I assume you're talking about my post. I actually do like Fatboy; the first
FbS album was great, especially "Everybody Loves a 303" and its remixes.
The 2nd album was just too predictable for me, though it has its moments.

I agree fillmmaker. Electronica, or whatever label you place on electronic
music is much more varied and hard to categorize than people assume. I would
not consider MOBY to be similar to Fat Boy Slim, whom I also enjoy (though
MOBY is preferred listening).
I think the main problem with electronica is the many different genres that
are brought under that moniker. People hear an artist, like MOBY for example,
and assume all electronica is like that. However, rap and R&B rely heavily
upon samples and programming, staples of the electronica music "label." Also,
the label ignored the many different styles and submusic categories
electronic music has to offer: drum and bass, jungle, happy hard core,
techno, ambient, digicore, industrial, trip hop, etc.
Electronic music has lots to offer. I like the fact that artists like the
Prodigy, the Chemical Brothers, MOBY, Underworld, Bjork operate within the
mainstream to a certain extent. They are not sell-outs, but artists who want
to expand their musical audiences and bring their music to the masses (to
quote Depeche Mode, a pioneering electronic group).
Also, I think that electronic music has a unique opportunity; it can meld,
mix, and combine disparate musical traditions and genres, incorporate
samples, strings, and old school rap and soul into a whole new sonic form.
That is something standard musical genres cannot do adequately.

hi,
LIST-friends
i thank you for all yo reposts about the line "He's All Alone"
if god exists
it sure be the loniest person in Universe, bli-me
i was so sure about these words, hey I'm Dutch, i did get surprised about
these words when an AMERICAN speaking guy said "He's coming down"
well i never believed that, i said (to myself) you have to be a Christian
for that!
and i didnt worry so much untill somebody said: These Open Doors!"
well great! It's totally there!
well it's all edited, and i can hear that!
Remeber this is from 1925
and if you edit such singing, you easily go cut of a t in the first word,
and than it sounds already different
and than if you cut of the 'rs' at the end, it starts soundind like:
He's O A lone"
I dont know for 100% sure the source might be different, but is this not
what he wants to TELL?
i even heard: 'he is so alone'.... but t considered that too much!
"Heeeee'zz all-alOne" that's the phrase, or what he meant in my ears
this is about the BEST sentence of PLAY
dont yo know?
He's All Alone
i know
MOBY is ALONE
he dont have a girlfriend!
Thats bad for him!
That's why he makes such abnormally terrific Music!
Becauese
He's all Alone!
ok it's true: he opens doors
that's why You have to LISTEN to him, and have yo ears open!
He's

Ok, my GO single is I guess the US one because it says on the Disc (I left the
case at home) Instinct Records 1991. Funny enough I found it in Tokyo, and it
was 150 yen! That is a little over 1 dollar!

Also, I have seen the Drop a Beat Single numerous times, so I don't think that
one is that hard to find. And if anyone wants anything that I had doubles or
triples of, please tell me!

The Hymn Promo and the Run on Promo I have are exactly the same as the normal
editions, just promos I think. I didn't even listen to them after I compared
track listings. I only have the CDs with me in Japan, so I can't check the
case or inserts. Sorry.

My 1st CD in the Come on Baby is 6 tracks! Track 5 is:
All That I Need is to Be Loved (live at the Splash Club)
Track 6 is Hymn. Was that a typo by you or do we have different copies?

And, Hymn.alt.quiet.version is 33.45 even though it is written largly enough
that it is 33.33333333333 on the insert. Thats too bad.

Anyway, Thanks for your reply Bart. Kind of dissapointed no one else replied
though... Too busy talking about Fat Boy Slim. Anyway, Later.

today, dear freaks, it sounds like:
"tears (are) coming down"
this song is editted strangly, listen after the first line spoken "why does
my heart feel so bad?".. do-du-do-dumm-dumm... something falls down?..a very
strange 'cut' i'd say, then after the second line... again!
...do-de-dummm-dummm again a strange sound like a old tape cut or so...
so this thing is OVER-edited
but it still remains my favorite SENTENCE on the WHOLE album!
if my Tannoys cant 'read' it - it's recorded bad
...let's ask Columbia Records...

saturday morning,
i want to share some emotions with you,
because i play 'everloving' every day, and i think it starts to work... :-)
This List,
This Play-list
of course i'm an old motherfucker, and i have a lot of words, but...
i dont know how to say this...
if it's because Play came to me, or if it's becaue i went back to you folks
on this WARM, happy List.
Maybe it's the same
but i feel so LOVING, this feeling is re-newed to me, because i can tell you
folks, the whole year 1998 I was A-Lone and i hated everyone and ALL doors
were closed, and i didn't even cry!
..so now, these last two months i'm getting better every day, i even get
messages from clairvoyants! telling me that great things are gonna happen to
me!... i don't know, i think they are already happening! NOW PLAYING #15
...this Angel Curtis woman, she said she found my name on A list... or
something, well i never believe that, i always ask: WHICH one? she wouldnt
tell... so it must be THIS list, because i no member of any other... so, if
you friends get any messages from any Angel Curtis, just send them to ME,
and i'll collect them, and then after that, i'll tell this SO_CALLED,
would-be psychich that i SEE more clearly than her! Oh I hate her...
already, because she speaks about me as if she KNOWS all about me and SHE DONT
...no i'm gonna love her, i'm gonna love her, gonna want to SAVE her, cause
i think she's DOOMED... she is in HELL, because she is making MONEY with her
GIFTS.... and that's AGAINST all LAW!
in the WHOLE history of mankind, there has none ever human been, who made
money from being WISE, so better watch out for that!
- -------------------------this a a hard one to play...-----

What reason do we have to call "P" the sign for Perception? 'Perception' is
in fact a word from our general, not only for me comprehensible, language.
The use of this word, therefor, needs a justification, that's clear to
everyone. - And it wouldnt help to say: 'it doesn't HAVE to be a perception;
when he writes "P" he _has_ _something_ (italics) - and that's all we can
say. But, 'to have' and 'something' are also part of our general language.
This is where philosophizing always comes to a point where you would want to
scream a not articulated SOUND. But a sound like that, has only one meaning
in a certain "language-game", which needs to be described now."

I partially agree with this theory. This seems like this album is almost
as personal as animal rights without any lyrics. Even some of the more
blues like songs don't seem depressing to me but some do seem sad. Also I
don't know how the rest of you interpret "Natural Blues", but to me it
almost seems to be questioning god. Sort of in the spirit of "Blasphemous
Rumors" (Depeche Mode) or "Dear God" (XTC). The "if god is so good why do
all these terrible things happen all around us every day?" mentality
(cringe). I'd just be interested to hear if anyone turned this into a
positive song in their mind, somehow. Perhaps its just my opinions getting
in the way....

Oh yes, speaking of that non-Fatboy tune, anyone
notice how in the part in the middle where theres a
piano solo (sort of), Moby plays the Spoonie Gee
sample like he's sort of sayingg "Rock The House"? If
you listen to it, it sort of sounds like that... Maybe
thats a shoutout to his old fans, whove supported him
from the beginning! and all the new fans wont get it!
doesnt the "Rock The House" sample sound like Spoonie
Gee also? is it him? and why does Moby spell it
'Spoony G' in the PLAY liner notes!?!?
Also, theres one song... crap i forget which 1ne....
but theres this moaning type sample, which he also
uses in "Morning Dove" from Move... any1ne notice
