OFF the MOBY topic, but a REPLY.
I guess somebody mentioned a question of girls and women in techno.
This interests me too, so i have to add several Girls making their BoomBoomBoom
into the waters of electronic music.
Liza'n Eliaz - a dutch gabber artists ( I guess mr.Van Eijck is from there, do
you know her?)
Indigo - austrian ( there are NO cangaroos in austria) house wife.
Miss DJax - germany, official Mayday artists
La.Di.Da - bohemian (former czechoslovakia) trance dj. released and album last
year. a mayday artist too.
and i have some info on Marusha, who used to be considered a Rave Queen thanx
her Somewhere Over The Rainbow and grew to a serious technomaker until now.
she has not release anything for a long time, she just said for some magazines,
that she had problems with her ears due to the time she spents on the Raves.
she might be becoming deaf, which would be to sad, but i hope she'll get well,
because i like her music a lot. (try the WIR album)
And another topic, somebody was curious about this Sharam Jay who made some mix
for Honey. I guess it's the same person who appeared on Mayday (i guess it was
two or three years ago, perhaps Mayday - Life On Mars ?). He comes from the
Middle East, IRAN, and its capital Tehrane. He mad a great deal on the Mayday
and he cooperates with mostly the german techno scene.
that's all for now, hope you are not annoyed with this offsubject posting, but
i think it is what is called a Silent Before A Storm, because i don't have the
Play CD yet, so i don't dare to say anything about moby until then . Except
that i love him :)
Again, thanx Matos for the interview, though i was a bit disappointed by some
opinions moby revealed, but maybe it was just a misunderstanding, i didn't have
much time to read it thoroughly. gee, how i would like to meet moby once....
love,
KOHUT.

She raped my cats...
i mean-geeze! no doubt has been around for
years and years before there last album. and just
because they got caught up in the whole 90's mentality
of take what's hot and pounding into everyones head
until they hate it. but gwen a madona
wannabee...hmmm...i don't see it.
You don't?
so all you people
out there with all that moby knowledge-anyone know why
he would thank gwen?
Gwen should be thanking Matt Wilder, or at least kissing his ass. If she
wasn't in No Doubt, she'd probably be in porn movies. She doesn't have any
visible musical talents. She has sex appeal, even though I think she's
dog-ugly. As long as Gwen's in the band, no one's going to accept them for
what they actually are...a good band with a horrible lead singer. I like No
Doubt, it's just Gwen I can't stand. Like Green Day. I liked the band (until
they started trashing Prodigy), but couldn't stand Billy Joe. Now I couldn't
care less about all of them.
No offense to any fans out there...

Alone is on the US Bring Back My Happiness single, too. It has the same
chord progression as Dead City, the 2nd track on Little Idiot. Alone is much
longer and has drums layered slowly. I remember reading a news story that
mentions Alone as being one of the songs that prompted Axl Rose to invite
Moby to produce for him.

manchester, uk mixtape a week ago. I'll tell you all about it in a week or
so. And there has been a massive press resonance to PLAY, I've already found
11 German magazines having an article about it (one even had 2 vegan recipes

This quizz is not something where you can win CD's or anything, I'm sorry bu=

I don't have enough Moby's Cds and/or money to give some prizes.
But you can still answer to it. As I'm doing a French site (it's finally=20

like ''Fan's Favorites''.
There, i would the most common answers to these questions :
1=B0)If you had to make a one CD Moby best of, choose the 15 tracks that wou=

makes it interesting).
Pesonnally these are:
- -Move=09(it makes me feel so good)
- -Run on (for a lon long time)=20
- -Party Time (for the piano part)
- -Barracuda (you feel alright ?)
- -Hymn=20
- -Feeling so Real
- -JBT reversion
- -Voodoo Child
- -Shining (not too much known but great)
- -Next is the E
- -Bring back my happiness
- -Everytime you touch me
- -Revolver
- -Living=20
- -Lost again (these two are really brilliant slow paced tunes)
2=B0)What is your favorite album ?
For me it's Everything is Wrong (but I don't have Play, Ambient and the End=20
of Everything)
That's all for the moment. Please send them to matthino@aol.com if there are=20
too much answers as I guess Daniel won't be really happy with having a bunch=20

Thanks a lot and relax

I love the idea of a 15-cut best-of CD, and think it should be a mandatory
extracurricular activity for any of the serious collectors on the list (if
everyone hasn't already made that list in their head at least, probably a
few times), but there's one caveat: Play isn't out in the US yet, and since
that's where most of the list's participants are from, it seems fair to give
it some time before we do something like this. I realize I'm jumping the gun
here, but in July I really think we should poll everyone on the list for
their choice cuts. Anyone agree?

Maybe we/someone/I could set up a little online voting scheme so we don't
have to send a bunch of emails and we can get a pretty good tally of all

I've actually made this cd. Except it has 17 songs (22 on the cassette
version). It's listed in the discography at www.moby.org under the title
"Jesus"
The contents are:
Hymn (This is My Dream)
All That I Need Is To Be Loved (MV)
Bring Back My Happiness (extended) vs. Move (Disco Threat)
Next Is The E
That's When I Reach For My Revolver
The Blue Light Of The Underwater Sun
Go
God Moving Over the Face of the Waters (Heat Mix)
Love Hole
Thousand*
Dog Heaven (Extended Edit)*
First Cool Hive*
Whip It (DMV)*
UHF3
Electricity
Come On Baby (UK version)
Feeling So Real (Main Edit)
Heaven
All That I Need Is To Be Loved (HOS)
Hymn
The four songs with asteriks are the ones that are on the cassettes I've
made, but not the cd-r. I'm going to make a second cd (tentatively titled
"Hypocrite") that has those four cuts, plus James Bond Theme, Honey, Vari=
ous
permutations of ETYTM, Body Rock, Machete, Graciosa, Why Can't It Stop?, =
and
other favorites. The playlist for that one is still very much in flux,
though. I like the idea of having at least one cut from each major record=
on
each cd. The only thing I'm missing on the first is End of Everything and
"Little Idiot", which were a little hard to program. But they're both
included on the second. Anybody have any suggestions for a list?

Subject: (mobility) Question
This one doesn't exactly pertain to Moby, but lets do it anyone. I remember
having the CD - Record conversation a couple times here and don't want to get
into it again. But I don't ever remember hearing this one. So, here is the
deal: you have got a great stereo. The stereo isn't important but it is
awesome. Here is the point: which is better, having a pimp ass speaker setup
or having a pimp ass pair of headphones?
I think that everysong sounds better on pimp headphones that pimp speakers,
but even so, my choice is definatly speakers. There is nothing like feeling
the bass of a song. But the main reason I love the speakers is cause,
goddammit, I want everyone else to enjoy my music too! Right? In my house, in
my apartment, in my car, or in my dorm room, I make sure that everyone can
enjoy whatever it is I am listening to. But, listening to a song an a god set
of headphones sometimes transforms the song. Anyway, anyone have any better
opinion to help me decide what to buy, better speakers or some headphones? Later.

songs. I sometimes know what track numbers on what CDs, but except for a few
songs that I love so much - hymn (any of em), next is the E, GMOTFOTW, and a
few others (incuding BODY ROCK!) - I don't know their names! So, please don't
kill me and consider me a non-fan because of this. Anyway. Later.

Mmmm...Speakers or headphones? I don't know if this will
influence you at all, but for me it's all about speakers. First of all,
it annoys the hell out of parents that way *hehe* and you're freed up to
move about a room, say if you like doing other things while listening to
music. And second, big second for me anyways, is that speakers are easier
on my ears. If I get trapped in sound it feels like my head's about to
explode. I have yet to actually find a pair of headphones I can wear
comfortably.... but obviously these are personal preferences. One biggie,
though, speakers are less damaging to your ear drums I'm thinking, since
you go the same volume but have a greater distribution space.
As for my stereo though, I doubt what I have would be called pimp
ass speakers. They play the sound, sometimes...so it works. ^_^
Obviously not a techno junkie, so I'll shut up. ^_^ Luck.

damian,
in case you, or anyone, are wondering why i thanked gwenn stefani,
here's why...
about 6 months ago someone gave gwen a copy of my demos and, as it turns
out, she's a fan. she offered to sing on one of the songs, and as i'm
always up for a bit of experimentation, i said sure.
she came to a studio in los angeles and sang on 'south side'. she was
extremely kind and down to earth and her contribution was quite good.
unfortunately i had already done a mix of 'south side' that i was happy
with so her contribution didn't find its way on to the album.
i hadn't been a big No Doubt fan before this, but she and the bass
player(tony) were so cool and so nice, that i have to give respect to
their band. so that's why i thanked her, she worked really hard on the
song and she was honestly a pleasure to hang out with.
i might add that my managers were dismayed that i opted to use a version
that didn't have her vocals on it, as they believe that radio might look
more kindly on a song with gwen stefani on it. but i liked my original
mix more. oh well, it wouldn't be the first time that i've
made a creative decision that irked my managers:-)
