I really need a Moby t shirt. My main shirt rotation for parties is my Orb
shirt, a Bone (comic book) one, and a Bob Dylan one. Yeah, I sound pretty
pitiful. I need a "Friends Don't Let Friends Eat Meat" one like Moby in
FUTURE Music. Anyway, where are the Moby shirts? We need one with Moby like
on moby.org where he's looking heroic.
"MOBY POWER"
Here's what I'm thinking. Play is really commercial sounding, but why is the
record label picking this singles? Bodyrock sounds great, but shouldn't they
have emphasized Moby as not just another Fatboy Slim type DJ but a really
great versatile musician.
WDMHFSB should definitely be a single, but where is it? Wasn't it supposed
to come out this week? Or is it October 26. Hey, the 26th, that's when the
new Deep Forest comes out YESYESYESYES...sorry. Deep Forest is responsible
for my interest in techno... So, okay.
Anyway, I think SOuthside or Porcelain really should be singles. And
definitely Natural Blues or Machete. Run On and Honey are good but shallow.

Sorry.
I hate to admit it, but due to the large number of e-mails I get, I delete
many of them.
Anyway - looking to double check.
Which Roxy is Moby going to be at?
I know I'm two steps behind everyone...
Oh - Letterman. I was hoping Moby would do Bodyrock or one of his older
ones (Next Is the E would have been cool). *Sigh*
I just picked up the latest singles. Cute artwork. Anyway, my disc says it
only has three tracks! I can't get to the video. Did anyone else have this
problem, or is it just mine?
Later.

Hey, somebody here just wrote that Porcelain was "the most beautiful song
ever created"
Now, don't get me wrong, I love Porcelain, though I liked Machete more.
Moby's a very good lyricist. of course, moby's no bob dylan. but bob dylan's
no moby. ???
moby's really honest in his lyrics. but i have to admit the sky is broken
"and then I die" makes me laugh out loud, i dont know why.
Anyway, Porcelain is definitely not the most beautiful song ever created.
that honor belongs to either "Jesu, Jesu," in the classical section, "huge
evergrowing pulsating brain (lovin u)" by orb in techno, and my vote for
"BUILD A FIRE" by the KLF for the most perfect and beautiful pop song ever
created. and I think MY Weakness is the most beautiful song in Play, if not
of 99.

If it only sounds good when you're on some illegal substance, then the
music obviously then sounds bad when you're not. Therefore, it's no

DRQ is a CRAP station as is just about anything in Detroit radio. It is so
formatted, this city's radio stations are all a joke. DRQ plays crap like
La Bouche and Gina G and the stupid kids think this is what techno music is
all about. I would be OFFENDED if they played Moby, he doesn't deserve to
be dragged down to the level of WDRQ.
Now, the ONLY show in Detroit worth listening to for me is Chuck Horn,
Friday night 10-12 on WDET, public radio. I see you mentioned Chuck. 2 hour
electronic music show, how sad we only get two hours a week here in
Detroit. I have Chuck to thank for introducing me to Moby. He has played
the HELL out of the "Play" CD after it's release. I heard "Natural Blues"
and "Porcelein" on there and immediately picked "Play" up and haven't
stopped Play-ing it since :) Chuck has already said on the air it is
quickly one of the best if not THE best releases of the year. I've heard
him play "Honey", "Run On", "Porcelein", "Natural Blues", "If Things Were
Perfect" and "Everloving" off the CD over the weeks. The reason you aren't
hearing it much anymore is because he only gets 2 hours a week and always
works in as many new
releases as possible. He gave "Play" more exposure and airplay than any
other release I've heard in the first month or so after release.A track or
two was being played weekly.
I tape this show every Friday to listen to throughout the week, I guarantee
"Play" will be near the top if not the top on his year end top releases of
the year. We need more Chuck Horn's working in radio. I thank him for
turning me on to Moby, Faithless and electronic music in general.

i think they should just give chuck horn his own radio station. it's sad how
techno was originated here in detroit and we only have a 2 hour a week
program dedicated to it. we have too many alternative stations, it's driving
me nuts. i agree about the DRQ thing. i feel that 'bodyrock' would be in a
very vulnerable position if they played it because it might be misleading for
people to think that his whole album has that whole 'bodyrock' sound to it.
to me, the 'bodyrock' sound is like an outlier in the whole album... it lacks
that emotional feeling that his other tracks have. but at the same time it
maintains a cohension with the album along the lines of unique structural
quality -- which is something DRQ is not worthy of.

You know, getting intoxicated isn't a bad thing. All of life's evils do
not come from using substances which alter you in some way. I find it kind
of funny that there are all these ppl say and think that these things are
so awful. Ok, if you do these things irresposibly, then yes, it's bad for
you, mind body and soul but, if you are a responsible person who knows when
to stop, then no these things are not the root of all evil.
Yes, I do drink. I also drink plenty of H20 before hand, I eat something
before and drink only a few drinks. When I start to feel a bit fuzzy, I
stop my drinking then and there. I know my limits. I know what I can
handle. Ppl who don't know, pple who don't care and ppl who aren't
responsible shouldn't be allowed to have a drink in their hand or a joint
or a clove or an herbal xtc etc. These ppl who get all upity about these
things, don't trust themselves but not every one has those other ppl limits
or attitudes. Prolonged use of these things may not be good for you but if
you are a responsible person, you will take this into consideration and do
the right thing.
It's not just drugs or alchol that has those "rules". Don't pick up those
car keys or those power tools if you don't think that you can trust
yourself or handle yourself w/ a degree of responsibility. You have to be
responsible for yourself, your body and your mind. So, don't drill holes
in your hands.
Also, it's easy to make big mistakes while your fucked up, like having
unprotected sex. That's why I believe that drinking to excess is a bad
idea but that's another responsibility issue.
Nobody take offense. Don't mean to piss anyone off. Just speaking my
peice or peace. :-) S'all good.

here is some news i found, if you're interested.
Gwyneth Paltrow was out on town in New York last week with new boyfriend Guy
Oseary. They attended a concert by Moby, who was one of this year's Spirit
Festival guests, then dropped by a party given by Details editor Mark Golin
where they hung out with Madonna, who means a lot to them both.
Oseary is a music executive who helps runs Madonna's Mad Guy film company.
He's previously been linked to Renee Zellweger and Fran Drescher. And Paltrow
tells Premiere magazine that yoga-partner Madonna is her "karmic counsel."
"She's a really wise person," Paltrow says. "Madonna is so helpful in any
kind of problem: life problem, work problem, boy problem."

hey all,
i saw moby last night in rochester, and he rocked the house. i would say
maybe 20-30% of the people there didn't know the songs he did very well
though. i'm gonna give a little review here:
the doors opened at seven. i don't hate djs, i actually find them to be
alright (as long as there's no ego involved) but standing on a dance floor
surrounded by people we were subjected to eminem's "slim shady" and about 6
beastie boys songs for TWO HOURS as moby took his time getting on stage.
maybe the dj had no choice but to play, but i doubt it. i lost a lot of
respect for local djs and some of my hearing because that guy wouldn't stop
until they turned him off. but enough of this, the show might've had a slow
start (very slow), but it turned out quite different....
when moby came out, his setlist was manic (i've got the setlist right here):
find my baby, mach 2, porcelain, bond theme, go, next is the e, everlovin,
why does my heart feel so bad, perfect, ah-ah, bring (i can't remember the
full name of this one for my life), natural blues, bodyrock, honey, (at this
point he did some requests, including purple rain and run-on), then feeling
so real, and the final song, in case anyone was interested in the name, was
called stop.
i've got some kickass photos that i can put online hopefully within the next
week too.
