just noticed you mentioned S&O in the last post
ha, ive created controversy!!!
just wanna let y'all know that I seem to blah blah
blah on about S&O on this list, but trust me, I blah
blah blah about Moby just as much on the S&O list. of
course, nobody cares about Moby on the other list (one
guy did ask me if that was the guy who got eaten on
Space Ghost! oh yes theres gonna be a BRAK VARIETY
HOUR soon!!!!!) (and some other girl said she hung out
with Moby a million years ago at some hole in the wall
club) (and someone else said she got an
autograph/drawing on a poster from Moby)
but besides that I havent converted aany Sockers to
Moby-ism. And I have met a few Moby freaks here whoi
have asked about S&O. Plus Frank Z (aka Kees) also
calls me Olly sometimes ;)
but anyway the show is STILLLLL not on, BUT MTV did
ask for a third season, and when it is on, i'll let
all of you know about it ;)
AND NOW: MOBY RELATED CONTENT!!!!
Okay, now if you could choose any 5 or so Moby songs
that don't have videos, and you could make videos for
them (as far-out as you want!!!) what would they be
like?
In other words, what do you see in yr headz when u
hear Moby?

they still haven't played Run On (to my knowlege, some of my

Something cool happened today. :)
Last week I brought Play to my figure drawing class because the prof lets
us listen to music while we draw. I thought the class liked the CD pretty
well.
Well, today this guy brings in a copy of Ambient he bought because he liked
Play so much! He said he couldn't find Play in the store, so he bought a
used copy of Ambient. I told him that Ambient was basically a collection of
old demos, so it wouldn't really represent where Moby is now, but it's so
cool that someone actually got interested in Moby just from hearing the
first half of Play. :)
It's too bad nobody liked the Orb CD I brought in. :(
I think I'll try James Brown and maybe some Fold Zandura.

ALL THAT I NEED IS TO BE LOVED(H.O.S.)-i would love to
see a live(REALLY LIVE-WITH THE MUSICIANS)performance
video for this song. lot's of lights and moby flailing
around with his guitar, all sweaty. bunches of people
in the audience jumping around like mad! that's the
experience i had the last time i saw moby perform the
song.
sorry the next one is so long.
ALONE(FULL LENGTH, because i don't know if the version
on animal rights is edited)-would start off with the
end of a big fight between a couple. the sex of the
couple is unimportant, but for shits and giggles,
let's say it's a guy/girl. and at the end of the fight
the girl leaves, and the guy put's a cd in his cd
player and alone comes on. the first 2 minutes or so
of music would just be the guy sitting around looking
distraught. then pacing around the room, or house
where he was sitting. maybe picking up the phone to
make a call...but hanging up before the person
answered. trying to right a letter...but wrinkling it
up an throwing it away before finishing. some tears
would be necassary as well. not a lot of natural
light. closed curtains and such. camera angles at the
guys eye level, and not showing the exits as much as
possible. no doors. then about 6 or seven minutes in
he would get up ...and walk out. like out of the
house. a nice pause on the front porch with the hand
shielding the face because he hasn't seen the
light(get it?)in days. a quick look back and forth up
the street and he picks a direction and walks. a
little faster. jogging. running. running fast...no
thoughts other than running. camera following along on
the side, so you can see the full body, arms and legs
pumping. as the song gets near the end, he would come
to a stop. where? not sure, a beautiful park, the
ocean...the girls front door. doesn't matter. but the
video(or short film)would end with him standing
there...breathing heavy....alone.

Hey all -
I just wanted everyone to know that althought I don't usually write to the
list (I mostly enjoy reading other people's opinions, and just having the
comforting feeling that if I ever get a really pressing question about Moby
there is a reliable panel to ask) but all of you seem to be very intelligent,
thoughtful, creative and wellmannered (hehe). I am also a member of a
Chemical Brothers mailing list, where the letters there often include
extremelly crude cursing, trivial and immature fights, etc. I became a Moby
fan after buying "Play" (which is undisputedly the most beautiful record in
my entire collection of CDs) and the fans make me feel confident in Moby
admiration. Thanks, for making my introduction to Moby so pleasent.

Hey, thanks for reading it everytime it gets posted. I try to tweak it
each time to be more accurate and reflective of what this list needs to
know. For example, I have emphasized the need for list members to only
post emails with the address they first subscribed with to help me and
them avoid problems.
But for most seasoned members of the list, it's nothing new. :)

You guys are great. LOL. It did use to say Aphex Twin but the huge and
"Waaaaaaaaayy out of control" chain of postings motivated me to update
it soon after.

Subject: (mobility) If "Spirit" were a video?
Ok for those of you haven't heard "Spirit",
its on one of the Run On singles.
Though the more i listen to this song.. The more i want to call it "Running"
And the opposite for the other track that IS named "Running".
Anyways awhile back after hearing it over and over (because I liked it so
much)
I came up with this little "what if it were a video" thing.
If youve ever seen the adidas commercial with moby's "memory gospel", the
commercial
has a sorta of stop motion sorta slomo thing. well whatever it is I had that
sort of
same idea in mind for "Spirit".
Well anyways this is what happens when you listen to moby too much!
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
"Imagine if you will"
Ok get your cd or if you have it mp3ed, get "Spirit" ready to play.
and play it with this email in front of you..
the times at the left are what i saw on my mp3 player, its easier to move
back and forth (imho)
with the mp3.
Anyways you may need to listen to it a couple of times or even pause it to
"see" what im imagining.
GO!
0:01 - the camera out of focus shows a track field. Your average track
field.
0:26 - the camera begins to show the crowd in the stands, panning around the
track (still out of focus).
1:19 - the various runners stretch and try to shake their anxiety before the
start.
1:47 - "the runner" notices a young child cheering for the athletes.
Suddenly he remembers his youth. Running, PLAYing with his friends.
(flashback shown)
2:13 - the gun sounds. he's running!
2:30 - he's running faster than everyone.
3:00 - his breathing becomes in sync with the beat (almost exhaling in sync
with the cymbals).
3:20 - he crosses the finish line outstretched, unbalanced. the action
PAUSES him in mid-air.
the camera pans around him in slomo.. still paused.. the sweat slowly beads
off.. the camera zooms in on "the runner"'s eyes, so close you can see the
reflection of "the child" cheering for him.
3:55 - fade to black.
i know moby's song is much more emotional than that.. but i kept seeing this
when i heard it
so once again.. oh well!! :)
laters
