WOW,
Dan, after Frankz wrote "He's all alone" I listened and it really
sounded like that. I'll have to check it out listening for the
"These open doors".
But what does that really mean? It kinda made sense when the guy was
wondering about his heart and then being alone. But now he's wondering
about his broken heart and then thinking about opening doors? The
doors to his soul? Hmmmm ...

Nope, that's incorrect. She sings "these open doors".
BTW, I just got back from NYC, where I witnessed Moby's rockin'
performance at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square. I am typing
up my account of the event, but I'm not finished yet... I have to
go to a class. I'll post my report later on.

Wow! An impressive collection! Is the Go single you have the US or the
European one? If it is the US (instinct label) one, WHERE THE HELL DID
YOU FIND IT? I have been looking for it for ages!

Here's a piece from Daniel Cermans discography:
COME ON BABY [4 Nov 1996]
UK 2CD, Mute, CDMute200
NOTE: Limited edition of 10000 copies worldwide, including 5000 in
the UK. This single is a double CD in a black rubber sleeve.
Live tracks were recorded at the Splash Club in July 1996.
Promos have "MOBY" and "COME ON BABY" in orange print, rather
than the black rubber impressions of the public version.
The 2CD of Come On Baby is considered a real collectors item and
is pretty rare. I got my copy of this single a few days ago along with
the Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 (remixes) single with a Moby mix.
>Anything I have that is hard to find?
Ahum..Are you kidding? I consider these CDs VERY hard to find:
- - *Go
- - *Move - Promo
- - *Come on Baby - 2CD Leather Bound Version
- - Honey - 2trk Promo
- - *Honey - 6trk Promo
- - *Run On - Promo
- - UHF - UHF
- - Drop a Beat
- - James Bond Theme - Promo (2 copies)
- - *Hymn - Promo
Could you please give me all the info you can get (catalog#, rel. year,
country,
label) about this Hymn promo? I've never heard of it!

How about in Machete when he says something like " I take the needles from

ok-why are we talking about fat boy slim so damn much?
i think everything moby has ever done is better than
anything norman cook has done(.)
has anyone noticed that moby uses the word "die" or
dead or death in at least three songs on play? i'm at
work or i'd be more specific. but for sure south side.
run on "..gonna cut you down." maybe porcelain. and
the whole album definitely feels down. kinda
melancholy.
on the electronica issue..i agree with that fillmaker
person..there is more than enough room for all types
of electronic music, and to limit any would do harm to
all. i will say though, that artist's like moby and
rdj(aphex) who change there style and sound often are
my favorite. anybody out there listen to leila?

To forewarn this is my personal opinion, but i think that ANY of Mr.
Cooks music is much better than Animal Rights. Mainly just because some of
us out there like the dancier stuff better.

Actually, I thought it to be the other way around. It seems to me
that he has actually softened his heart towards the spiritual side of things
a little.

ok-you got me there! i really am not partial to animal
rights. love that little idiot cd though. but someone
else just mentioned today that they did'nt like that
cd-so hey! where all different.

oh yes! i definitley think it's MUCH more spiritual! i
mean, there are gospel songs on this album. but with
EIW you had really up techno songs mixed with thrash
metal mixed with ambient mixed with a sad vocal
track(wiciltd). on this album, there are very few
songs, if any, that have that up feeling. like say
move or fsr. I LOVE THIS ALBUM! so din't get me wrong.
it may be his best. it's just that, to me, a lot of it
seems sad.

Subject: (mobility) Play
I walked into the store to the new releases rack on June 1st, not 15 feet
inside the front door. I snapped up Play and turned around 180 degrees to
pay, as the register is right there. The whole visit to the store took about
30 seconds, to the great amusements of the 'cynical' employees.
I finally got ahold of a cord that lets me plug the old boombox into the new
amp, and with new speakers, it sounded great. Lots of people here are
discussing how Play is sad, melancholy, and even dour. I can only partially
agree. I hear joy. While many of the lyrical themes are about hardship,
pain, and doom, the feeling the songs put into my heart are shining and
radiant. Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad puts me on top of the hill on a
perfect day, breeze whispering, sun shining, my arms outstretched and lifted
above me as I watch the clouds pass. (kind of like those Claritin
commercials) Natural Blues feels like a release, not a complaint of
troubles, but a sharing of them and a sense of community that I suppose my
imagination has conjured from nowhere. Or has it? The quieter songs are the
slowing of the heartrate after the full-tilt swingin'. Okay, so I can see
the sadder aspect of this album, but the uplifting elements are so much
stronger for me. It was well-spoken by those of us who described it as
'spiritual' and 'transcendant'. In a way, it's like finding peace and
happiness on the far side of pain, the satisfaction of living through it and
discovering something better afterwards. These doors are open, you just have
to beleive they're there. Ok, I'm getting nonsensical, so I'll rejoin you
with more thoughts later when I can convey them clearly. Keep on playing and
having fun.
