Once again, it's your CD-Rom drivers, not whether
you have quicktime or that the CD has problems.

hey buds. i was listening to the Electro Circus last
night (i'll explain at the end of the email) and i
heard not 1ne but 2wo new remixes of Moby tunes, 1ne
of which i dont ever remember hearing about here. i'll
do that 1ne first
it was "Bodyrock" remixed by Hybrid!!!!! actually,
maybe i do remember hearing about it..... anyway, it
basically has that trance 'n' breaks thing that Hybrid
does so well, with the "we rock the body" chant sped
up and twisted out on top, and some guitar samples.
interesting, but not wonderful. 6/10
and prior to that i heard the Oakenfold remix of
"Natural Blues"! unfortunately, this one is a bit
lame. its an average trance tune, with a tiny bit o
the drum sounds, and the NB vocals cut up so they
would fit on a 4our-to-the-floor beat. why? this isnt
a dance tune! its a downtempo tune! ick. i think if
someone were to do a trance remix of NB, they would
expand on the chord progression/string type part that
hapens after the "brother was dead" line.... that
whipped up into a nice trancey tune (perhaps by
Sasha)would rock. whatever, i'm not too big on trance
anyway. oh well. 3/10
ok, also in response to that "best of electronic music
2" thing, thats weird, its like theres a billion
totally nameless bands on there, then theres Moby,
Faithless, UW, Yazoo, and Flat Eric! what the hell!?!?
how much does it cost? where can i find it? ;)
also, late breaking news. CHARLES SCHULZ HAS DIED.
wow, what a coincidence... sorry. much respect, and
very much goodbye... sorry i cant think of anything
touching to say. oh well. RIP charlie brown! good
grief! 9come on you knew i had to say that ;)

Well it's not only a driver problem, certain hardware like my
4-speed CDrom player simply CAN'T read it because it
doesn't support multiread or something... but who still has
a 4-speed device these days? I think with newer hardware
this probably is just a driver problem. I solved the problem
for my player by having a friend copy only the data part on
a CDR.
Also, if you CAN read the data part, make sure you install the
old QuickTime version from the CD, the CD won't play right
on new QuickTime versions! Also, QuickTime may be a
great program for a Mac, but on a Micro$oft machine, it really
f╡cks up your registry even after you "uninstalled" it. Not that
your system will crash or anything, but it leaves a whole bunch
of useless registry entries after the so called "uninstall" process...
Just thought I'd share this,

yep.
it was actually played 3 times, but i think 1 full time.
its nice to hear his music being played alot lately, but man, maybe its time
some of these movie directors try and get moby to make some new music for
the particular scene they want his music in :)
My Weakness, is one of my fav moby tracks, right under God Moving, but
honestly I dont know if the song was written with people playing football
(any given sunday), or spirits running around (x-files) in mind.
but its such an emotional track, i think thats what links them both.
with Moby, wanting to always take his music in a new direction and not stay
in the same labeled category, him working on films would be cool :)
And im talking actual film composing. Not taking music from his older
albums. I know he's done this before, but maybe something where he could
get to use not only his studio gear, but an orchestra.. thats why we have
orchestrators! :)
i guess its just wishful thinking on my part, cuz thats my actual dream, but
still theres a reason Mobys music keeps making it's way to the movies, at
the most crucial or emotional parts especially.
one other thing i noticed, kind of ironic. is that the x-files episode was
about Mulder searching for his sister and how it pretty much haunted his
mind. In a way it was his weakness, if u think of it that way :)
so what better way to get rid of that, by playing Moby's My Weakness!
anyways i've babbled too much (thats what happens when u listen to moby's
music and try and type email!)
**insert shameless self-promotion**
by the way if anyone is interested in a remix i did of My Weakness, take a
visit to my website at:
http://www.tonematrix.com
theres a place on there to click for "special", otherwise if you're lazy
like me, just go to:
http://www.tonematrix.com/special
there are a couple other moby remixes there.
g'night!

Subject: RE: (mobility) stupid question
>The question is - what does it feel like to compose music?
ok this is a couple days old, but who cares!
anyways, i wish the music/math thing worked for me. because i stink with
math! horribly!
well anything past multiplication and division! ;)
I went to a music school for 2 years (New World School Of The Arts in Miami,
Fl)
It was great while I was there. At least right up until admin. started
pissing off teachers and students, and when you don't have many of teachers
and students at your school, who will play your music? So i left.
Now don't get me wrong I hate music theory. I barely passed the first
semester of it, and failed the 3rd semester of it, hence another reason I no
longer formally study music in a school. and other than i couldnt get into
any other music schools in Florida without being classical enough. (although
I got into Miami but they said New World classes werent good enough, so go
figure!)
but while being in New World, I learned some valuable things that I use
everytime i make new music. whether it be for my Tone Matrix stuff, or for
my band, which isnt electronic.
I guess you could say I have my own theory of writing music.
I understand a couple of basic standard music things you get to learn while
in a music school, and because of the "few" things I learned i can sort of
understand why "this" chord sounds good with that chord and so on.
i wish i had a nice metaphor or something to explain it, but i dont! :)
but again alot of the stuff I make is also by accident, at least at first,
but then the school stuff sort of helps me find the rest of the melody or
chord progression.
if you want to start making music, learn 3 chords and then youre on your
way. I, IV, V. get yourself a guitar and your a rock god! learn how to
play a seventh chord, and get a piano and you got some good stuff! yeah sure
im exagerrating but still thats where you have to start.
and now that i've babbled so much before even really answering the question.
the feeling of composing music?
i guess is just plain and simple something I love to do. its fun, it relaxes
me or even sometimes can energize me depending upon the mood, but regardless
of whether or not the time i spend at my keyboards ends up with a new song,
i still feel good about sitting there for hours. and for those of you with
migraines, turn the lights out, switch to a mobylike string sound, and layer
up them chords and an hour later your headache is gone :) works for me.
like some of the others said, if i didn't have music, i'd wilt like a
flower. or just sleep a whole lot more!
making music is important but listening to it plays an important role in my
life too. if not for any of that music (like moby), i'd proly be stuck in
some office job listening to ricky martin 4times a day!
but the best thing about making music, is when after all those hours or
weeks or sometimes months, that you finally get to finish it, and you get to
hear it yourself all done, and then telling everyone "hey listen to my
music" :)
people listening is the coolest thing because you can reach so many people
(especially thru the net) w/o really saying anything to them.. whether or
not they get that same emotion isnt the point, if it hits them with some
emotion or idea or they say "hey cool", then thats great :)
but its also cool, when youre own music is kind of therapy for yourself.
because you know what inspired you to make the music and listening to it
again is almost like a little diary in itself.
ok, whew, i think im done, i really really REALLY went off there :)
anyways i hope this helped, i'm interested in hearing what others have to
say.
and by the way theres no perfect melody out there, theres too many
combinations! ;)
byebye,
Eric

Wow, Eric I really got caught up in the racing excitement of that email.
I'm getting images of people uprooting skyscrapers and hurdling powerlines
to record stuff. Thank you for responding (I hope the others got their
thank yous) It is really appreciated. I could question people all day on
this sort of stuff (don't worry, I won't) :)
Mark emailed me, saying he wished he had a "digital audio output" from his
brain - which I think is the answer to my fascinations as these things are
practically wordless. Wouldn't that be wonderful if we all had some sort
of micro chip that facilitated the transference of sounds and images from
other peoples brains and vise versa; we could down load other people's
creativity in motion. Forget virtual reality, this would be more
psychological reality. Mmmmm I don't now about the copyright issues
though :)
It would be like accessing other people's dreams with a soundtrack. Ya
see, now I'm the one getting carried away with silliness. Moby's sound
transferor could be neatly inserted under that cross tattoo in the back of
his head with minimum scarring. It would help preserve the environment
too......so many endless possibilities........you can tell I spend half my
week in an office. Silly stuff galore.
PS. Ricky Martin is expressly banned in our office. Zero tolerance.

I found a very funny CD today.
It's called "Laura Palmer's Theme" - FKW
The track listing is:
1.Laura Palmer's Theme (master edit)
2.Laura Palmer's Theme (tin man kick in mix)
3.Laura Palmer's Theme (tk go 94 mix)
It's a complete ripoff of Moby's "GO"
The strings are different, as well as the GO sample,
but it's all organized the same way.
Got it for a buck/99.

Originally composed by Angelo Badalamenti for Twin Peaks.
or is this some other electronic beat driven one?
