well, this is just what i read in an article a while back, (if it's the
movie i think it is) there's a title song with all the characters singing it
(not made by moby), and it flips to moby who has two dildos strapped to his
head holding a guitar and singing along. i guess it's an independent film,
and will be released at one of those exclusive snobby things like the
sundance festival or something.
disclaimer: i read the article like two months ago, but the dildo thing i'm
almost positive about, who could forget seeing something like that?

Subject: (mobility) Philly Feastival
Just curious--anyone on list make it to the Y-100 Feastival in Philly last
night? (I think there's one of y'all in/around Philly...). Anyway, just
curious to see what other folks thought of the show.
(delete here if you don't much care about the show)
For those of you who didn't know/don't know, the Feastival is this yearly
thing this Philly radio station does (they do a summer one called the
Feztival) to raise food and money for the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank.
Last year they held the show at the Electric Factory, which is kinda small
& standing room only (but I got to see and meet Soul Coughing, which was
exceedingly cool). This year they moved it to this huge building called
the First Union Center--I think mostly because of the size of the show.
The lineup was Stroke 9, Moby, Foo ighters, Oasis, and Beck.
I thought Moby was much fun, though the crowd really seemed to not be into
him, which was sort of a shame (nobody was dancing!). Right before
Bodyrock, he quipped something to the effect of "Well, it's customary to
end one's set at these kinda of festivals with a song eveyone
knows....[here people start hollering]...but, I made this song up around a
Led Zepplin song that goes kinda like this..." & lit into the riff before
playing Bodyrock. Didn't re-introduce the drummer as a Philly boy though.
:) And he played the James Bond theme and Go, so I was grinning.
take care, y'all.

I wasn't there b/c i went away to college in nyc (it figures that the year i
go away, the feastival gets really cool) but i was puzzled by the lineup. it
was a bit diverse. i was also puzzled by the fact that when i was home for
thanksgiving, y-100 played a bunch of the other bands, but only occasionally
played moby--and then it was only "bodyrock." so i could understand the
so-so reaction from the crowd. it seems that he's been doing quite a few of
these schizophrenic radio-station shows.
where were your seats? could you see anything in that huge place? how long
did moby play for?

Well, the two songs that come to mind for me are "When it's cold I'd like to Die"
and "Machete" (? is that it? The one that was used on MTV's Biorhythm with Left
Eye? The needle one? Er, I dont' have play in front of me so I can't quite
remember if that's it.)
No doubts on that one.

Well, booking info is almost always in the cd sleeves. In AR it says the Fax
for his Nth American managment is 212.315.4601. I think there might be booking
info on like the I like to Score web page (is that one Sony guys?) but I'm not
sure what the URL is.
Have you tried looking at different cd sleeves? End of Everything doesn't have
it but Play might (my copy has been confiscated by my bf for the time being.
:-).
But a word to the wise, don't bank on getting his anytime soon if you do find
the booking info. I read somewhere that he'd be touring far through into next
year (which is coming soo! Wow :-). He's goingt to be a nearly impossible man
to book.
Best of luck

If this is true, then MOBY is my kind of man in so many ways. I love
porn and I see nothing wrong with it. It's an issue of personal taste.

i saw it and it was great! (as usual) he only performed for about 30 minutes
and didn't say much because he was probably in a rush to go to his next gig.
isn't he djing in colorado later? anyways, here's the set list (in order):
my weakness, machete, go, porcelian, ah-ah, bbmh, natural blues, bodyrock
he did dedicate ah-ah & bbmh to the people who has ever stayed up until 8AM

By the way I also tried looking for pics of the CK ads and I couldn't find
any. I think they are coming out in the January magazine issues. Anyone?

From: Daniel Cerman <dcerman@verinet.com>
Subject: (mobility) Moby just DJed in Denver
I just got back from Denver, where Moby played a phenomenal 96-minute
DJ set at the Fillmore Auditorium.
KTCL (www.ktcl.com) put on the show, which they called the "X-Mas Rave",
even though it was neither. It was more like just a big club party.
Static Revenger, DJ Rap, and the Basement Jaxx played before Moby, who
had just arrived after doing a concert in Chicago. KTCL said that they
would broadcast the concert on Christmas (Eve?). I think Rave World
(.net?) may also have the show available as some kind of streaming media.
Static Revenger was alright. He spun a lot of mediocre minimal house,
along with his single "Get Down Happy People". DJ Rap played some wicked
jungle that I couldn't help but dance and get all sweaty to. She is cute
and has a good stage presence. A lot of people went nuts over the
Basement Jaxx, but I wasn't too thrilled with their performance. They
were the only ones that actually performed music live, rather than
playing records. I was surprised to see their singers (the "red alert,
red alert, it's a catastrophe" woman and the guy that does the male
vocals on the album). One of the Basement Jaxx guys actually played a
guitar... and all this time I thought it was sampled. But he and the
other non-singer guy seemed to largely ignore the audience.
Moby played a lot of good trance and fun ecstatic songs, including Bizarre
Inc's "Playing With Knives (Quadrant Mix)". He threw Olav Basoski's remix
of "Bodyrock" and Ferry Corsten's remix of "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?"
into the mix, but other than a "Next Is The E" sample ("oh, Lord, I wanna
be with you... can't wait to die"), his set consisted of other people's
music. At the end of his set, he stopped the music, paused, and then
played "Thousand". Oh-hhh yeeeaaaahhhh it was great! :)
This was the first time I've ever seen Moby DJ, and he does it very well.
He's an expert, in fact. His beatmatching was so perfect that one couldn't
tell where one song became another. And his choice of music was superb.
A friend that was with me commented that he's just as skillful a DJ as
Fatboy Slim.
Not only that, but Moby smiled through most of his set. He would do some
stuff with the records and then look up and watch the crowd. People were
happily dancing away (some even attempting to crowd-surf), and he appeared
happified by this. He's quite a people-person. :)
Afterward, Moby hung out and shook peoples' hands and signed autographs.
Many people came up to thank him for a great show. I got to talk with him
for about 20 minutes between his greetings with other people, and also met
his tour manager, Dick from London.
It was lots of fun, and I just felt like sharing before its memory fades.
If you haven't seen Moby perform in concert or DJ, you're missing out.
He'll be touring until around September 2000, so try to see him when he's
in your part of the world. :)
