Pretty sensible, right-on, random thoughts from a 16 year
old non-conformist.
I'll drink to that.
I think Moby would be proud. (Moby related enough....?)

Oh yeah, me too...I'm hear to talk to Moby fans....not JUST to talk about
Moby....I care much more about a lot of the irrelevancies than I do about
video rotation, chart placement, and other mundanities...let's all give a

You are a conspiracy theorists guy if you believe
this. It's the old argument from suppressed
evidence... denying evidence that exists that
contradicts your conclusion.
> i think the average government needs wars, etc,
> to distract the average citizen's mind to an
> abstract "cause." in a way.
Nope. To think that the government is working
collectively (they can't even work together
without bickering about party side), is just
nonsense. We can't even get the mail right, let
alone develop a long-term plan of subverting
entire populations (which they came from) to the
abstract cause. The time for wars is almost
over. The time for business is upon us. Which
is currently out of our government's hands at
least.
> how do we know what's coming in thru our media?
Whatever you want it to be.
> and obviously, there are agendas being pushed.

> gotten into disgusts me.
I don't think I've fallen into this as well.
Humans are greedy by nature, and want payback for
anything that they do. Therefore, if someone is
promoting a musician, the act of promotion
requires we pay them something for it. I don't
think to participate in entertainment you
absolutely must devote your life to the dollar,
but not much in the world is free anymore.
> and plus, our whole society is geared into a
> violent way of thinking. we celebrate

I hate Columbus. I really do. I also think it's
funny we still have a slave-owner on the
one-dollar bill because he was the "first" white,
male bureaucrat to be in our nation.
> we learn about Napolean and Caesar. they are

I've never, ever been taught to revere Napoleon
OR Caeser (unless you count Planet of the
Apes...). They were murderers only in the sense
that we were stealing the land we have from
Native Americans. Conquest is always justified
in the eyes of the victors. Manifest Dynasty has
always been my biggest problem with American
Culture.

I do find this interesting, but then again, I
find a lot of things interesting.
> while honoring murderers and bigots with
> national holidays, etc, is the norm!
Most people don't even know why we get Columbus
day off. I for one, don't care. It's another
day off for me, which I'd probably spend working
on something else.
> just random thoughts from a 16-year old

Nonconformity is kind of silly nowadays, when a
majority of people are "nonconforming". Stick to
personal morals, don't label yourself as a
nonconformist, you only set yourself up for
criticism and hassle. You don't need either,
trust me.
I have to dig my way out of the other
conversation now...

Still a hasty generalization. I know one hundred
people on this listserv that have computers.
Therefore, everyone everywhere must have
computers. For the size of the universe, one
solar system means nothing. We cannot, based on
our understanding of our solar system, reason
that the whole universe works this way until we
experience it for ourselves.

In certain instances, mathematics is able to put
answers in a bound. Mathematics as a whole
cannot do it. I think pi is a great example of
what I'm getting at. Pi never repeats, it trails
forever. The numbers aren't predictable, and we
can only keep going on in the hopes we do find
something. (BTW, did you see the movie Pi?
Great flick for math dorks like us.) I'm willing
to be Pi never repeats, nor has any pattern...
yet it is a basis for our universe as we know it.

This is nice IF the universe is consistent. I
don't think it is, only based upon what I see
with weather formations. Chaos theory gives us
some (not all by any means) insight into weather
prediction and other complex systems.

They are finding patterns to the mess of chaos
theory. I wouldn't discount it. It almost seems
like a psuedo-mathematics, but they are beginning
to discover patterns. UW-Madison actually has a
professor who gave a little presentation about
it. It was kind of neat to watch some of the
patterns forming.
Also, I don't think some things in the universe
have patterns, nothing we can predict with our
instruments at all. I think it's a big fear of
people to not be able to predict something is
going to happen. That's why random acts are so
shocking to people. Chaos theory does provide
some answers, but some questions do not have
answers. Since some questions don't have
answers, the some things CANNOT be predicted with
ANY instruments, especially physical systems.

I quit keeping score a while back. It's for the
love of the game. Pun very much intended.

I say things are subjective because the only
interpretation of anything I see or know or think
exists around me. I can't take any else's word
for granted about anything because I cannot see
exactly what they are getting at. Therefore, any
interpretation of any idea, whether trying to be
comprehended by myself. The idea that is being
presented by someone else may be flawed by their
interpretation, or may not even exist. The
uncertainty this creates requires everything to
be subjective.
This is getting hard... :)

I usually run away screaming fromt his type of thing, but I'd just like to
make a quick request. Before you send a message to mobility, ask yourself if
it's appropraite and if it's relevant. Neither of the above are appropriate,
for many obvious reasons. I'm not opposed to off-topic messages here and
there, but this is turning into a mathematical discourse relating to
philosophy, and it would be much appreciated by myself and MANY others if
such long threads of off-topic material was discussed privately. As I said,
I don't mind when OT stuff starts here, but this discussion has been on
mobility for too long. Invite interested parties to join the discussion,
because they exist, but please do it privately. I know your opinions may
conflict with this, but please re-read the introductory statement you
received when you joined. This is a Moby list. Thanks for reading. Long live
Moby.

dammit, when i set the VCR to tape the last half hour
of 120 and AMP (i only had 1:30 left on the tape) i
accidentally put "40" for the channel instead of "47"
so instead of MTV i got LIFETIME!!!! GRRRR!!!!! how am
i gonna see MOBY on lifetime!?!?!?!?
this has never happaned, i mean before i forgot to set
it, or i was away and couldnt set it, or my mom taped
over my tape (over the Chems/FBSlim specail on
AMP!!!!!) so i couldnt use it until she watched what
she had to, or i forgot to turn the VCR off.... but
never this!!!!!! damn, lifetime?!?!?!!
ANYWAY, did any1ne see 120? how was the video???????
theyll probly play it on AMP soon but just in
case.....
right, A&E did not play Python either! damn! and
theyre not doing it this week..... anybody know about
this? why????
also, at the POTATO FEST, at the "Teen Area" i
brought
PLAY in in hopes that theyd play it, and they did!!!!
one of the dj's asked me "is this the one with the
James Bond Theme?" and of course i said no thats ILTS
but thats crescent that he even recognized Moby. so
later, while they were repairing the fucking terribly
broken speaker system, after two Offspring songs, he
played Bodyrock, and obvoiusly NOBODY knew what the
hell was playing. and after that, they didnt get
another cd on, so they let "Natural Blues" play!!! and
of course NOBODY was dancin or anything...... and they
actually cut it off about 10 seconds too early and
some phreak with red hair in a Pennywise shirt yelled
"Yay!!!!!" just kind of as a second thought, and then
they played Jordan Knight so all the teenyboppers
started dancing again and i left. but hey, thats a
better response than when i sneaked some UNDERWORLD on
last year! every kid was like "turn this shit
off!!!!!!" but they didn't because they said "we're
playing it to the end!" and of course "Moaner" is 10
min. long! but i let em cut it off early.......
