Not all European countries are like that though. Germany for instance does
not have these rules. I know this, because I have a couple of Underworld cds

Sure, you can NOW. But see how that situation changes in a year or two. I've
been a fan of many a band that made a record for a label that either put the
record out of print or, in some cases, went out of business after only 5,000
to 30,000 copies of said album were manufactured. That's enough that for a
while the record is plentiful and readily available, then over time you
notice it less and less in stores, you go to order a copy and you find out
it's out of print by the label and deleted by the distributor and then your
only hope is resale shops, pawn shops and EBay. So if Elektra has run the US
version out or print, buy it NOW if you want it, or pay big bucks for it or
the import down the road, provided V2 or someother company doesn't reissue
it.

I love female vocalist (being female it just come naturally) but I also think
that male vocalist get overlooked because "singing" has female connotations
to a lot of people. Hence the arrival of vocalist instead of singer in the
verbage that is used. And I noticed that a lot of the people being named
were female so we needed to give equal exposure. Oh, and I love Art Alexakis
(Lead for Everclear ~ I think that's how you spell the last name) He did the
coolest song for the Permanent Midnight soundtrack (which also has Honey on
it and BT's GodSpeed).
On the topic what Moby should do next ~ I don't know, but whatever he does,
he needs to get himself his own personal midget because that's the wave of
the future. (Hey, if it works for Kid Rock.......)

I'm sure I sound totally naive, but what's the use of trying to chart a
single if there's such a severe limitation?? I would imagine that more
artists wouldn't be bothering with trying to chart. I assume that these
charts do not mean sales......
Or are we talking singles, as in what you may release to radio? As in, you
can't have your songs on the radio if you don't chart?

With the Orb's Blue Room, it was released in '92 before the UK chart
system was changed again (I think around 96 or so) and was only a couple
of seconds away from being a ep. Also i can't believe no one has
listed Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance for etheral voice, god her and
Liz Fraiser because reinvented the idea of useing the voice for texture.
As for this haveing something to do with Moby here it is. One someone
was asking about the Run On German 12", hunt this down this is a great
set of mixes. Also does anyone know if Subsonic Legacy is Renegade
Soundwave, I vaguely remeber them doing a mix for Depeche Mode's last
single? If you don't know, Renegade Soundwave was this amazing band off
of Mute records the made great techno dub that basically set some of the
ideas in place for Coldcut and Meat Beat Manifesto to grow. Compressed
drums and thick as hell dub lines, Chemical Brothers and Leftfield have
greatly samled them (Leftfields album Leftism, half the album is lifted
from Renegade Soundwaves In Dub album). Ok rambling like a crazed
trainspotter now bye Keith

Whoah. Ok, here is the deal, as life has really been sucking:
I have been OUT OF TOWN for friggin forever. Got back last week. Now, I
have everything but the tape submissions moved onto the computer. I have
to d/l one more Remix (from Eric, I believe - it's on my to-do list) get
these things off of #$@#%$@#$ tape, and then we can finish this bad boy

I will be in London for one week (next week) and when I get back we will
finish this thing once and for all.
I apologize, we are close, and we will finish REAL SOON.
Now - question for the list (help ME out here!) - what is the preferred
way of getting this stuff off analog audio tape? Just plug it into my

I don't know about remixed End of Everything but man, it's a great cd and I think

Very high on my list. Uh, I'd also have to say MOBY, I'm biased but on
a new dawn fades. Really, that's all I have to say about that.
There's this song on a cd called "Women of the world Celtic" and there's
a song called something like "on the road to Jehrico" and I don't know
the woman's name but man, that song makes me cry. :-)
I don't know if Ani DiFranco is haunting but she has a great voice even
though I don't really like her music a whole lot. Julie Cruz....for
sure.
That's all I can think of. But man, MOBY makes me cry. *sob*

You read my mind. I was going to say him but I thought that might not be
welcomed but I'd also have ot say Eddie Vedder, the guy from Live, the guy
from Counting Crows, Trent(!!!), MOBY, Bono, a guy that no one knows named
Frank Summers (he's a Zonie <AZ> but really fab! Very weird lyrics...)the
guy from Tonic has a great voice but I don't care for the band much. God,
there are so many very talented male singers. The late great Fredie Mercury.

I know you'll all hate me for all the posts tonight but Dave is great,
and I love him but Martin Gore. What's that song from Catching up w/
Depeche Mode? The love song w/ the heart beat? Er, I have to
check....brb...Somebody...man that song makes me cry. I must have cried
a river during that song live. Man, and the song Home which is recent
and that other song that remind me of Somebody...Er, brb...ok, I can't
find the cd but the song Blue Dress...man I wish I could find my
Violator. That song makes me shiver. I've had times where I listend to
Blue Dress like for an hour or more. I love that song. It makes me
think of gender dysphoria and the like. It's so emotional. *weep*

*hehe* Yeah, i noticed that too, but i guess veins don't really bother me
that much or don't make me queasy cuz it wasn't that big a deal to me.
Plus i thought it was kind of cool when you could see it pulsing...you
could see how his heart was beating... :) But most of the time i was too
busy looking at his eyes or mouth or hands to notice some little silly
veins. :)
Now if you really wanna see something to stare at while a singer is
belting out a tune look at the jugular vein on their neck. Now that is a
big pulsing vein! :D

Subject: RE: (mobility) Thanks 2 - Audio recording answers
Hi,
Depending what your sound card is you'll get mixed results. Stock sound
cards that come with computers and even the more popular consumer cards like
Sound Blaster or Turtle Beach are not designed for professional audio
recording. The Analog to Digital converters are very noisy. They're
designed for playing games.
If you're serious about recording audio I would reccomend the following two
Audio Card Manufacturers: Event Electronics (Layla, Darla, Gina); Soundscape
(Mixtreme, SSHDR1); they make a variety of cards with different I/O options,
pick the card that has the ins and outs that meet your needs.
For recording software that also depends on what you're looking for:
Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 is the best overall music software it is feature rich,
rock solid and easy to use.
Cubase is also very good, in fact it was the best until Cakewalk got their
act together with 9.0. I find Cubase is a little quirky and not as intuitive
as Cakewalk, but the feature sets are similar.
If you are only interested in Audio editing and recording both Sound Forge
and Wavelab are awesome.
For CD burning if you want to release a professional Audio CD get CD
Architect. If you're only burning disks for yourself and friends EZ CD
Creator is fine,
The best noise reduction software I've used is a group of plug ins from
Sonic Foundry titled appropriately enough: Noise Reduction. They work in all
the programs I've mentioned above. You get Hiss Removal; Click and Pop
Removal and Vinyl Restoration.
Two other things you'll find useful for CD mastering are Compression and
Normalization or Maximizing.
Hope this helps,
