why didnt you just grab a dictionary?
anyway....myopia is near-sightedness.  but its more
often used to describe people with no spatial or
theoretical foresight.  if your myopic, either you
need glasses or you can't predict what your life will
be like in 5yrs, et cetera.

i *TOTALLY* disagree here, (while that song is right up there, maybe a close
second) the worst song ever was devo's "bamboo bimbo" on devo live: the
mongoloid years 75-77.  absolutely the worst song ever created, let alone
played live.  the people in the audience actually get up and threaten to
"beat the shit out of you assholes"-quite possibly the most punk rock
recording i own, a great listen.

hey folks

we figured what the WDMH? sample   was (these open
doorS) but what is that sample  in "Porcelain" ???????

i was listenin to my pals Binnie Kline, Rod
Richardson, Scott Shapleigh and Terry Hopper fundraise
at WPKN sat. nite, and they kept talking/jamming over
various tracks, some from the MOBY cd, you shoulda
heard them clapping along to "Honey" it was great but
as soon as i pressed record they stopped!

anyway when "Porcelain" came on Binnie stopped
everything and said "this part is so beautiful" and
then that was on, and they started making funny noises
to it...... Rod kept saying "yeah!" or "hey!" or
sumthin, way out of sync, to whatever they say in
that, and Binnie said "woman....." or sumthin.

i originally thought the guy was saying "fair woman"
or sumthin, but i just have no clue now.
anybody got a clue???????

in other news THE DRUM CIRCLE IS SATURDAY 6-10 PM OR
SO EASTERN and yuo can listen on wpkn.org or 89.5 FM!
I'll be there like 4 sides on a square!

and DAVO finally is back on SUNDAY NIGHTS from
10PM-2AM this time. no more "Moonlight Radio" tho, its
now called "Blip Radio." its awesome!!!!!! check that
out too. plus, radio nothing is an hour longer! yay!

anybody else read BOONDOCKS? crescent! just wondering.

not only is that comic awesome, but the author is a

well i guess it depends on what version youre listening to.
if youre listening to the version from the Playing By Heart soundtrack
then youre listening to his voice through a vocoder.
and if youre listening to the version from the album PLAY, then youre
listening to his voice layered louder over the vocoder.
at least i think thats what it is.

Personally I like the vocoder version better.
On the album one it almost sounds like Moby's voice is maybe a bit too
louder than the music.

hm...  i don't have an mp3 encoder.  i wish i did but this computer i'm
typing on borders ancient.  if you give me your address, i can tape the
whole show (about 6 songs) and send it to you, and then you can mp3 it for
the whole list.  how's that sound?

I thought that before more time goes by I'd officially say "Hello" to =
this list! And tell you a little about myself...

If my memory serves me right, I think it was while mixing for someone =
else that I was first aware of Moby.  (Probably The Other Two "Moving =
On" or the Pet Shop Boys "Miserablism.")  As far as his own solo work, I =
think a friend must have played "Go" for me.  I don't think I really =
took the bait though until "Everything Is Wrong" came out. (I kept =
seeing the bonus "Underwater" double CD for a long time too, and I could =
hit myself that I passed it up!)  I now have about 25 Cds/singles/vinyl =
from Mr. Hall, and I love it all!

I had the extreme pleasure of seeing him in August in my hometown...it =
was freakin' amazing!  When he got to "Porcelain" I thought I'd die!  I =
tried to stay afterwards to meet him (while he walked to and from the =
stage I could have reached out and touched him) but I got kicked out =
with everyone else.  (That is probably I good thing because I'm not sure =
I'd know what to say...)

I try to record every TV item I can, and enjoy scanning music mags for =
interviews, etc.  I was just out-of-town over the end of last week and =
read in N.M.E. (or Melody Maker--can't remember which) Moby's single =
reviews for the week!  They were pretty hilarious--especially the =
Britney Spears comments he makes!  I was slightly disappointed to not =
find anything I didn't already own, but I did find a cheap copy of =
"James Bond Theme" CD single, for $6.99, which I had surrendered to a =
friend when it first came out.  If only it was the Aussie one, though!

I love all types of music, and especially dance/house/garage.  I have a =
multitude of favorite artists, but Moby is definitely up there! =20

That's about all I can think of....I especially like reading the MOBY =
comments here on the list!

A special hello and thanks to Damian for updating his personal =
'recommends' list--he has never steered me wrong musically!

Heat Soundtrack.  I thought that it was just the original mix on the movie
for both songs but they were edited to fit the scene?  I might have to go
and have a look. It's funny how you mentioned hearing Moby first on Heat
cause that was when I first really got into him as well.  That and the
movie Scream, his songs seem to stick with us.  Everytime I hear Moby's New
Dawn Fades, I think of driving real fast down a motorway at night, and
First Cool Hive reallly freaks me out.  But God Moving... well that has an
entire different set of emotions altogether.  It is one of the most
beautiful scenes in any movie I have seen.

Sad News I'm Afraid, not for any of you guys that is, but I'm probably
going to miss the only Moby concert in New Zealand this year and for a
while, as my friends are too poor and exams are in the way.  I almost
cried, in fact I'm fighting back the tears now.  How could life be so cruel.

it's been a long time, a really long time since i last posted anything on
here. anyway this isn't really moby related but it does have to with the
type of music that he does.
me and a friend want to start a techno group but are fairly inexperienced
with that type of music. we were wondering what type of stuff we need to
make some good songs. like what drum machines or synthesizers and stuff
would you suggest? do you know where we can get some good quality stuff for
cheap prices since we really can't afford much at this time.

I've spent weeks contemplating this list.  It's really tough.

In no particular order:

Moby's Everything is Wrong and Play
BT's  ESCM
Beck  Odelay
Foo Fighters  The Colour & the Shape
Collective Soul   Dosage
Scooters Age of Love (for the really really happy days)
Everclear  So much for the Afterglow
And the entire Northern Expidition series by Sasha & Digweed

Odd mix, I know, but at least I kept Zebrahead out of it.  To me to be a
great Album, I don't skip more than 2 songs on it and it adheres, evocotes
emotion, but is not repetitive.  For example, I love the Goo Goo Dolls, but
can't listen to their cd's cuz all the song sound the same after awhile.  But
Moby and BT are by far my favorite artists of all time and they can do very
little wrong in my book.

I'm trying to be hip, obviously not succeeding, but, Foo Fighters, that
album is awesome, and BT ESCM, if you Like Moby You have To Love BT.
Great List,  I like Long Way Down, by Goo Dolls, thats about it.

Have you guys heard of DJ Paul Elstak, Dune, they are on this CD I'm
listening too now, it's called Central Nervous System 3, have you guys
heard of it?  I've got The Brain: Central Nervous System 1, as well but I
heard number 2 is shit, so I haven't bought it, I really suggest you give
these albums a try though.
