known him, you
have known his Father who sent him. And that by
being a "friend of sinners" or giving to "the
least of these" that you were giving to him, and,
thereby, the Father. In other words, our
religious duty is better performed as simple acts
of love and concern for meeting the needs of
those around us than the commonly practiced
judgemental, self-righteous, moral one-upmanship
as prevelant in Christ's time as our own. The
last shall be first, and the first shall be last,
etc. Moral standards for the believer, ideally,
are a reflection of our desire to please and
serve our Creator, Redeemer and Inspirer -- the
Three in One -- not, as commonly perceived,
spiritual brownie points to get you into heaven.
Or as Christ said, "if you love me, keep my
commandments."

It's not over here in the States, either. I think
there are eight people left on the island. The
rumor, thanks to a snafu on the CBS website, is
that Gervace is the winner. But that could be
planned misdirection.... So keep watching, and
find out with the rest of us.

on second thought you are all "strangers" (not to me,

I'm at the library now, and the copy of Play they just
