Very true

Frightening Moby moment. I was sat in my friends room and he had the TV
o0n. We had a programme about some strange old woman not getting her
morgage sorted out or something, and then, for utterly no reason
whatsoever.......Inside came on, cool.

Subject: (mobility) Coachella - WOW!!!
Okay Chicos and Chiclettes,
WARNING: THIS EMAIL IS LONG!
I now have had enough time to properly digest the most fantastic weekend of
my life (I think) so here it is:
First I'll talk about MOBY and the rest afterwards because many of you may
not care about the rest...anyway...He did play once it was dark, but the
lighting was fantastic, very manic at times (never before have my eyelids
wiggled as a reflex) but always appropriate. He did a very short set, even
cut the length of the songs. He played at the Outdoor Stage (the 2nd and
smaller of the 2 outdoor stages, the other being the main stage) and he drew
the largest crowd that attended that particular stage. Everyone was very
much into it.
During "Bodyrock" though things got surreal. Two girls in sports bras and
panties jumped out and started to dance for just 2 minutes next to the
keyboards and then again disappeared. Also a guy in a sci-fi spacesuit began
to bounce around and ran into Moby on his way out while Moby was trying to
get to the mike. He mentioned that (and I loosely quote) Coachella was the
best outdoor festival he's attended.
He came down twice to visit the audience a little. I know I am spaced on the
set list but he played "My Weakness", "Machete", "Porcelain" ("a sweet sweet
sweet love song"), "WDMHFSB", "Go", "James Bond", "Bodyrock", "Feeling so
Real" (which I couldn't believe how much punch he packed into) and
"Thousand". For almost every other song he'd go to the bongos for a while
and rock the house. He jumped of the keyboards. At the end, much of the
audience stayed for about 10 minutes still cheering and clapping for Moby
who'd already left the stage. That didn't happen for anyone else I saw.
Later he walked to the side where he met fans, though separated by chainlink
fence. I was afraid that, even though I read so many stories of him being so
nice, I'd walk away feeling like a dork. But he's really very sweet and
friendly in person.
His show played Sunday at 9:20pm, about the same time as Gus Gus, Tool and
others (anymore details about schedules, email me privately).
NOTE FOR SO CALI PEOPLE: I asked him about his KROQ deal at the end of this
month (Oct 30 I think). He said it's just a DJ deal. But still I'll wanna
hear :)
Details: the festival started about noon. From about that time till 5pm
you'd be fighting not to dance so hard or else you may faint and vomit from
heat exhaustion and dehydration. If you wanted to have fun, you had to
accept that you'd be soaked in sweat most of the time. Then the place closed
at midnite which totally clashed with the crowd present...oh well...shouldn't
complain, the whole thing was awesome!
Other highlights (Saturday): THE WISEGUYS were the first thing I saw, and
what almost made me faint the first day. But with such good dance beats it
was a great way to start.
SUPER FURRY ANIMALS were very mellow, okay. Not a large crowd.
CORNELIUS was very cool and fun. Great cartoon/sports visuals that clicked
with the sound. The bass lines were unexpected and amazing, changing keys
but still staying with the song - wow.
u-ZIQ was replaced by a hip hop DJ who was actually very cool (unless I am
totally wrong cause I accidentally went to the wrong tent).
"A is for atheism, A is for All about Eve, A is for Tex Avery, A is for ART
OF NOISE". Their sound was excellent, the operatic female singer was
perfect. The whole atmosphere of the thing was very theatric and a little
violent. The narrator (almost like lead singer) walked around in a
futuristic black bodysuit with hammers in hand. The theme or story of the
set was Debussy as visionary genius.
If you saw CHEMICAL BROTHERS on Amp about a month back, then you know what
their set was about. Good stuff, large crowd, nuf sed.
Okay, I don't care what any of you have to do, but if you've never seen
UNDERWORLD, make it a personal goal of yours - seriously!!! They said this
was their last show though for the rest of the year, century,
millennium...but catch them next year is they tour your area. They played
for about an hour and a half. The crowd was packed. I've never danced so
hard. Never had any idea how sexy they'd be up there, with the smooth pelvic
thrusts and hip wiggles. They did seem to have a little trouble at first,
beats would go unchanged for a while, but they more than made up for all
those little petty details...WOW!!!
Ended with DJ RAP who had two rappers with her. Only caught a little but
