Hi Folks
I never realized how many people on this list liked the smashing pumpkins! They rank right up there with moby and the
beatles for me. I'm curious if anyone would be interested in trading some pumpkins (or other bands) mp3's. I would love to get
my hands on some LIVE stuff.
Here's a list of what i have in mp3. Let me know what you have if you want to trade.
and to make this somewhat, slightly related to moby... i do have a few live mp3's from a minneapolis show if anybody wants em.

He will break it out as the very last song and he will
play it on dat and shake with you. It looks kind of
really Dr. Frankinstienish I guess cus hes all covered
with sweat and green and purple lights on his body,
but such a great show that I think im going to try to
get out of work and spend an hour with Moby again.

ahhh come one let's go for post-mellon collie. mellon collie was great
except some of the songs near the end of disc 2 really sucked. post=-mellon
collie because then we can exclude adore since adore wasn't really that good
of a cd. it actually kind of sucked with the only good songs being perfect
and apples+oranges

i realize this is very non-moby-related, so i'll be
brief. to me Mutations was an extension of what Beck
began with One Foot in the Grave, an amazing folkish
record, mostly acoustic renderings of his first, my
favorite Beck release thus far. with Nigel Godrich in
the production booth, it seemed like he was just
exploring some of the same musical ideas but trying to
update the sound in the studio. i agree the effect was
not as appealing as i had hoped. i still enjoy
Mutations though, but it pales next to One Foot in the
Grave or any number of bootleg radio show acoustic
performances i have from the same early years, which
are stunning. sorry again for getting off topic, but i
love beck too.
chris
p.s. daniel cerman--i havent seen the Sept. 8 NC show
added to the official tour schedule yet on moby.org.
any word? thanks.

Hi, I'm a new subscriber. My name is Meaghan, i'm female, 20 and I live in
toronto canada. My favorites musicians are Skinny Puppy and Moby.
Favorite song of Moby's is "That's When I Reach for My Revolver".
I have some questions which I would like to direct to anyone who is
familiar with the Albany area. I have a ticket for Moby's show on August
2nd, and I'd like to know if the best idea would be to take a bus/ train
to Albany and then find Clinton Park (the location named on the ticket)
from there. According to the map, that seems like the best idea, but
since I'm not at all familiar with New York State, I don't know how far
apart this Clinton Park place is from Albany. Advice anyone? I'd like to
know as well, how long are the performances on this tour, to those who
have already been lucky enough to attend.
Thank you!
Meaghan

Subject: (mobility) Absolute top ten!
Although I really like Smashing Pumpkins and NIN, I wouldn't put them into
my all time list, however the list which was put together took a lot of
thinking. And it was a lot harder seeing other people put down groups to
which I will felt bad for not putting down. Oh well, this IS my list after
all sooooo...
10.RadioHead- Ok Computer (1997) Nothing needs to be said here.
9.Hydra- Spooky Weirdness (1997) This album was a fluke for me. After
binging on cd's for a while at a music store, I saw this album and looked
at the title, it wasn't because I had heard a single, I just thought to
myself 'what could the title suggest?' Even the cashier chuckled at the
title, and seemed interested in what I would think about the album. It was
one of the best ideas I have ever done to pick up this album.
8.Unkle- Psyence Fiction (1998) OK OK OK, Entroducing was fantastic, I
agree, but I loved the diversity of this album so much that it is higher up
the ladder.
7.Delerium- Semantic Spaces (1994) Being that I liked Front Line Assembly
I knew I would like this album when I picked it up. I was wrong though, I
loved it!
6.Omni Trio- The Deepest Cut (?) The biggest suprise of the list! I am not
a big fan of Drum and Bass. However in saying that I am a huge fan of this
guy. This D&B album didn't just make me wanna move, but to relax and enjoy
all the senses stirring up inside me. So many anthemic songs, but the best
is still 'Haunted Kind' off "The Haunted Science" album.
5.Catherine Wheel- Adam and Eve (1998) Kudos to all the Catherine Wheel
fans out there. 'Chrome' as mentioned on many lists is a great album, but I
still prefer this one. These guys are great.
4.The Tea Party- Transmission (1997) Not just a band that can do ballads
like the new album would suggest, this last album full of harder industrial
like rock/electronic songs was pure heaven. However, their slower ballads
are great to, and on this album especially.
3.Machines of Loving Grace-Machines of Loving Grace (1991) Ahhh, soft
dancey industrial music, this album was amazing. All their albums do it for
me but this one I remember most. Can't wait for the new one to come out.
2.Mimi Goese-Soak (1998) Yes the same Mimi who blessed us with her vocals
for WICILTD, and ITB off of Everything is Wrong. This album is more of
that, and even some which are a lot harder and electronic. I am actually a
fan of her old stuff in an old New York underground art/rock band called
This album is close to #1 it was quite a struggle to decide, but I am happy
with my choices, and happy to have possession of this album. Anyone who
likes her stuff on EIW, would also enjoy.
1.Legion Of Green Men-Floating in Shallow Water (1999) Although hard to
decide between this and the last album, I went with the latter. Trying to
compare this album would be like saying put Moby's Play and End of
Everything together. To make one great album. It has a bluesy upbeat feel
with it's techno and ambient mold, yet doesn't sway to far from the first
album. I recommend this or "Spatial Specific" to anyone who loves great
music. For what they do, these guys are simply better then the Orb, and I
love the Orb.

Subject: Re: (mobility) Absolute top ten!
This is my Top Ten List of the Decade:
1. Annie Lennox: Diva
That album is amazingly lush, spiritual, and much better that later
Eurythmics releases. BUy the CD if only for "Legend in My Living Room."
2. Tori Amos - from the choirgirl motel
Her best work, and an amazing one at that. So many disparate musical styles,
and lyrics that knock you to the floor. The best songs on that are "Playboy
Mommy" and "She's Your Cocaine."
3. Garbage - Version 2.0
Their best album and one that does not leave my stereo after. It is mean,
menacing, and does away with the weak woman syndrome nicely. Love Shirley
Manson.
4. Portishead - Portishead
This is the album for bad breakups and evil thoughts everywhere. When Beth
Gibbons screeches for her lover to "don't despair" to a lover on the loose, I
felt nails go down my back let me tell you!
5. Janet Jackson - The Velvet Rope
This may be a "commercial release," but it is dark, sinister, menacing, and
bleak. Especially surprising is the pain on this album; what can Janet have
to be so sorry about? Amazing, as is "You," the best kiss off song ever.
She;s not trying to "please everyone, but satisfy her needs."
6. Radiohead - OK Computer
Beautiful, raunchy, and stylistic all in one. This is an album that
challenges you, that makes you pay attention to the midtempo changes and the
slurred lyrics.
7. Texas - White on Blonde
The sexiest white soul album ever made! texas creates lush symphonies and
lyrics that tease and tantalize your senses. Plus, it makes you horny
baby!!!!! "Say What You Want," but this is a must have in all collections.
8. Depeche Mode - Violator
The best album ever produced by these techno godfathers. The lyrics were some
of Martin Gore's best, and "Enjoy The Silence" remains beautiful and
melancholic.
9. Tricky - Maxinquaye
This album was amazing: dark, brooding, doped out, creepy, and dirty. The
beats were slow, the lyrics rushed or slowed down in parts, and one had to
wonder what was going on around them. "Abbaon Fat Track" is the best of the
trip-hop genre.
10. Kristine W. - Land of the Living
Essentially a dance record, this baby rocks and moves the body in many many
ways even Moby cannot. The lyrics on this record are amazingly deep fopr a
dance soul record, and the voice is a cross between Aretha and Donna Summer.
Wow!
An album everyone should get is Kate Bush's "The Hounds of Love." It is by
far one of the best albums ever made (it came out in 1985).
