going to happen monday when everyone boots up. now i
like blink 182 as an entertaining, but it shouldn't
have made top ten, and any of the others. this nin
album wasn't their best. i'd say moby, live, olp, and
godsmack, really were my favorite, and eminem.

it's hard to keep up with you people. right now i am
on 2 mailing list at the time. so the people who
complain about getting too much mail for 1 list...but
i'm keeping my mouth shut. the thing is the other list
is edward norton. and it was strange because when we
were dicussing courtney love on the moby list, the
edward norton list was discussing her too(in case you
didn't know he used to date her). i'm glad we moved
on, because i have had enough of courtney love for the
time being, i'm not much of a fan.
peace.

Only two? I'm on.....seven. At least three are very high traffic, too.
And yes, I have a busy life besides that ;-)
Incidentally, someone else mentioned that Blink 182 was in some kind of
best-of list (for the year?) I've all but given up on those stupid lists.
For one thing, why should we necessarily *care* what someone else thinks are
the best releases for the year? And notice that they are entirely based on
personal opinions.....there's almost never mention of whether the releases
are important, influential, or innovative. Even if they *do*, it all
usually boils down to just what was popular on the big labels and MTV and
radio rotation in the past year. Like *that's* a good indication of what's
worthwhile.... :P
If I were to form my own top list, it would definitely include 'Play', along
with Nine Inch Nails' 'The Fragile', and a few other less well-known (but,
IMO, equally important and equally as wonderful) releases such as
Stavesacre's 'Speakeasy'. I would possibly include Metallica's 'S&M',
simply because of the innovation of including an orchestra as part of a
'rock' band in a live performance. On the other hand, Metallica per se
doesn't write very influential or innovative songs at all....so I could see
why someone wouldn't include them on a list.
I *could* include other releases I liked, such as Coal Chamber's 'Chamber
Music', or Chemical Brothers' 'Surrender', but I wouldn't--again, they're
just not innovative or influential enough. I love them, but I'd restrict my
list to releases that change the music scene.....or that are daring enough
to be innovative. The new NIN was a pretty risky move--it could have
totally flopped, because it's not an album that's immediately catchy. Even
the singles are not completely what you'd expect a hit single to be.
I wish the lists weren't so much about personal tastes and what 'sounds
cool' (i.e. what sells in the industry)...I wish they'd take a more
objective, music-oriented stance. Ah well...

Hello all!
I hope all of you had a wonderful x-mas and a kick ass new year's! I just
got back from my vacation and guess who I see on the plane back home to NY.
I saw Greta and (forgive me but I forgot his name) the guy that plays the
bongos. They were together and I was hoping that Moby would be with them but
he wasn't. I wasn't able to go up to them and say anything because I was in
a hurry to get out of the airport myself. And at the baggage claim, I also
saw 2 crew members I guess you can say i figure since they were at last
concert I attended. Well just wanted to share with you all! Great way to
start the new year!

My favorite by him to date is Nearly God. The
"guest stars" are amazing. My only regret is
that he does more stuff with Martina, but then
again, I can listen to anything he puts out. The
voice kind of entrances me. :)

Um, how is a rock band & an orchestra in live performance innovative? I do
believe Aerosmith did that years ago with Dream On for MTV thing... It's
really beautiful... But I'm a closest Aerosmith fan (old Aerosmith I guess..
I don't like some of the newer stuff).

I guess the essays in Play are good in the fact that they aren't designed
to fully educate or make empassioned pleas on chosen issues. Even though
they seem quite cold, I guess they are for people who may not have thought
about these issues before and may highlight some points that they may wish
to investigate further for themselves. For example, if you don't
understand the dairy industry myth then that may be a starting point to
research the practices and implications for yourself if that's where your
sympathies lie.

The latter is clearly a reference to praying before God.

That's old news. The new news, as discussed on this very list a few
months back and confirmed in more than one magazine interview I've
read, is that Moby found himself in bed with at least one grrrl and
one boy, one thing led to another, and now he has had ess-ee-eks with
a few other lads and is more and more bisexualist in nature. No one
was more surprised than he, but he seems to be into it.

The ironic part about both these comments is that the same guy conducted
the orchestras for both Aerosmith and Metallica. His name is Michael
Kamen and he does a lot of music scoring and orchestrations for both
movies and rock groups. That version of "Dream On" can be found on the
soundtrack for the movie "Last Action Hero."

Well, as you are, I too sit back and read the postings, yet never contribute.
Much for the reason that I have little to contribute on the issue of Moby.
I have never seen him, yet I am intrigued by the determination he holds and
the thoughts that consist of his beliefs. I believe that with his music, he
expresses pure emotions, straight from the heart, which usually get lost in
the hectic chaos of everyday living. Rarely do you find such a deep artist
that goes below the surface and can create a release from the standardized
way the world was meant to live by. With so many personal restraints and
restrictions, it is nice to see a man who can honestly say he has broken this
boundary and really lived, while the rest of the working class continues to
hurry around to work for nothing. Knowledge like this should not be
neglected, and thats why I'm writing this...I would like to learn as much as
I can about this man and his beliefs, so if anyone has contributions, I would
be more than willing to accept them... until next time.

Because there's something about all those zeroes.
Because not many people know that the monk who
made the Christain calendar forgot a zero year
(this is because the Western World hadn't yet
developed a good sense of the concept of zero
yet). Because technicalities like the one you
are talking about take the fun out of the
evening.
For those who thought the world was going to end
because of Tribulation and what not... if you are
a true Christain.... IT DOESN'T MATTER! You're
on your way out anyway! :) For people like me...
we start to panic.

That's just cruel... No matter who wins, I'll be sad some one else didn't..
