I've heard all of Play now. Look at the inlay sleave, there's
capital letters. Anyway, I was wrong to saw it was a bit like AR and
EIW, I'd only heard the first 4 songs. Nice presence of guitars though.
:)
The CD wasn't brocken when sombodysat on it, case was a bit buggered, so
I swopped cases with a Garbage one.
I think with this album Moby has tried ( and succeaded) todo stuff that
will make every fan happy. I know both metal and dance fans who bought
Honey, and the whole album is a mix of styles. The first time you hear
it, only a few tracks stand out really a lot.( Porcelin, Everloving...)
But after the 22nd time you hear it you love thealbum completely and
can't stop listening to it. Buggered upmy revisionm last night.
I really loved Everloving, it alsocontains elements of one of my
favourate Moby tracks ( not Face It). Guitar Flute & String is also
wonderful. I'm not going togo on, 'cos it will probably depress all the
US/Jap fans. Anyhow, it's an amazing album, and Bodyrock will be a hit
if Mute get it played on the radio enough( or just send it to Chriss
Moyels) Fucking excelent.
And South Side I love too.

Interesting points. Very soothing and calm as well. I
always seem to come across aggressive with mine. Still, you
live and learn, no?
I like that quote at the end of your mails - is it yours
and where would it go, or is it supposed to be rhetorical?
Sorry, I'm nit-picking and it isn't Moby.
Also interesting interview Matos, especially finding out
the kind of music Moby's into. I've always thought EOE had
elements of Kraftwerk in it.

Chris - Regarding AR UK vs. USA version
I happen to have both. I actually listen to both. I like each one
depending on my moods. The songs (even though they have the same
titles) are SLIGHTLY different. I've noticed slightly extended or
different intros to some songs on each version.
UK - "My Love Will Never Die" is only on this version. Great song.
USA - has some good ambient short stuff not on UK like "Anema" (sp?)
which is great and I still think would be a great remix song. PLUS,
the USA version is SO long you get great music in your portable CD
player with ONE CD! Whooo-hooo!
I enjoy having both versions and would recommend getting both if you
don't mind the 11-15 bucks out of your bank account. Otherwise, stick
with the UK version.
Hope that helps/confuses.

1)and this is most confusing to me. i purchased animal
rights last night(and having listened to it 3 times
today already-am liking more and more). but what i got
was the uk double-because i wanted the little idiot
cd. but i did'nt have a clue that the u.s. version was
so different. are any of the different songs on the us
version "electronica"(hate that word) or more rock
like the uk cd. i see that alone is on there-and
that's a great song!!

Hi, Mobydicts:
Just a thing that's just happened and I'd like to share with you all.
When I arrived home this lunch-time, I checked my mail (not e-one, but
snail), and found a postcard referring to Moby's new album, Play.
On the writting side, besides my address of course (I see 'Spain' nowhere
in the postcard... :-?), I can read on the left side:

On the picture side, there's a photo of CD cover.
Nice surprise... I'm planning to scan it and publish it if you care
to take a look.

This is actually a perfume ad for ghost mist, I think? I know I
know...^_^ but I like it a lot, and I want it to make people think. Just
because I'm not sure the world understands that it's heading in a very
destructive circle and you have to enjoy yourself along the way...smell
the roses and all that. So I hope that at least one person thinks, oh,
yeah, where would it go? And then -goes- there! If it's a walk in the
rain, or a run on the beach...work is impt sure but what do you do with
money when you're dead? That's my whole thing.
And no, this isn't moby. But it's related. Sorry to clutter
if unwanted though. For me, it's already there. Well, no, if I let my
spirit out at this precise moment it would be in CA, with a certain person
who I'm doing horribly explaining myself to ^_^ But basically I am very
content and I ask myself that every day...you might should try it? ^_^
Alright enough muttering. ^_^ pickle

That's quite mellow. I like it. No point in
running around like a headless chicken for some

then is there? Personally I don't care if it is or isn't
Moby related. No, not going to get into 'Moby related'

OK. I bought PLAY yesterday. Especially to the person who said he is glad he
is not Japanese or American, well I am an American in Japan, but I got PLAY -
from a store (HMV) - before even you Brits did. So enough of that. Just
because the Japanese RELEASE doesn't come out till June whatever, we get the
English release before you guys do because we are half a day ahead of you.
Anyway, I know I bitched and complained about how RUN ON and HONEY suck and
how I couldn't understand why the B-SIDES of those two singles weren't on
PLAY. Well, this email is to all you Americans (I'll be homein 4 days) waitign
for PLAY to come out. It is very pimp. I like it a lot, and it is nothing like
EIW or AR or anything. It is the same in that there is a lot of variety, but
there is no metal/rock really, and there is no dance songs like on EIW. But I
want to say this. Moby has finally done it. If he was ever meant to get big,
this is his chance. BODY ROCK, which comes out in single when?, is so awesome!
And the reason I say this is his chance is because if I didn't know I was
listening to PLAY and I heard BODY ROCK, my first guess would be Chemical
Brothers. It is along those CM, Fat Boy Slim, CB, type song, but because it is
MOBY it is pimp! After reading Matos's interview, I think Moby made this song
to get back at Prodigy and CB... Maybe. Anyway, I also like the Moby singing
and the Moby talking stuff. Interesting. The one thing I don't like about this
CD is it doesn't flow as, say, the new Orbital where if you aren't watching
the CD player, you can't tell when one track ends and the other begins.
(Except for Style). The songs on PLAY are too short. And one of those Ambient
songs at the end is AWESOME! Actually, this CD did something that none of the
50/60 CDs I have bought in Japan has made me do - Unhook my Discman and go buy
headphones (which by the way are so cool - not out in America yet) and stick
Moby in and go. I was actually walking down the streets in Toyko moving to the
music. Even HONEY got me moving! But anyway, the CD is great, sorry to you
guys who don't have it yet.
Also, what is the deal with Moby thanking GWEN STEFFANI? The same Gwen from No
Doubt right? Was it him who said she has the greatest voice? I can't remember.
Also, what is the deal with HONEY, RUN ON, and BODY ROCK being the three
singles, and also being the three songs that he used samples from released
songs? Any connection. And after seeing the pictures of Moby jumping around, I
will say it appears to act healthy (after reading his VEGAN essay) but he
doesn't look it. Maybe I will bring him a great big steak from RUTH CHRIS when
we get to see him in Hartford. Anyway, just my views/thoughts/opinions after
one day and a few listens. Later.

Well, before anyone asks ...
Ruth Chris is a very nice/swanky steak house in the USA. I am guessing
they have restaurants in most major cities in the USA, but I have only
been to the one in Beverly Hills. I'd have to say I had a great time
there (because I wasn't paying for the steak or the drinks!, it's
pretty expensive).
Hope that helps.

Sorry to ask you to help me again but being quite frustrated that my disc
shop (do we say disc shop BTW ?) thinks that Moby is an american rapper (I'll
give him a good kick in the a**) and so that Play will be released for a
long time before being back here, I would like to stop being ignorant on two
or three things :
Is EIW dj mix album a reedition with the original or stands by itself ?
I have AR from Mute (One Cd, finishing by Love song for my mom ...) Is it
necessary to buy a new version ?
SSF or Moby ?
Instinct Dance or Early Underground ?
Having the chance to go to Paris once, I found in a little corner near the
ashbox and the f****** Trance and hardcore stuff (I'm sorry for those who
listens to this s***) Run On and Honey singles. Definitly brilliant, thes are
smashing hits but the b sides are excellent also (Memory Gospel , Spirit ...)
Again is it necessary ti buy the Honey-Run On single, or the Run on
(Extended) one...
There are so many hits of Moby's tracks. What are the good ones for hymn (The
European is definitly magic), FSR (unnable) and Everytime You touch me ?
Thanks a lot, have a good night, keep cool and please think of those who
can't get this ********************* CD of PLAY . AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH !

hey-i'm pretty new here on the list-but have a lot of
moby. here's what i know. first-the discography at
moby.org rocks!! very very thurough.
ok-
> Is EIW dj mix album a reedition with the original or
> stands by itself ?
the eiw mixed-remixed is a double cd containing many
of the 12" and cd single remixes from the eiw album.
mixed-of course-by moby. it is a VERY good album and
definitely stands on it's own. it also has a couple of
the really hard to find mixes on it-and includes stuff
from the move ep as well.
> I have AR from Mute (One Cd, finishing by Love song
> for my mom ...) Is it
> necessary to buy a new version ?
i just bought the double uk cd. and the second cd is a
beautiful ambient disc. i'm not sure what version you
have. how many songs? if it does'nt have any of the
ambient songs(no drums or guitar or screeming)i
recomend you get the other version as well. but that's
just my opinion. the extra cd(little idiot) is just so
damn beautiful.
> SSF or Moby ?
check the dicography-moby.org-for this one. but if you
don't have all the single from the "moby" era. the ssf
cd has a couple of extra/different songs. go(woodtick)
and thousand. maybr another next is the e.
> Instinct Dance or Early Underground ?
i'm a little confused here to-hmmm....hold on! ok-it
appears that instinct dance has some of the same songs
as the "moby" album. while early underground has some
of the songs that are on instinct dance but also a lot
of others-got that ;-] the "early" moby 12" work under
different names. it's my opinion(just my opinion) that
if you get early underground, moby,& rare-you're set
with the older stuff.
Again is it necessary ti buy the Honey-Run On
> single, or the Run on
> (Extended) one...
don't have either yet-someone else will have to get
that one.
> There are so many hits of Moby's tracks. What are

> Everytime You touch me ?
i'll say that hymn is one of my favorite moby tracks
ever!! and if you like ambient music-hunt down
hymn.alt.quiet.version 33 minutes of heaven(uhhh..no
pun intended). also both of the 12" where mind
blowing!! beautiful mixes!! but i've heard there hard
to find. but once again check the discography-it's
huge!! but worth the time!
> Thanks a lot, have a good night, keep cool and
