Has anyone else noticed that the mastering of the track "Old" on ANIMAL
RIGHTS (US) is horribly over-modulated at about 50 seconds in. Comparing the
mastering of "Old" on the LITTLE IDIOT version and that version is not only
longer, it's not distorted.

oi there mobilites,
this has been bugging me, so i figgured i'd get some other oppinions, and
this might just get me flamed, but... is it just me, or is the atb mix of
"why does my heart feel so bad?" crap? it sounds to me like they were
doing some other song and selected the wrong set of samples. it's offkey,
clashing vibe from the origional song, etc. especially irks me being track
one on the single when the other mixes are so much better (in my
oppinion). i feel they should of just put the sharp roadster club edit on
instead or something. that one seems to portray the confusion of it, the
ferry corsten mix seems to portray the anguish in it, and the subsonic
legacy remix strikes me as showing the sorrow well.
okay, i'll stop now before i go into full rant mode. just wanted to know
if it was just me or what.
keep moving,

I downloaded it from Napster. There's tons of people who have it, but no one
had the Herman Melville version, so that's what brought my question. I also
downloaded Moby's killer remix of Bowie's Dead Man Walking.

hey folks, ever wanted to join the Wu-Tang Clan but
you can't figure out what to call yrself???? well
theres a website called WuName that will tell you!!!
http://www.recordstore.com/cgi-bin/wuname/wuname.pl
here's what MOBY might call himself if he wanted to
join the Wu-Tang Clan!!!
of course, you need two names to join. if you just
type in "Moby" on first name and nothing on second it
says "Moby: I Need TWO names fool! Please go back to
the form and fill in BOTH FIELDS, or NO WU-NAME FOR
YOU! EVER!"
so if he joined as Richaed Hall, he would be:
Bilious Bad Janitah
and as Moby Hall:
Homicidal Terrahawk
some of my nicknames:
Paul Simpson: Half-Cut Skeleton
Phizzo Jobson: The Eurythmic King Of Nowhere
Hotel Detective Phizzo Jobson: same (hmmm...)
Spizzerinctum Frog (actually its Spizzerinctum J. Frog
but who cares): Sheepish Lord Of Chaos
wow! i'm halfway there already!
ok ROCK! bye!

I am ,personally, so sick of people bringing up the term "sell out" in
relation to musical artists I could puke. A cult artist has his first big
selling release SELL OUT! It's boring, predictable and OLD to even bring up
the term.
The term Sell out should be stricken from the English language. It's so
predictable when people use it. I think we need to come up with a new term
for people who use the phrase.
The minute an artist who has previously had a small loyal following
achieves a higher level of success somebody always brings up the term SELL
OUT. This isn't anywhere near the first time we've seen it crop up on this
list so I'm not pointing the finger at you Renny, I'm just tired of this
boring, useless accusation.
I guess Moby should just only release 20,000 copies of every CD and never
have his picture taken. That way he never sells a lot of records and "keeps
it real".

Subject: (mobility) Yesterday was Moby Day
(If you're not interested by Moby concert or him becoming popular in France,
this is not for you)
Hi all
Moby is becoming a quite known guy down here in France as he got yesterday on
a famous TV show to perform live Natural Blues. Fist time that i see the
audience wanting another song on this show. The guy presenting the show said
that it was very nice music and offered a Play cd to the man invited (who
happened to be Matt Damon and who seemed very pleased with it.)
Then there was his Paris concert. Sold out since last week, we were 2,500 in
the place, young, less young and much less young (the thing is Moby is more
played on "old people" radios than young ones here) and i just have to accept
that Moby's music "makes me feel so good". What a show ! He's a real
entertainer. Furthermore, this concert seemed to be more "live" than he other
one, that is more things doing live and not the impression that they play the
Cd and they just add vocals and guitar riffs. They looked like a group (well
as much as a group as Jamiroquai are that is an omnipresent leader and people
behind, but it still called a group).
DJ Spinbad Rules ! I like the hiphop things that he adds to the music, it
fits very well.
2 hours show, with a very funny Moby and an audience that was very
unthusiastic (much more than for the first part, Hardknox, despite its 2
topless dancers showing their -nice- naked breasts to a shocked audience.
The concert was filmed so i'll tell you if there's an opportunity to get it.
As i'm a lucky guy, i got a nice flyposter and will maybe get an interview
with Da man for my website.
All for now

Does it really matter if Moby is "selling out"? Does it matter how much
money he is making? Is his lifestyle so important to us? Does it matter
how much hype he is now receiving?
No.
The only thing we need to focus on is the music Moby makes. I am a fan
because of the music. I do love the new album and the old ones. We can't
expect him to live up to every expectation we may have for him. It is his
life. He lives by his standards(which actually seem very high). We are
lucky enough to be able to hear his music, see him in concert, and many of
us have met him. He is getting more "new" fans. I think this is a good
thing. This means there are more people experiencing the music we love. We
were all once "new" fans.

Whilst avoiding passing judgment on Mobes for doing .. whatever <shrug>.. I do
find it hard to believe that he's strapped for cash, considering the number of
hats he's worn in his career, namely that of producer.. especially with some of
the names he's worked with.
How's that for a run-on sentence?
