Subject: (mobility) re:off topic-jennafur....easy people, it's nice!
ok, everybody take a breath and relax. imagine
that novio is playing. which it is for me. when i
recieved jennafurs email love theme was playing, then
grace. and man do i feel way low right about now. sad
might even be the right word. but i want to keep it
short-so let me move on.
first, in your follow up email you mentioned how
the issue was "perhaps" resolved. well..no...actually.
but that's not the point. someone else had said i was
a "man" for apologizing, well i have'nt had the balls
yet to apologize to kelly, nor her email addres-i
deleted all the messages. so let me make an attempt to
reconcile here on the list. while i don't agree with
most of what kelly said(or jennafur),the way i
responded was ridiculous,childish,offensive and just
plain silly. particullarly the one email i sent kelly
off the list. there is no excuse for that type of
behavior and i am offering my sincere apology!(man,
i'm doing that too much lately).
i do not want to make this a big deal, but(calmly
now) i do feel that what kelly said was pointing
fingers at both myself and men in general. and that
she did it on purpose to make people angry and get a
nasty response. so that's what she got. it was over
the top-but so where many of the things that she
posted FIRST! you make several valid
points(jennafur)about what i said, but i don't think i
was reading between the lines. i very carefully read
her posting 4 times before responding to try and
understand where it was coming from...but i don't. i
would like to add that she asked people to flame at
her. and a selfish imp..my,my is that the best you
could do?^_^ i don't have a problem with differing
opinions. i have a problem with personal attacks.
which i am as guilty of as you or kelly.
and yes i realize that your message was supposed
to be an example... but come on! flame off the
list-you had my email address. i did not start the
whole argument. and the single line that i did write
was misinterpreted so badly that it started this
entire fiasco. so again, while i think a lot of what i
wrote was valid, i do apologize to all parties
involved for the way it was delivered.
and i apologize for the length and content of
this posting ahead of time, it may be my last one
anyway, and i kind of wanted everyone to hear it. i
really thought we where past this whole
man/woman-woman/man thing. i know i am. i love all my
bothers and sisters equally. this is very hard because
we really don't know anything about each other when it
get's right down to it. and nothing i say can MAKE you
change your mind. but personally, i don't understand
why giving your opinion of how someone looks ("hot" or
cute or fine or whatever)is judging them as a person.
it's simple human nature to see someone attractive and
think about it. male or female-coming from a male or a
female. i love to pick out attractive men for my
female friends when we go out-so what does that say.
gahh...whatever. i'm rambling. sorry to have caused
such drama people! it was not my intention.
plur-christian

some months ago i listened to absolutely nothing but underwater or at least
my 2 favorite tracks of it. i listened to it for something like three days
repeating over and over. my stereo is almost always never off wether i'm
playing my guitar or something, or if i'm gone-whatever. in this case, my
stereo was on for like three days; in my sleep, while i was gone and all
that. i don't think i've ever been effected so deeply before by music. my
soul was calmed and detached from everything and i started to begin to wonder
what the hell was wrong with me. for three days. sometimes i go on music
strike, and listen to nothing. very simelar. i was so emotional and
soulfilled. i don't understand why everybody can not feel this content. if
you haven't ever heard underwater, make it a point to. if it's impossible
for you to get, email me, send me a tape and i'll send it back with

sorry.
i'm just letting you know in advance that tomorrow o the next day, i'm going
to upload another winamp skin. i know that i say this every time, but this
really is my favorite. it's theme is Run On. it has a wooden floored
backround and is red and brown and why am i bothering to say this, you'll see
it soon-
oh yeah!!-for an open/eject button, there is a hole in the floor-boards and
when you hit the button, a little mouse head popps up. i was get a little
carried away makin it's head pop up.
anyway, the reason i tell you in advance is to make sure you know about a
little plug-in for winamp. i think it's called tixifont or something like.
it changes the main screens font to one that you specify. you can change the
color and size of the font and all that. i suggest it. from on onn i'll
make winamp skins to suit it with no box holding the ugly text bmp. it's
almost completely finished. i havent yet made a playlist for it, but i think
i'll use one of my old ones.
a preview picture of MOBY/Run On wa-skin iz @:

the winamp plugin can be found at winamp.com's plugins section

Subject: (mobility) GO! remix competition (& btw 'gwen')
Hello ppl.
While at Borders this morning I saw the May, 1999 issue of FUTURE MUSIC (a
UK electronic-musician magazine that comes with a CD each month). This
month they are having a GO! REMIX COMPETITION. It isn't a Moby interview,
but it has several pictures (one of him in his studio) and gives the
step-by-step rundown of how he created GO! The winner of the contest will
have their remix featured on an upcoming Future Music CD. Good way for one
of us -unheard of artists- to get a little exposure.
RE: The recent 'gwen' thread
No Doubt is terrible IMHO, but that's not really what this is about is it?
It's about out-tuffing each other, who can be top of the heap, who can talk
the loudest, etc. I've noticed that people only scream 'Off topic' when it
somehow enrages/insults them personally or when it is something that they
disagree with. It actually has nothing to do with Moby. My conclusion:
Flames can be melodramatic and fun (especially when bored), but why don't we
start a new one? ;-]>

i saw the new manic street preachers video on much music... you know, that
one with the insanely long title... "if you tolerate this then your
children will be next". all i can say is, man, that video reminded me of
moby for some strange reason. the colours, the tone, everything. for all
i knew, it could have been a moby video.
totally weird.
btw, to everyone else who gets much, its been said that run on has been
played during video flow during the past few weeks. it could be true, but i
haven't seen it yet. all i keep seeing is that catchy (and therefore one
step away from being evil) Wild Wild West song. sheesh.

yeah, Mobys "Bodyrock" lost the cagematch last night.
and guess who it lost to? I C FUCKING P!!!
oh sure, Insane Clown Posse is much better than
Moby.....
the song "Another Love Song" by ICP first of all is by
ICP so it sucks. on top of that, they completely rip
the melody off from "Jackass" by Beck, and the words
include such delectable lines as "remember when i
killed your precious cat and stuffed it in your
mailbox?" oh thats romantic.
and the stupid dj, Pyke (or "Pykie" as one of the
British djs on 104 once called him...thats supposed to
be a bad word in England, she said...i dunno she said
it not me!) said after the Moby song "watch out at 104
fest, Moby's been known to snatch people's girls" or
sumthin. then after the ICP song he says "honestly,
that song put a tear in my eye!" yeah, like Moby is a
fucking mean old fuckoff you should stay away from who
will rape your girlfriend and ICP are rolemodels you
should name your kids after!!! (sarcasm, SARCASM!)
then again, we all know how corrupt commercial radio
is. this is no real surprise.
oh yes, the song? its ok. Fatboy Slim would have done
it more convincingly, but its good. not his best song,
not the best one on the album. but its good. its Moby,
i like it.
okay bye now! EMAIL MTV feedback@mtv.com TELL THEM TO
PUT SIFL & OLLY BACK ON! NOW! ITS BEEN OFF AIR FOR TWO
FREAKIN WEEKS AND WE WANT IT BACK! IT IS BY FAR THE

"kelbert" <bergstrom@globalserve.net> asked:
"What determines which songs become singles? Does the artist pick them?
If so what criteria do they use? Do the managers pick them? IF so what
criteria do THEY use? "
I cannot say for sure, but it's likely a combination of all of the
above. For those who are familiar with the music group Erasure,
they released a single called "Stay With Me". It was considered a
commercial failure and likely damaged the success of the following album
and singles that came from it. From my understanding, the label boss
Daniel Miller had a very large influence in choosing that song as the
leading single for the album. Vince & Andy (of Erasure) trusted his
intuition and decided to follow it. Sadly it did not work out.
(I do have high regards for Daniel Miller, he runs a great label)
Now as for Moby, I was curious about whom the major influence was behind
choosing the single "Run On". My curiosity stemmed from the opinion
that the song would require an open mind and several listens before
people overall would catch onto it. I say this because it's
how I approached the song myself.
Moby said "well, it was a sort of joint decision. we wanted a single
that kind of reflected the album. it was a choice between 'natural
blues' and 'run on', and somehow 'run on' won." Moby didn't define
who was involved in the joint decision but I would assume that part
of the people back at Mute were involved in this more than those at V2.
Strictly my opinion! Since I'm reading into things... I'm wondering if
Moby was leaning toward "Natural Blues" rather than "Run On"...
something I probably would have done myself. But who knows. :)
If there is another single after "Bodyrock" will it be "Natural Blues"?
Now I'm being naughty...

Steve, my friend, your email did make it through. Peek at digest #409
(http://www.xmission.com/pub/lists/mobility/archive/v01.n409), your
original post (Fri, 21 May 1999 09:55:36 PDT) starts the digest & the
one you resent (Fri, 21 May 1999 14:06:56 PDT) also ends it. :)
You also mention...

I just found out today that my quota is being increased five fold
(without having to pay extra). I don't know how soon this go into
affect but if that's the case maybe expanding the "profiles" page would
be easy on my part. But maybe I'm being ridiculous since a lot of my
pages are already out of date. I was almost at my max before, now I can
expand with more sound files, etc.
Last... and more importantly... I am praying everyone will move on
from the "bash" fest. I wonder sometimes if anyone ever reads the
introduction given to EVERYONE that has subscribed to this list (the
quoted one in particular):
> THE GOLDEN RULES: #4. The messages you send are going out to

THE GOLDEN RULES
- ----------------
1. Please keep the discussion on the list confined to that revolving
around Moby, his record label Trophy, and the pseudonyms thereof. For
example, while Puff Daddy may be a great artist to some, most members of
the list don't really care since it's not related to Moby.
2. Please keep in mind basic netiquette when making postings to the
list. When replying to a message, try to quote only the sections of the
original message that are relevant to reply and EDIT the rest. Avoid
using excessively long signatures -- while they may look fancy remember
that people will see them on your every posting and will start to looked
tired real quick (four lines or less is a good size).
3. Try to keep messages relevant to the list's topic (no general
advertisements, "warnings" about viruses, chain letters, and so
forth). The list manager has final say on whether a topic is welcome on
the list; please do your best to follow his guidance.
4. The messages you send are going out to hundreds of other people.
Please think twice before posting flames or extremely large messages to
the list. You should *never* send graphics or audio files to the list
- -- doing so may result in your subscription being canceled.
5. When posting to the list, make sure you are using the same address
that you subscribed with!!! Any address submitted to the mailing list
that is unrecognized will be returned to the sender and will not be seen
by the list members, no exceptions.
HOW TO SUBSCRIBE AND UNSUBSCRIBE
- --------------------------------
To join "mobility," send email to majordomo@lists.xmission.com with
the command "subscribe mobility" (without quotes) in the body of the
message. You will receive a confirmation message and a copy of this
information file. Once you are subscribed, you will receive each
message as it is posted to the list.
A digest version of "mobility" is also available. If you subscribe to
the digest you will receive groups of postings in a single email message
instead of one at a time. These "digests" are sent out whenever there
is a certain amount of text in the queue. It is usually best to try the
regular version of the list first and then switch to the digest if you
are getting more mail from the regular version that you can deal with
comfortably. To subscribe to the digest, send the command "subscribe
mobility-digest" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com (again, with no quotes)
in the body of the message.
Once subscribed, send your emails to mobility@lists.xmission.com
- - PLEASE NOTE - The address you subscribe must be the address you use
to send email to mobility! This list does not accept mail from non-

gets changed in the sending process it will not show up on the list.
It will get delayed and will likely be returned. This policy is helpful
in preventing SPAM from reaching the Mobility mailing list.
