Thanks dear! Those were lovely -- how nice it must be to walk by that
everyday and how strange it would be to see yourself up as a giant
billboard on a building!
All this moby'ness -- he invaded my dreams last night. I think it was
from watching him on Letterman perform my favourite favourite tune right
before nodding off. In my dream he was growing back his hair (cuz he
didn't have time to shave or something; he could have just been lazy. :))
and it was really soft and curly and when i woke up the next day i
realized his hair in my dream was just like how my niece's hair is (she's
13 months old). So i thought that was funny how those things blended
together in my head. :P

Moby is becoming such an icon. In the newest issue of paper they mention him
as the starter of the bald head dj revolution, or something like that. The
story was on cover-boy DJ's, and the classified Moby in the ugly-beautiful
category... not conventially nice, but it wasn't intended as mean. I dunno,
but it's always cool to see him represented as kind of an icon.

I agree 100%. Also, why fill up space with the album version of the song on
an
EP? I also believe 1 edited version is enough, radio stations only use the
radio
promo's anyway... But on the other hand a single still has to be
profitable,
Honey/Run On and Bodyrock probably could hold so many remixes because they
had good chances of selling well, Honey/Run On being the first US release
after
BBMH and Bodyrock being the most commercial-sounding song on Play. Also
I have this idea V2 spent most of its "Moby budget" on giving out Bodyrock
promo's
(It would explain the absence of a WDMHFSB? single and the few trax on NB)
V2 handed out 2 different promo vinyls and I have 3 V2 Bodyrock promo CDs
(there are probably more) V2 probably also put a reasonable ammount of money
in promoting Bodyrock. For that money they could also have bought the
rights
of the Olmec Heads and Katcha Remixes of NB and put it on the US EP....
just a thought...

Yesss, digipak EPs, like Elektra did!

For any newbies that don't know, it's an FTP site, address: 129.93.212.27
login anonymously with your email address as the password(not really
necessary though).
Anyway, I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the site, it has
over 1.6 gigs of material as I write this(though uploading has slowed due to
pretty thorough people :) ). Anyway, though it won't be gone for a while,
it's time to start looking for someone to help me move everything somewhere
else. See, I live in a college dorm, and for the summer I will be moving
out and going back home. Next semester I will be studying abroad in Japan,
so no fast internet connection, no FTP hosting. None of this will take
place until the first week in May though, so please keep d/ling! I would be
happy if someone with a fast ethernet connection or a hell of a lot of
server space somewhere would help me out here, I would even be willing to(if
d/ling everything were to difficult) to burn all the files on several CDs
and send them to someone, ONLY if they were actually serious about putting
this stuff up somewhere. PLease let me know soon so we can work something
out.
Again, hope everyone is enjoying it and I hope that they can continue to
enjoy it.

oi there mobilites,
since no one else has stepped in with an encoding of porcelain from
letterman, i put it up in realvideo on mobilicious for those of you on
fast connections.
mobilicious is found at: http://www.mobymusic.com/
fer those of you on slow connections, i feel your pain. maybe i'll stick
it on the mobility ftp at some point fer download. i'm still waiting for
my last contribution (the 11-track natural blues promo) to get bounced
over there tho.
also, i was contacted by entertainment weekly, and there's a chance
they'll be doing a writeup on mobilicious, which would be pretty spiffy.
we moved servers yesterday, and i finally got all the bugs hammered out of
it (i think). what's there? live music, unreleased music, porcelain on
letterman, video remix of hymn, lyrics, guitar tab, chat room, etc.
so everyone check it out, and maybe we can start to populate the chat, and
get the guestbook signed, and all that fun stuff.
again, that's http://www.mobymusic.com/
hopefully it will grow even bigger and better in the months to come.
cheers,
-mark

okay folks, i have a Moby-related cd i wanna get rid
of but first you'll have to sit thru an amusing tale
becuase you all love me so much ;) and cuz i have
homework to do and im trying to get out of it.
ok, so i went to Exile On Main Street with a bunch of
old spring-cleaned cds in search to get a discount so
i can buy that damn Mr. Oizo cd i've been blabbering
about since that commercial started airing in America,
and they took some old Ramones and 311 cds i had, so
theres an 8$ discount there, but they didnt take a few
others, but anyway i looked for Oizo but it wasnt
there. i asked them and they said it was on re-order.
imagine that, someone else in Hamden has heard of this
guy, wow. i guess other people actually watch AMP
around here. so anyway i was kinda mad about that but
they said they'd get it Friday so i'm going back then.
Then i went to the Goodwill Store and i found a tape
copy of B-Tribe "Fiesta Fatal!" for a buck! yay! so i
got that and i hope it works. cuz sometimes ive gotten
tapes there and they were just wack. like Led Zeppelin
"Physical Grafiti" didnt work. too bad. That's
Precious Roy's favorite album you know.
anyway, the cds im stuck with are the first AMP cd
(thats ok ill just give it to my cousin next time i
see him), Death In Vegas "Dirt" remixes (anyone wants
that, can have it) and the thing you've all been
waiting for,,,,,,,,,,,,,, David Bowie "Dead Man
Walking" remixes, with not one but TWO Moby mixes!!!
so if anyone wants this (or DIV) you can email me and
i'm not setting a price but highest offer get either
of them. or 5 bucks if you cant think of a high enough
price to pay ;) nevermind that was bad. but if you
want either of these 5$ each folks.
i got another funny story! see my friend Dom gave me
lunch $ yestrday so i repaid him today, i gave him
$1.85 in change, 75 cents of it in pennies! he counted
it all out before he went to get lunch, but they still
made him count it out!!!! crazy. anyway, i'm doing
this muzik poll over at Sockheads and nobody else
except me has mentioned Moby. ah screw them, theres
this one girl thats like "the Bloodhound Gang and Limp
Bizkit are sooooo much better than the Cure! the Cure
suck!" and im like fuck off. how can anyone not like
"Just Like Heaven". at least there are many cool
people on the list who like bands like Mogwai and
Sonic youth and Blur and stuff. and lots of TMBG fans.
and everyone on the list likes S&O so thats very cool.
anyway, bye now!

first off, i think that Bowie cd might be sold now,
someone asked me about it. if it falls thru ill let u
know.
second, at rocknews.com Profile they have quotes from
a moby interview. heres what he said:
about Play:
"I don't necesarily see Play as being my most
accomplished body of work, but judging by the
conversations I've had with other people, I think it's
possible that [it] IS my most accomplished body of
work... I've had enough people tell me this, so I'm
more than happy to agree with them."
about Grammies:
"I had honestly kind of resigned myself to the fact
that I was always going to be sort of a really
marginal musician in America [laughs], and getting
mainstream recognition in the form of a Grammy
nomination is not something I ever expected."
"My manager sort of knows not to call me before 2 in
the afternoon, but [he] found about the Grammy
nomination, and he got so excited I think he called
[me] about eight or nine times between noon and
12:30."
about traveling n touring:
"The last 12 months has been a lot of strange travel.
I've been to Australia three times, Japan three times,
and gosh, I think I've been to Germany about 12 times
in the last year. And sometimes the briefest trip was
flying from New York to Germany, then Germany back to
New York -- and I was in Germany for about 14 hours."
"The travelling aspect of touring -- I wouldn't call
it exciting, but it's really nice. Like these long
flights give me a chance to read books and I can sleep
and I can play with my new iBook computer, when it's
not crashing." [in fact, he might have even read or
emailed Mobility on that!!!!! ;]
theres more including about miami beach and Beasties
but i gotta go now. ill maybe tell more later. bye!
