  38. Just gonna blather through the basic introduction stuff.

  40. My name is Sarah, I'm 22, I live in Seattle Washington, but am originally
  41. from Southeast Alaska.
  42.  
  43. I don't have a massive Moby collection but enough to quench a Moby thirst
  44. every once in awhile; I have Everything is Wrong (my fave), Move, and
  45. Rare: The Collected B-Sides 1989-1993.  I'm also a big mp3 addict so if
  46. you wanna trade or have any Moby mp3z or know where I can get some, let me
  47. know.  :)

  49. I have seen Moby in person twice.  Once during his "Animal Rights" tour in
  50. Seattle @ the RKCNDY in November of 1997.  I was hoping to meet him after
  51. that show because I had such an amazing time and wanted to give him a hug
  52. but I waited outside for awhile and left after waiting for about 15
  53. minutes.  Much to my dismay I learned the next day that he had stayed
  54. afterwards, *inside*, and signed stuff and chatted with people.  I was
  55. crushed.
  56.  
  57. I got my chance to make up for that missed chance recently when Moby made
  58. an appearance at ARO.space here in Seattle on the 21st of May with DJ's
  59. Mark Farina and Heather.  He was scheduled to do a meet and greet and then
  60. possibly a dj set.  I was happy to see that he was going to be dj'ing as
  61. I'd never had a chance to catch him spin.  He made eye contact with me a
  62. few times while he was spinning and we smiled at each other while I was
  63. dancing.  When it looked like he was finished, taking off his headphones,
  64. I leaned over by him and asked him for just one more.  He smiled and
  65. obliged us with 2 more records.  
  66.  
  67. After his set I got a chance to quickly chat with him telling him how much
  68. fun I had at his Nov 97 show and he said "thank you.  oh at the RKCNDY".
  69. What a good memory!  I nodded yes and told him how disappointed I was that
  70. I didn't get to talk to him afterwards because of my foolish mistake of
  71. waiting outside; all this time while we're chatting he is holding my hand.
  72. He said with a silly grin, "i'm a bit of a loser and stick around after
  73. the shows."  Awww so cute.  I smiled and laughed a bit....then he asked me
  74. my name and said that he was going downstairs to get a drink.  I said okay
  75. and told him I was gonna go in the other room to check out Mark Farina
  76. spinning.  He said "I'll meet you down there then."  I told him "if you
  77. can find me!" and smiled and walked away.
  78.   
  79. The club was *packed* and there was no way he was gonna find me if he
  80. indeed looked for me!!  :)  Mark Farina's set was *amazing* and I had a
  81. blast dancing.  Afterwards I wandered out into the main hallway and stood
  82. chatting with some friends and Moby was there talking with some people.
  83.  
  84. Finally he was done talking with them, he glanced around the room, caught
  85. my eyes and smiled with a bit of recognition going over his face.  I
  86. approached him again and told him that I had an old flyers from his 97
  87. show that I meant to get signed back then....better late then never I
  88. suppose!  He smiled and said, "wow they're even faded".  :)  He proceeded
  89. to draw a little picture of what looks like a turtle'ish cartoon and a
  90. "(heart) moby" on it.  While he was doing that we talked a bit more about
  91. his show and where he was going in the near future.  
  92.  
  93. The club was closing so I shyly asked him if I could have a hug and he
  94. looked a little taken aback, like he wasn't expecting anyone to want to
  95. hug him, then he looked touched.  He leaned over kissed my cheek and said
  96. "sure"; leaned in to hug me, but then remembered he had his glasses in his
  97. pocket.  He stepped back a little, said, "oops, my glasses.  better take
  98. them out of my pocket.  it has to be an *enthusiastic* hug!".  Then he
  99. smiled at me and gave me a big, long, tight hug.  It was indeed an
  100. *enthusiastic* hug!  After what felt like minutes we stepped away from
  101. each other, smiling, he held my hand and kissed me on the cheek again and
  102. I said thank you.  He was smiling at me (I actually can't remember what he
  103. said here; I was in such a daze from that fabulous hug!) and I gave him
  104. one final thank you, squeezed his hand, said goodnight and then bye.  
  105.  
  106. I got such an adrenaline rush from getting a chance to finally talk to him
  107. that I walked all the way home, not once putting on my coat, even though I
  108. was sweaty and it was a bit chilly out!
  109.  
  110. Phew!  That was very longwinded wasn't it?!  I hope you made it this far!
  111. 'Cause I'm not done.
  112.  
  113. Some other artists that move me are Bjork (i loooooove this girlie soooo
  114. much), Underworld, Smiths/Morrissey, Gus Gus, Portishead, Orbital, Nina
  115. Simone, Chris Isaak, Rabbit in the Moon, Morcheeba, BT, Asian Dub
  116. Foundation, and more and more and more.
  117.  
  118. I am what the general public considers a "raver", but I hate that word and
  119. all it's negative connotations.  I'm just a person who loves dancing
  120. all nigth and listening to all different kinds of music.  I am into trance
  121. (progressive, hard, epic), house (hard, booty, deep), jungle (dark,
  122. jumpup,tech), drum'n'bass (I love the asian influenced d'n'b, like Asian
  123. Dub Foundation and Bad Marsh & Shri), techno (minimal), ambient, etc.
  124.  
  125. I love collecting mixtapes of all kinds of different genres from different
  126. dj's so if anyone wants to trade mixtapes I would love to get some from a
  127. different part of the country, or different part of the world (not sure
  128. how far this list reaches).
  129.  
  130. Anyway....I'm glad to be here; not sure how long I'll stick around...I'm a
  131. pretty frequent mailing list "hopper" and am on multiple other mailing
  132. lists so we'll see how things go I guess.

  318. OH YES!! acid lounge brilliance! does'nt sound like
  319. either of there solo music. any of it! best if
  320. listened to from beginning to end...loudly!!

  323. and never heard album of 98...sven vath-fusion. it's a
  324. beautiful album! try it out if you like his older
  325. stuff. it far surpasses anything he's put out.

  446. believe.

  523. I have a 2 CD set called Textures. Its a mix album. CD1 is by Darren 
  524. Emerson, CD2 is by Alex Patterson - is this the one u got? Only Moby 
  525. relevance is a mix of Move on CD1 (very mellow almost unrecognizable)

  541. to spend a month or so in Seattle in August/September. Maybe we'll see each

  544. Your story reminded me of my friend Chloe, who actually *made out* with Moby 
  545. the last time he was in Mpls. (I left it off the transcription, but when I 
  546. interviewed him he actually remembered her. Pretty damn funny.) It think

  548. thought)
