Hey whats up all. I'm new to this list but not ney to Moby. I'm 20 years
old and love Moby (I've seen him 5 times). I first heard moby in 1994 when
I heard "Next is the E" at a rave. I went out and bought "Moby" and loved
it. I then got "Ambient" and started collecting his stuff. I own 15 moby
cd's:
Moby
Early Underground
Ambient
Everything is Wrong
Rare: The Collected B-Sides
I like To Score
Animal Rights
Play
Move (single)
Every Time You Touch Me (single)
Feeling so Real (single)
Bring Back my Happieness (single)
Honey & Run On(single)
Honey (single)
Honey (remixes)
If any one knows where I can find some old moby stuff in NYC please let me
know. I'm searching for some old 12" so I can mix it in when I spin.
Every one seems to be doing a top 10 favorite albums so here are mine.
Moby - Next is the E
Keoki - All Mixed Up
Josh Wink - United Dj's of America
Lords of Acid - Voodo U
Praga Khan - Pragmatic
Coldcut - Cold Krush Cut's
DJ Krush - Krush
Orbital - In-Sides
Juno Reactor - Transmissions
Moby - Play

Hi everybody, my amigo Marcus has a Voodoo Child 12" fresh in! He usually
has other Instinct Moby in stock, too. Be sure to check for Moby, Voodoo
Child, Barracuda, Brainstorm, and UHF under each of their appropriate
headings and you'll usually find 3 or 4 gems. Reference the discography and
you can usually fiund Moby's remixes of others, too. I got my R & S 'Voodoo
Child' record form him, as well as 'Voodoo Ray' from A Guy Called Gerald,
and a Jam & Spoon 'Stella' 12" which doesn't have the Moby remixes, but the
b-sides instead. (lots of voodoo, eh?) Check it out, it's a great catalog!

so i was listening to Fran Fried's SLEEP DEPRIVATION
EXPERIMENT this morning, thats why i got up so late,
and he played HONEY and WDMHFSB?, and when he went to
announce the songs he said how much moby's show
rocke!!!!!! yay!!!!!! then later he remembered to say
sumthin: A week from tomorrow, Annette Sczesziul (or
sumthin) will broadcast an interview she conducted
with Moby be4our the show!!!!! so tune in to 89.5 WPKN
FM 12elve noon a week from tomorrow, or if you cant do
that, listen on wpkn.org easternt ime uv corse
but he didnt mention that he met me after the show!!!!
also, he wrote about the show in his column this
morning:
after writing tons of shit about woodstock:
OUR OWN LITTLE BLAZE:
While Woodstock burned Sunday, so did Toad's, only in
a much more positive way. I can't remember the time I
saw a show so electrofying there.
For those who think dance music is repetitive aand
boring, there was Moby, who survived Woodstock nicely,
to set everyone straight.
Using a live drummer, percussionist and bassist and
playing guitar himself (along with backing vocal
tapes), he made the music come alive -- be it his
early frenzy, like "Go", or later, more ambient and
experimental tracks, like "Why Does My Heart Feel So
Bad" (which he didnt play at the show... but Fran
played this song last night, so i guess he really
likes that song) from his new album "Play"-- in ways
one couldn't imagine hearing it in a dance club or on
the radio. And Moby, a slight gentle man by nature,
looked absolutely possessed.
This Sunday night show was what a Saturday night
should be in this town and never is anymore. And why
he is'nt a superstar, or closer to one, is beyond me.
AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hen it links the article about his two percussionists
and Paul Simon's 4our percussionists....
seriously WHY IS MOBY NOT FAMOUS!?!?!?!?? this is
obscene!!!!! its because of the record companies that
never gave techno the chance it deserved.
anyway ddont want to get into that, i've been
listening to "MY WEAKNESS" a lot lately. any1ne else
feel deeply affectionate about this song???? i dont
know why it justs hits me there *hits some place that
is not his heart* i mean here *misses agin* well you
know where my heart is!!!
i just won an ebay auction! Monty Python _Final
Ripoff_ for 10$ with shipping! yay!!!!!

has anybody checked the whole list? there's A LOT of
questionable stuff on the list. and A LOT of albums
that are placed strangely. but hey! we don't write the
thing! if you get a chance, take a look when your at
the store. it's kinda funny!
oh yeah! and i noticed that a lot of people are
putting bjork's homogenic on there list. while i think
it's a GREAT album, i think that post had much more of
a musical impact and influence.

Check out the remixes from the singles at this time. I want to say that Moby
did one (or am I thinking of his Orbital remix?) In any case, I loved
Experience when it came out and a lot of people thought I was crazy when I
thought that Prodigy would be huge. I didn't think they'd get as good as
they are now, though. I love those guys. Liam Howlett is actually a really
decent guy. Keith is a bit of a prick, but I think part of it is his rock
star image. In any case, I'd love to see Moby and Prodigy tour again, but I
know Moby is really upset about the song "Smack My Bitch Up". What a crazy
video that is. BTW, anyone here ever see the Aphex Twin video for
"Windowlicker"? I've showed it to a few non-Aphex Twin fans, and they CANNOT
stop talking about it. They think it's the funniest/best video they've ever
seen. Sorry if this topic has been discussed before.
Gonna take your brain to another dimension...pay close attention!
Joe (who turns the ripe old age of 24 tomorrow)

My top ten changes from week to week, but here are some favorites (both new
and longterm) in no particular order...
The Very Best Of Lou Reed (UK best of released this year)
(I just discovered Lou Reed and wonder how I lived without his music before
this...)
Talking Heads - Sand In The Vaseline (2CD best of)
(You'll love it or hate it. I love it.)
U2 - Achtung Baby
(made me love music)
Tupac - All Eyez On Me (one of the very few gangsta rappers I enjoy, this is
the best of the genre imho)
Wilco - Summer Teeth (from this year, ended my foolish 2 year techno/dance
only streak)
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream (you all said it already)
U2 - The Joshua Tree (my favorite album by my favorite group)
Moby - * (you all know I feel about Moby, I couldn't choose just one)
Ned's Atomic Dustbin - Godfodder (a guilty pleasure, brit teen angst pop)
Built To Spill - Keep It Like A Secret (great alternative, tightly wound and
catchy as all get out)
and I need a greatest hits for Creedence Clearwater Revival very badly.
Consider them included, too.
Okay so that was 11. Shoot me.
(gee I need something in parenthesis for this line too)

i totally agree here, moby should be a lot more recognized than he is. His
style is so spiritual in most cases. For example the first two tracks on the
album "everything is wrong" just lift you up. In order to appreciate Moby,
you have to be able to feel his music.
Just to note, another artist that is definatley worth looking into is rabbit
in the moon. check out their new album FLOOR.I.D.A. It;s a nice blend of
spiritual techno and a slow jungle beat.

You guys hit something here that separates Moby from so many other
musicians...I think it is fair to say that he is at peace with himself and
with God. Not that he doesn't have his own problems or issues (I don't know
what they are), and he is most certainly passionate about many things
(environment, Christ, animal rights, etc.) but Moby loves life and it comes
through in his music. Only someone who has some sort of inner peace could
write something like "When It's Cold I'd Like to Die", "God Moving Over the
Face of the Waters," or "Everloving". Moby is without a doubt a composer
with potential to equal Bach or Beethoven. Don't laugh...I think he
possesses above average intelligence and when he writes music he wants to
tap into EMOTION. If he continues to write and perform music he will be one
of the best musicians of our generation. I say that not in an ass-kissing
sort of way, but because he truly is one hell of a performer. I cannot wait
to see him again.
