i'm also not a vegie, but i avoid meat as much as possible. mostly
because it's all my parents seem to eat.
i'm also a dj. been one for 5 years. i'm going to be releasing a mix cd
sometime soon. stuff like bt, paul van dyk, blank and jones, binary
finary, moby moby moby, and lots more progressive house and trance stuff
both old and new.
i'm a musician too! i have 3 cds available. well, the third is just now
getting mass produced and the art work will take a bit more time, but
everyone tells me that it's amazing. even people i don't know! i have a
weekly radio show here in duluth at KUMD, a 100,000 watt station.
EVERYONE ON THIS LIST NEEDS TO LISTEN TO IT!! i play moby all the time.
you can listen at www.kumd.org. my show is tuesday night at 9pm to 11pm
central. the really uplifting dance starts around 9:30 - 10.
i've finally reached the point in my music and djing where i can honestly
say that i'm pretty damned good. please understand that i NEVER talk big
about myself. it's very hard for me to brag.
oh, and i'm 23 as of yesterday! weeee!
well, i could talk about myself for hours, so i should quit.
listen to my show and call me at 1-800-566-KUMD!!!!!! i'd love to talk to
ya'll!

it's not a dumb question. a vegetarian excludes all animal flesh:red and
white meat and fish. a vegan eschews all animal products from his/her
lifestyle: no meat, dairy, eggs, leather, wool, honey, silk, products tested
on animals, etc...
im 21 and have been vegan for 8 motha f-cking yrs! (go me!) : )
congratulations to all who are vegetarian or vegan and those aspiring to be.
thank you so very much for sparing the lives of animals.
animal liberation, vegan power.
ps- cant wait to see moby play for nyu wednesday!

there are different types of vegetarians, identified by the prefixes.
lacto means dairy
ovo means eggs
pesco means fish
pollo means poultry
so someone who doesn't eat red meat is a pesco-pollo-lacto-ovo =
vegetarian.
someone who eats no animal products is a "total vegetarian", and a =
"vegan" is a total vegetarian who does not use products tested on =
animals and does not wear animal products. it is virtually impossible =
to be a total vegan because my understanding is that tires are made with =
gelatin, as is all photographic film (except fuji). but we all do our =
best.
there are apparently 600,000 vegans in the U.S. I am one of them :) =
and it is really cool to see so many of you too! i became vegan around =
the time i started listening to moby and his essays helped to encourage =
me in my new diet. i think it is cool how he makes it known that he is =
vegan but he is not "in your face" about it. and he doesn't just throw =
his beliefs at you; he supports his opinions with hard facts. anyone =
considering veganism should read "Diet For A New America" by John =
Robbins (the son of the founder of Baskin-Robbins, who decided that =
eating ice cream is bad). it's loaded with documentation and facts. =
i'm 27 by the way and an aspiring ambient musician. i really dig moby's =
ambient work. has anyone heard the little idiot cd that came with the =
animal rights cd in the import version? it is his best ambient work i =
think. it makes me cry :)
are there any gay vegans out there? i decided i only want to date a =
vegan but i can't find any :)

Subject: (mobility) SOUTH SIDE SAMPLED FROM/VH1/Hackers 3
ok, i was listening to WPKN 89.5 at 7:30 last night,
when Andy Bologovsky played a song that had exactly
the same beat as SOUTH SIDE!!! like, after the guitar
part in the beginning, and all the beat and everything
comes in, all that was the beat of the song, just
slowed a little (compared to MobY)
as if that werent enuff, the bassline sounded a lot
like that from "Mobility"!
so i called the dj, and he said it was a band called
Mom, the song also called "Mom", from about 1994. he
later said it was from a cd called _Acid Jazz: The
Vibe_ , turns out its on Instinct records (!) one of
their _This Is Acid Jazz_ cds, also featuring trax by
EM&I and OMU.
who knows, maybe its Moby in disguise?
also, listening to the electro circus, aand the first
song Dave The Wave plays is "South Side"! i didnt make
that up! crazy. i kept listening just in case he woukd
say sumthin like "that was his new single" but he
never did.
later he also played "Why Can't It Stop" and said it
was "brand new Moby, but it was originally released as
Lopez, and now its coming out on the Hackers 3
soundtrack" so there ya go, a "Why Cant It Stop"
rerelease. definitely buy it if you cant find it or
never heard it, its a great song. i never realized how
good it was before. i mean he played it live, i think
that wass the 1ne he stagedived during, but i never
realized how good and powerful that song really was,
awesome.
oh yes, watching VH1ne R&R Jeopardy (DONT ASK WHY) and
during the category for "B-Sides Ourselves" the $600 ?
(Double Jeopardy round) was somthing like "this
'whale' of a techno DJ was noted in the Guiness book
for making a song 1000 BPM on the B-side of a 1992
single" and the guy got it!
rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
thats weird how they mention bands like the Breeders
or Moby or NIN on that show that they would NEVER
play.
i mean i saw the 100 greatest Women in R&R and Bjork,
Ani, Indigo Girls, Kim Gordon, KIm Deal, Liz, Polly
Jean, etc. were all up there. if any1ne besides
college radio types had heard of Rebecca Gates
(Spinanes, one of my favoritte indie bands) or
LAETITIA, they would be up there too. thats crazy, MTV
wont even touch these bands and VH1ne does specials on
them! and also, they play the new Luscious Jackson
which MTV doesnt even touch! and Cibo Matto starts in
that video! if Vh1 wasnt so stuck in the 70s or
whatever, theyd almost be worth watching. crazy.
also, i was wondering about Moby's Yello remix, is it
any good?
k bye!!!!

Anyway, if you haven't seen him live you simply must. He's an

looking for the movie/soundtrack since then -- I didn't realize it hadn't
been made yet, and thought maybe it was just a rumor to begin with. I
vaguely recall something about a scene in the movie with Moby playing
acoustic guitar with two vibrators strapped to his head...but
anyway....heheh... Should be an amazing soundtrack!

I have been a 'basic' vegetarian for a year now (no meat, but some dairy).
My goal is to be vegan. I totally agree that the facts and essay #1 on
"everything is wrong" is one of the first and most hard-core non-sugarcoated
things I've ever read on the matter and found it very motivating. (Thanks
Daveeee for the book recomendation, I've been wanting to read more about this
lately).
I am 22, sing (I do a lot of this in the car, too) play guitar and piano.
And I had a question: Moby has so many songs about dying. I wondered if
anyone had any info straight from him (like quotes) on the matter. Theories
are so easy to make up...I do remember him saying that when he was younger he
was a depressed white man (something like that)...
ok I'll shut up now.
ps: happy birthday [xaq]!!!
