I think it's impossible to be a total vegan, i.e totally
free from dealing with animal products. You are killing
some microscopic life-form everyday. Amoebas are
single-celled animals - but, as a vegetarian myself, my
sympathy would not extend to an amoeba as much as a dog or
cat. The whole point of being vege for me is not trying to
be God, but trying to ease animal cruelty and suffering as
much as I try to contribute to easing human cruelty and
suffering by supporting human rights organisations like
Amnesty International. It's only by doing nothing rather
than something, that allows evil to grow. So the argument
that there's no point in being a vege or human rights
activist, because no matter what we do, we somehow
contribute to the world's suffering, doesn't wash with me.
It's all a bit defeatist - you have to start somewhere.
It's better to buy a leather wallet (if there's no
alternative) that lasts a lifetime, then buy meat everyday.

If you don't have compassion for at least our mammal
cousins, it's likely your compassion for our fellow humans,
is limited also. Just because you're a vege/vegan doesn't
mean you hate humans, though there are probably some who do
- - for other individual and personal reasons.

well said, Tim...it's like if you're negotiating with a terrorist, and they
say they're goin to release half of their hostages...you don't say "No, all
or none, bucko"  you take the half, and work on the rest...(not actually my
metaphor, I stole it from the religious right, and used its power for good
instead of evil)  so, sure, you can't live your life without hurting other
creatures, but you can choose to reduce the amount of harm where you can.  I
think that those who complain about people trying to better themselves by
being a little nicer to the world we live in need to take a long hard look
at their own lives...but that's just me...but I agree with what others have
said that vegetarianism is a personal decision, and I have no tolerance for
those who try to impose thier views about anything on anyone else...

Definitely. The only way forward is by respecting others
choices, and then they might begin to respect yours. Of
course, I have no tolerance for fascism or any other form of
mind control and dictatorship - which is probably wrong in
itself....actually, no it's not - we're only human and it's
sometimes necessary to have intolerance of something as
intolerant and evil as that.

I think, these days, Moby holds a balanced view on all
these issues, which is why so many respect him...I think.

Right that's enough of the moral highground babbling from
me.

No I did not ,and never will, intend for PC to = Positive Christian. I used
PC in terms of Politically Correct (aka: mainstream media). But in the end
both are fairly destructive.*

*NOTE: I am not coming down on all you christians. Rather religious faith in
general. This is my view and I expect many to not agree. Religious faith can
be a very dangerous thing. I am agnostic therefore I do not deny the
possibility of a supernatural force/power, but I do deny taking a "book" as
face value and killing others in it's defense. 98% of ALL wars in the
history of man-kind have been over religion and what a certian god (power)'s
name is in their specific book.  But faith, however you define it (and
practice it) can be wonderful thing on a one to one basis. How i define my
faith is a personal thing, probably everyone of us deines it differently.  I
guess by saying that then all those wars are justified, oh well life is far
to complex to make it black and white. I guess I am just coming down on
blind and mindless following again. That is what I see as destructive.

Especially over the past 300 years. I just don't believe the stat so I would
like you to prove it to me. If I can name TWO wars that had nothing to do with

While we're at it, is this religion exclusively, or religion used as a hook
for coveting status, wealth, people, lebenstraum, and all the rest? It seems
that a lot of the time religion was used as a convenient tag to hang the
above on. Some exceptions, granted, but even the crusades had an element of
giving the younger sons of nobility something to do.

I agree with you there, definitely...I think the majority if not all of
religious oriented wars religion was simply used as a hook to motivate the
soldiers to fight in wars that were actually motivated by politics, greed,
etc.  religion is a tool used by the selfish to control the masses...

what i thought that meant was 98%of ALL wars. documented or not. tribal
wars, the crusades, all the little european wars before it was europe,
muslims, whatever. all those are wars too, and theres been thousands of them
since man learned that he can kill. not just world war 2 and vietnam and all

Ima is normally a 2 CD set, but the second CD is just all of the songs from
