Subject: (mobility) BFD San Jose Merc. Review
Well I guess some of us went to BFD. I thought Moby kicked ass and apparently so does this reviewer:
"Moby: Seeing this techno and dance-music fugure play subtle and throbbing rock with a live band had to be the highlight of the day for anyone over 19 [+ me, I'm only 15].
He ran through material from his guitar-based 1996 album "Animal Rights," and did his 1997 reworking of the James Bond theme. But his funniest moment, after chastising the show for it's lack of women on stage, was playing Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child of Mine" as a romantic ballad.
There were hoots and curses up on the lawn, from impatient metal-types, whose sense of humor keaves after 10 beers. [LOL]
In 20 acts, there were only 2 women on stage: Moby's bass player, Greta Brinkman, and Snake River Conspiracy's singer, Tobey. "For a station that considers itself cutting-edge, I don't know how they can do something like this," said 16-year-old Liz Pollock of Hillsborough. Hint: Looking for hardcore female bands next year? Try Nashville Pussy, L7, Drain STH, Veruca Salt, Sleater-Kinney."
By Brad Kava, bkava@sjmercury.com
I found it interesting that Moby was the longest section in his review. This was interesting as well:
"Durst himself is a bit contradictory. Before the show he hung out in the parking lot with fans, encouraging them to not go into the military and supporting left-wing causes. All the time, he was wearing a New York Yankees' cap, a symbol of the biggest corporate monolith in all of sports."
Well yeah, I don't like Fred Durst or Limp Bizkit much. Have a nice night everyone.

I've got this mp3 and it's a lovely little ditty, but it's incomplete and
i'd love to have the whole thing.
The info is "Helpless - Moby w/Erin (unreleased)". Does anyone know the
story behind this track and have the full one? Mine cuts off at about 4
minutes or so.
Thanks!

Shirly not Marilyn. In the June issue of Q, I think we get it a bit late in the states.
"...certain rock stars who believe that it's in their interests to maintain the illusion of grandeur and power. Just as an example: I was at the Grammys a couple of weeks ago, presenting an award with Moby, and we were backstage and everything was cool and normal and down to earth and then suddenly that ludicrous Jennifer Lopez comes swanning around like she's the Queen of Sheba. Well, I'm sorry Jennifer, but Moby has sold as many records as you have. I've sold as many records as you have. Get off your fucking high horse and eat shit with the rest of us. A beautiful face but I want to punch it nevertheless."
I thought that was interesting.
