I just wanted to let everyone know that the very cool and at this point
very hard to find Underwater bonus disc is on auction at ebay. This is
a really cool ambient piece that is 43 minutes long (think hymn alt.
quite or some of the ambient mixes he did for Brian Eno). Bye Keith

Any of you Boston folk know how far it is from Boston to Portland Maine?
I can't keep missing Moby! Finally, after how ever many years I saw my
first Moby video since I finally bought DISK. Stil havn't seen him live
yet even though been scheduled 3 times (even had the tickets bought
once...) Someday. Or, is NY closer than Portland. I doubt it but it
would probably be a better show right? Anyone? Later.

I live in worcester, an portland is about three hours away, I think it is
about the same from Boston, I am pretty sure that portland is much closer
than Rochester, and I think that it may be a little closer than Ny city
(isn't there a show there?).
If you are in boston than you already missed the bcn (or was the fnx)
show, and the one at the axis, damn man, I got to go to the free one at
the hat shell(sp?), that was great.
Any others from around mass, anyone going to portland show? I am thinking
about it, the day before my b-day and the day after my fall break starts,
that will be nice after hours of exams....

Remember how I said the general attitude of this list is toward this sort of

Anywho... I'm continuing this thread because its a decent one(for those
participating) and I still say FUCK OFF to detractors.

What are you talking about? All algebraic systems are the same, matrix
theory has universal operations and principles that are the same for all of
them? What you are talking about seems to be set theory; which also has
universal, consistent principles, ie (A U B) always equals (A U B) etc. Be
more specific if you have something in mind, but as it is, your mathematics
major isn't telling the truth.
>> Nature speaks the language of mathematics,

We certainly do. We have explored all the planets in our solar system, our
sun and many if not all of the moons. Netwonian Equations hold the same
everywhere, mathematics and physics are the same. The best data that we
have from other systems and galaxies points to the same
conclusion(radiometric analysis).

First off, you never addressed the point, (for example we can calculate pi
using a taylor series and use a taylor error bound to find out how off we
are; we can calculate 4/2=2 and we are 100% certain). Secondly, Chaos
theory is bull shit, both in the physical sense and the mathematical. Let
me explain... 1, in physics quantum mechanics is slowly being eroded in
favor of string theory, because it provides a much mroe mathematical and
consistent model of the universe. 2, Even at its most complex form, chaos
theory only tells us that the predictability of any system is beyond our
comprehension, beyond OUR calculation, just like the Hiesenburg principle,
it only points out our own limitations, not secrets of the universe. A
particle's exact position and exact velocity CAN be calculated, just not
with any of the instruments we currently have. ANY system can be
predictible, just not with any of the instruments we currently have.

There is ALWAYS room for MISTAKE. I will accept the idea that all doubts
can never be silenced(since its consistent with the epistemology i've
endorsed in previous posts and with the ideas above), however, it still
remains that room for interpretations are wrought from human error, not
necessarily the methodology or the idea itself.

Okay
Remember how I was having problems with my mailing program,
where it was either by human error or machine error that i kept
sending forwards meant for michelle to mobility?
well i got that fixed. found out what the problem was.
but i was thinking, since people seem to enjoy these totally
unrelated to moby adventures, maybe there's a demand for *another*
offtopic list, this one for jokes, totally pointless emails with a really
bad punchline, general things that make you laugh your ass off.
so yeah... if i went ahead and started some sort of mailing list on
egroups or something for jokes and stuff to be sent out to, would
anyone who enjoyed the misforwarded emails want to join?
before i set up anything, i want to know if there's a demand for
something like this.
or, anyone who wants to get these forwards could just give me their
email address and i'll add it to my address book for purpose of
forwarding humorous material.
or, maybe this is just another sunday morning ramble from kelly.
who knows? heh...
anyway, if anyone is interested, get in contact with me via

Just real quickly BBC Radio One web site under "CLUB" listed MOBY
on their weekly hit list saying:
"5.MOBY - One of the most underrated albums of the year plus a new
single that will blow your brains out"
And before that Pete Tong listed the new single as
"This Week's Essential New Tune" 24/9/99 in league with recent releases
from the Basement Jaxx, Planet Perfecto feat Grace, and Leftfield.
Hopefully people will open their ears and clue in. Maybe this will be
his most successful single off of PLAY!
And here's the club run thus far:
