Hi everybody!
Best Moby song: >>> First Cool Hive
Worst Moby song: >>> Bodyrock & Soft
Best B-Side: >>> Party Time (from the Drug Fits The Face 12")
This week I got my greedy little hands on some cool Moby stuff!
Michael Jackson - Beat it (Moby's Sub Mix)
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
One of the greatest and at the same time stranges remixes by
Moby ever! I've never heard anything like it. Moby succeeds in
merging _3_ totally different genres of music into one great remix.
This 6:11 min. mix starts with a long and virtuosly played metal
guitar solo. (Slash couldn't have done it better!) Then, banging
hard techno chords a la 1992 kick in with some short Michael J.
samples. At this point, when I first listened to it, I felt a bit disap-
pointed. Moby's hard techno mixes are cool, but I thought he'd
be a bit more creative with a track like Beat It. And after a few
minutes of listening I was very pleasantly surprised with Moby's
creativity! Ok, we've heard Moby making techno, punkrock,
ambient, breakbeats and almost everything inbetween, right?
Well, at 2:09 the techno beats stop and we hear Moby's bass
guitar playing that Beat It loop (da da da di di, di da da) and
echoy short chords and a very echoy Michael J. ...Hey, this is...
this is... THIS IS DUB!!!!! Yep, original reggea dub including
Beat It bass line and nice riddim! Mad Professor eat your heart
out! Then the techno beats start again and later there is another
(longer!) dub part with full (echoy) MJ vocals. Check my site:
http://www.geocities.com/animal_sight/ for a short soundclip!
Soundgarden - Dusty (Moby Mix)
+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+
Starts very trippy with echoy voice, bassline and a soft breakbeat,
but after 2 mins, the song gets harder, the vocals become more
Soundgarden grunge-like and the guitars get heavier. A nice mix
but not one of the 'essential Moby mixes' as the Beat It mix.
There's also a short soundclip of this mix on my website...
(Not being a grunge/Soundgarden fan at all, I really like the a-side
of this single, the track "Blow up the outside world"!)

Going to the "platenbeurs", I think that's record fair, or record
collectors/sellers convention or something in English this Sunday!
Last time I got a whole bag of cool Moby goodies and I still had to
make a selection, because I didn't have enough money with me!
I had to pass up the EIW interview promo CD and a BBMH 2-track
German radio promo CD because they had sooo much rare Moby
things!
Well, since I'm going there anyway, can I perhaps bring something
for you guys? I must warn you, it isn't cheap (average for CD single:
$7.50, average for 12": $10.00, all depending on rarity of course)
But if you have given up finding an European Moby release, your
best chances are here! Send your little want lists to eijck@iae.nl
and I shall look for you.
Ps. For you US people, please send your e-mail before Saturday
afternoon or I won't be able to read your e-mail before I go (time zones!)

Strange, somebody said AR is depressing. Whe I feel really fucking
depressed I put it on vbecause it blasts every bad emotion out of my
body. yes, I love Moby's other stuff, but I really really f**king love
AR. Just me I suppose. But I do thing SOFT is kind of metal, well, punk
metal. Really amazing cool track
one thing, have you noticed so many rock fans love Honey. I asked for
Face it at an alternative night in a night club, after two minutes the
DJ stopped playing it and went to Honey, it was a wierd experiance, so
many metal fans dancing to Honey, and so many of them altready knew it
and loved it

i read an old article (or perhaps it was a chat transcript) in which moby
gave a pretty smart explanation for changing the lyrics. he's certainly not
a fan if censorship, but he said that if he ever heard on the news that some
kid ever went into school singing TWIRFMR and shooting people, he'd just be
sick. So he chose what was definitely the lesser of two evils. And it's not
such a bad decision. I think everyone here realizes that the song does *not*
advocate violence or guns, but i can understand that a lot of people wouldn't
see it that way, and moby would run the risk of becoming another one of those
artists that get blamed for the ills of society (marilyn manson, kmfdm, etc.)
whether it's fair or not. that's just the sad truth of things.

Without a doubt the worst song is Reject on the Voodoo Child CD. It is 18
minutes of the same 5 chords over and over again. It litterally does not
change once throughout the entire song. Hence the title "Reject"

is anyone going to the gig in FL at the cameo on new yr's? i was gonna go
but my friend is 19 and i just found out that it's a 21+ show. im so pissed
that my new yr's plans are messed up now! even though we'd be paying $150 to
see him it wouldve been so worth it to celebrate the new millenium w/ moby ;
(. anyone know how to sneak in a 19 yr old or if the people at the cameo
would be cool enough to let my bud in?
as far as the moby ck ad, it's already out in them popular women's fashion
magazines. my friend told me she saw the ad but didnt remember which
magazine it was.

Subject: (mobility) Moby Music Video
Hello everybody. First of all i would like to say that i am very interested
in filmography and i take video classes at my school. I have decided to make
a music video to a moby song. But what song? I am asking all of you, which
song should i use?
The theme of the video is Death, and the different prespectives from which it
can be viewed as. Shots that i want to base the video off of are some
beautiful shots of a stone statue of a baby angel in both day and night. I
want to use the shots of the angel in the day for a good perspective on
death, and the shots of the angel at night for the evil or bad perspective of
death.
Please help me people and send me your thoughts of what Moby song I should
use for the video that fits the topic.
Well thanks everyone.

i think a really good song for that would be "when its cold i'd like to die"
which is so underrated, but i think its the most sad and beautiful piece of
music....it seems like it would go well with your theme....night and statues
can definately be connected with the cold...and it seems like with those
bisuals you would want something very slow and mournful...good luck!

Heh when it's cold it seems like it would be a good song..
but like if you put that music against something, I dunno doesn't seem to
flow too well, mainly I think cause there isn't too much happening, pretty
synth line and all but it's just that and vocals...I just think something
instrumental would be better..plenty of songs off animals rights
like
you wanna a sad sounding song...
"Now I let it go", "A season in hell" "Anima" those would be good I think.
maybe I am just stupid or sumthin :P

I sent my only dub of my song to Greg Shipley! Where is he, man? Every three
months he shows up to say he's still working on it, then he's gone again!
I'm all for a new producer! But I'd need Greg to send my master tape to
whoever that new producer is.
Let's get this thing in gear.
