  40.      Are we doing the best albums EVER? or JUST the 90s?
  41.      This is important because there are some AWESOME albums that came out in
  42. the 80's that I might include such as:

  44. - - Stone Roses: self tittled

  46.      and some others but I thought this specific request was for just 90s
  47. albums. It doesn't really matter I guess.

  58. How about we just say top 10 (or so) albums period!...and I will add Moby
  59. because he is important. i have thought about this list for a few days now
  60. so here it is.

  62. Mind you these are in no particular order...they are just the top of my
  63. list...
  64.

  66. SISTERS OF MERCY/FIRST LAST AND ALWAYS
  67. followed closely by "some girls wander...", nothing like smooth baselines,
  68. early syth, and aldrich's voice...the rhythmic din of the sister's baselines
  69. and tone..., there are very very few bands I will see live now a days but
  70. the sisters are one of them.
  71.  
  72. MINISTRY/THE MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO TASTE
  73. great songs, ground breaking ways, this album is supplemented by ministry's
  74. live album..."In case you didn't feel like showing up..." for the real raw
  75. emotion in the songs. "thieves" alone is an anthem for industrial music.
  76.  
  77. MOBY/MOVE
  78. The first moby album I bought and still my favorite, not only does it have
  79. those wonderful ambient songs it has the best version of the best moby
  80. track"all that i need is to be loved", but honestly it is hard to pick just
  81. one moby album/single/song.
  82.  
  83. JANE'S ADDICTION/NOTHINGS SHOCKING
  84. I am a heavy electronic music fan but jane's is amazing and this album, even
  85. though most of the material was written years before it was recorded
  86. captures the band at their best, if you own one jane's record this is it,
  87. but any of them you can't go wrong with, "Kettle wistle" is a good one for
  88. an overview of the band.
  89.  
  90. EARTHCRISIS/FIRESTORM
  91. The hardest most militant vegan straightedge hardcore record ever made and
  92. still the best, even though the straightedge hardcore scene is nothing like
  93. it was in it's hayday (1991-early 1995) this record still holds true. Plus I
  94. am from syracuse so I am a bit biased.
  95.  
  96. SKINNY PUPPY/TOO DARK PARK
  97. Ok, I know alot of puppy fans think this record is a bit weak compared to
  98. their earlier stuff but I think it is the best, such industrial strength and
  99. dark solid emotions in the songs.
  100.  
  101. NINE INCH NAILS/PRETTY HATE MACHINE
  102. I have always had a love/hate relationship with NIN...between the chessy
  103. teeny bopping "hate your parents/my life is pain " cliches trent seems to
  104. dig, to the pure style and layers of some of the more avant garde NIN
  105. tracks. "pretty hate machine' was i think one of the first industrial(ish)
  106. records that brought industrial and really electronic music into the
  107. mainstream. Broken and fixed are also good to see the progression of NIN,
  108. and the downward spiral is the only true industrial/alternative/pop/top 40
  109. record of an value, the record is worth itself if only for the track(s) "a
  110. warm place" and "hurt", the new stuff "the day the world went away" is just
  111. amazing and I can not wait for "the fragile" to come out. All in all if you
  112. look past the sideshow and fashion victims of NIN you see musical perfection
  113. (at times). NIN is the only other band i seriously collect besides moby.
  114.  
  115. MINOR THREAT/FUGAZI and YOUTH OF TODAY/SHELTER
  116. all four of those bands are amazing in their own rights, but the period of
  117. minor threat's transition into fugazi and vis-versa for youth of today into
  118. shelter are some great early hardcore. Minor threat's salad days and
  119. fugazi's  song number one 7inches are amazing, Youth of today's last single
  120. into Shelter's "quest for certianty"...oh my god!
  121.  
  122. THE CURE/DISINTEGRATION
  123. oh my! big long deep symphonic masterpieces. I am not a huge cure fan but
  124. this record is amazing and breathtaking.
  125.  
  126. BEASTIE BOYS/LICENSED TO ILL
  127. we all know it, we all love it and I bet we all can sing/rap (whatever) at
  128. least one track from this album. Phat baselines, oldskool feel and the
  129. groundwork the the b-boy's musical journeys.
  130.  
  131. THE PRODIGY/EXPERIENCE
  132. I know many consider "music for a jilted generation" the quintesential
  133. prodigy album but i always have leaned towards this one. It feels better to
  134. me and is probably has one of the best song orders of any album.
  135.  
  136. PORTISHEAD/LIVE IN NYC
  137. I like all of this bands music for the most part, but this record combines
  138. so many elements into such a great whole.
  139.  
  140. TRICKY/PRE-MILLENNIUM TENSION
  141. I like this album so much for it's complexity it is hard to talk about it.
  142. "christiansands" is am amazing track
  143.  
  144. VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO (the one with Warhol's banana on it)
  145. This album is from the late 60s, but sounds like it was recorded (musically)
  146. from last year...point is it always sounds current. EVERY
  147. electronic/goth/pop/rock band owes it's roots to this record and band. They
  148. really set the stage for modern underground music. They did for
  149. "alternative" what the beatles did for pop/mainstream.

  204. this is sigmund freud, hi! i guess moby made thousand with amusement
  205. of 'why not?' but as uncoscious levels of mind it also pretty nicely shows
  206. some sort of a flexibility or diversity or what fuck is he having in his
  207. mind anyway, that there's not much point to value things. no wrong nor
  208. right speeds, just different types of moving.

  218. Siamese Dream by Smashing Pumpkins was one of the best albums of the 1990's,
  219. and I thought that "Ten" by Pearl Jam was actually a great debut. The rest
  220. of their stuff never caught me. Alice in Chains had exactly 5 good songs
  221. (Would, Got Me Wrong, Rooster, Them Bones, Over Now). Jewel (or Spewel as I
  222. call her) really does suck. So does Limp Bizkit, Korn, etc. HELLO?? Ever
  223. hear of Helmet or Faith No More? They did that stuff better. And the
  224. Beasties mix rock and rap better than anyone. And what's more is that they
  225. actually grew up and got a brain instead of making sexist and homophobic
  226. remarks. Kudos to them.

  228. As far as most underrated band: by far it is Catherine Wheel. Pick up any of
  229. their 5 LP's, not to mention all the b-sides that never made it onto the
  230. "Like Cats and Dogs" LP and you've got yourself one of the best rock bands
  231. ever. If you don't have "Chrome", go buy it. It is AMAZING.

  400. i would have to agree that siamese dream is the pumpkins best cd. that disc 
  401. totally rocks. it was the first one i got and is still my favorite. their 
  402. new one, adore, man that one i didn't like at all. bush i think sucks even 
  403. though they have only 3 good songs (glycerine, machinehead and the mouth 
  404. remix). i don't know why so many people like them. they really aren't that 
  405. great. pearl jam is ok they have some decent stuff
  406. i also agree that korn sucks. they're stuff is so damn repetitive. same 
  407. thing in everysong. they've finally sold out so we probably won't hear much 
  408. more of their stuff for a while, or i hope anyway.
