I do believe that is the person that Moby interviews for the march (?) issue
of Intertview magazine. It is a very interesting article because i guess
they've been friends for a long time, both with a predisposition to try to
make their lives miserable (something to that effect) There's some
interesting tidbits that I won't spoil though.

Moby Partakes In DJ Battle With Aliens
Feb 25, 2000, 12:25 pm PT
Moby on the set
Moby is the latest artist to get in on the Sci-Fi Channel fun. Starting March
17, the techno/rock guru will appear on the channel's "I am Sci-Fi"
promotional spots in a scene emulating a the pivotal scene in Close
Encounters of the Third Kind where the control tower makes contact with the
extra-terrestrials.
For those who don't remember, in the scene at Devil's Tower, the scientists
play the famed five-note song to communicate with the aliens, who respond
with the same melody. For Moby's spot, though, they replace this with an
old-school DJ battle in which the "alien ship reacts like a giant turntable,
scratching out an elaborate answering cry," as the network's spokespeople put
it. As with each of the other spots in the campaign, it ends with Moby
saying, "I am Sci-Fi."
Other artists who have participated include Busta Rhymes and Everclear, as
well as video vixen Lara Croft, Virgin's Richard Branson, and others.
(note to all the allstar readers ~ they finally have a new picture of moby!)

I'm referring to the original tracks Moby used on Play, by Vera Hall,

Half a century passed since then, but these tracks still rock!

Not many, but a few people, like this one have had troubles with the FTP
site. Though I don't know specifically what problems each of you are
having, I would suggest that you try different FTP programs. Sometimes
older FTP programs and ones that don't run on windows have a hard time
reading windows file names (ie more than 8 characters long). I use IE 5.0
and there have been no problems (just type as the address
ftp://129.93.212.27). CuteFTP also has no problems in my experience. Just
try different things--remember always refresh if there is a problem. Other
than that I don't know what to say, so keep trying.

As I've told you guys many times :)
I have a Mpeg of it on the FTP site. Sometimes I don't remember that there
are other users on the internet besides people on Cablemodem's and T-1's so
I forgot to encode it in realplayer for those people with Dialup.
I will encode it to realplayer and upload it if there is interest, But a
highquality mpeg is up there. Its around 90 megs or so.
Thanks

Hi
I've just joined this list and thought better introduce myself.
My name is Chris Jones, I'm 17, and from Newcastle in the UK.
I've just recently become a fan of Moby, and am seeing him tomorrow at
Newcastle University.
I'm also a fan of the Lightning Seeds, and the Pet Shop Boys (who I believe
Moby did some remixes for?).
Well, that's about it.
Hope I didn't bore you too much....!
Thanks

anywhere near miami, but it sounds cool. (i'm not _that_ much of a magazine

Hi there -
Just subscribed, and thought I'd say hello. I saw Moby for the first time
last night in Glasgow Barrowlands, and he was in amazing form. I have had my
doubts while listening to 'Everything' - some of the tracks just sounded too
fast for me (cf 'happy house') but "Feel So Real" had to be one of the
highlights of the show!
The only track I'd never heard was a fast beat one with the lyric 'I feel
it/I feel it back' (I think). Can anyone privately mail me and put me in the
right direction for this as I loved it.
Anyway, so this mail isn't entirely pointless, I'm a big fan of Recoil, who
some of you may have heard of, probably the Bloodline album which Moby
appears on in an altered form (his vocal was shifted down a semi-tone!) and
I'm wondering if anyone else thinks that that album played a part in the
sound of Play. You may also be interested to know that Alan Wilder (=Recoil)
returns to a blues based track called Jezebel on his new album out next week
which sounds not a little like Moby's version of Run On.
I'm also wondering if anyone can tell me of a good website with a Moby Bio
and, perhaps, more in depth reviews section than Moby.org (which is good in
parts). Oh, and some lyrics would be nice!
Thanks. And if I'm going over old ground, sorry, but it would be nice if
someone could still mail me privately rather than the list then. Is there a
FAQs?

Fan: First heard of Moby about 8-9 years ago in The Sunday Times (London). I
have a friend who has been a big fan for about 6-7 years, but only been a
fan myself for about 8 months. Completely convinced of even the 'happy
house' style by seeing his amazing show in Glasgow Barrowlands last night!
Other Artists: Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode (anyone have Moby's version of I

Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Cocteau Twins, David Byrne, Barry Adamson, BT, Gus
Gus, Recoil, amongst others
Other interesting: Well you can try and find it out for yourself! ;o)
