I was thinking, due to the large amount of "remove"
posts and posts by people with no sense of humor
whatsoever, we should have a disclaimer on this list.
something along the lines of "If you simply want some
information about Moby, go to www.moby.org. If you
want to talk about Moby with some other Moby fans,
join Mobility. Beware that sometimes we go off topic a
bit, and some people indulge in their own interests.
But that is becuase we are in fact PEOPLE and we have
other interests besides Moby and in this world full of
commercialized bullshit its nice to be able to talk
with people who go a bit against the grain. Also, if
you have no sense of humor, DON'T JOIN."

Okay, that may be going a bit overboard. But it would
make sense to say something, so that people don't
flame this list all the time becuase "hey wait a
second! this is a newsgroup, or a message board! i was
looking for tour dates!" also, it would be necesary to
say something like "if you dont want to get bombarded
with lots of mail, JOIN THE DIGEST MODE." it may seem
obvious, but i and many others had to learn it the
hard way. there are newbies joining lists like these
every day and being totally clueless as to what is
going on.

and also, sorry for sending lots of junk to you nice
people. but, it was entertaining junk to some people,
and i am NOT AT ALL SORRY for my sense of humor. I am
sorry for Tom Green's sense of humor, but that is a
different story and i will leave that rant untapped on
this list.

okay, now some chart news!

this week, PLAY jumped up to #48, breaking another
barrier: THE TOP 50!!!! Yay!!! however, NB drops from
11 to 13 on the dance charts. oh well, the remixes
arent top anyway. i dont see the point of a dance
version of a blues/gospel song anyway. at least a
"now" definition of "dance" version. because, of
course, as RL Burnside says, blues is the original
dance music. Adam and Eve were dancing to the blues.
at least thats what he said. its not true, i dont
think. but you get the idea.

right, im going on too long here. its almost 9 and i
still have a bit of homework. i think this is what "DJ
Boobs" from the Stereolab list is complaining about,
my  habit of loooooooooooooooooooong posts that go
nowhere. right. DJ Boobs, that ranks up there with
Quackenbush, eh?

Nah, I think they have milk or whey in them.  I was a vegan for about 5 months, but I gave it up.  It's rather hard living with parents who eat meat and everything else and get pissed off when I don't eat what they cook for me.  So I eat milk products now and that's much easier on everyone.  Just in case anyone cares...

some vegi co-op type supermarkets have vegan ones i think.

on another note, v2 and mute have kinda jerked me around about promos and
stuff. saying one thing then doing another, not coming thru on promises,
etc. i'm fed up to the point of speeking out against them on mobymusic.com.
has anyone else had a problem with them, or is it just the fact that
everything has to suck for me by some law of nature?

What does anyone know about an outfit called Apoptygma Berzerk? Do they tour
in the U.S.? Anyone have any opinions about their music? From what I heard,
it's somewhat like Moby, when Moby himself sings, but in more of a sad,
European, doing-coke-in-a-disco-bathroom sort of way.

Hello everyone again, from Ali in England,

My last Mobility was entitled 'Homelands'. This is our first festival of the
year and this weekend is already hotting-up. 'RAY! Moby is playing
Homelands! We have passes to the Bud' tent! Not sure about 'Access all
areas' though! If I do (I am going with the brother (and son) of the
organisers) I shall probably faint! As most of the 'Mobility' crew seem to
be 'nocturnal' (well to us in the UK anyway) I shall be safely away from my
computer for the weekend. Its 8.30am here and Homelands starts at 1pm
tomorrow, a mere 29hs away!

Thank you Sara for giving 'Animal crackers-man' some form of positive
response! Rather than expressing your opinion about the bloke that wrote
it!, or somewhat more ridiculously expressing your opinion about the people
that express an opinion about it!

No one here cares how long anyone has been a Mobility member, sorry but
there's no way us new-uns can possibly tell how long you guys have been
around. Progress as an ever increasing collective (I mean mentally) is the
'way forward' to coin a phrase; whether it's tree-frogs or animal
crackers -bring 'em on! You have no idea how many peole I (or you) are
reaching by writing these words.

I love you all, I'll review Homelands for you on monday, (if somebody
reminds me) Moby is playing New Zealand on 20th July I believe, I'll be
heading that way soon! Anyone else going?

me. Well, here we go:

My name is Daniδlle, I'm 16 years old, I live in Holland.
Yesterday I bought my first Moby album, Play. As I really like it, I would
really like to know more about Moby and his music. That's why I subscribed
for this mailing list. I think Moby's purity is really special, especially
nowadays!

These are the bands I like most: the Doors, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Kula
Shaker, Fun Lovin'Criminals, No Doubt...
I like rock and blues most, but jazz, some dance and hiphop music as well.

I think this is my introduction to myself, hope to get lots of interesting

What a coincidence.... I JUST received AB's cd's
from their American distributor a few weeks ago.
I LOVE them. They used to be goth/industrial from
what I understand, however, now the band sports a
very sleek Eurotrance,
drive-fast-in-your-car-at-night sound. I like
your "doing-coke-in-a-disco-bathroom" description
of the vocals. I thought he just sounded a little
like Neil Tenant trying to sing metal. Which I
guess is sort of the same thing. Like Moby, AB is
primarily a one mand band who has a
well-publicised belief in Christ. for tour dates

V2 sent me several promos around May of 99, when I did that trivia contest.
I had no trouble, even when the Play product manager (my contact) quit
midway through the contest. Everybody still got their prizes.

Mute is slow, but they get the order to you. One problem I did have was that
they sent me a James Bond Theme 2x12" instead of a Honey 2x12", but I was
glad of that because by the time my order finally arrived, I'd already
ordered and received Honey from some shop in Florida.
