I just wanted to comment on something Jayson ? said about Moby's
videos. I haven't personally seen any of Moby's videos, and none of most
other ones, either. But taking what I've heard to heart, I can understand
completely why Moby would say "Great coffee" even if he had once said
"coffee is poison." I'm not sure that it's very fair to question his
integrity when a video is involved. I understand Moby is a seasoned
professional by now, but even he is controlled to some extent by his
record company, and thus by the producers of his videos. So it's quite
possible that he was told to say it for a specific image. Another
possibility is that he merely wanted to confuse people. If I were famous,
and I knew people got so picky about details, I'd have a field day. I
think it's the same thing with the car; mainly the producer/director
wanted him to drive a car.
Now I'm not trying to say nit-picking is wrong; I do it a lot.
And it starts some great discussions...but I was slightly bothered by the
implication that every action, public or private, is under scrutiny and is
cause for being called a "hypocrite," or infered to be one. It's been
said before, and I hate to be redundant, but people do not live their
lives wondering how they will be percieved, and you should focus on that
rather than on whether they've placed themselves in the spotlight. I want
to sing. Badly. And I have no problem if people talk smack about me.
But to some extent there should be an understanding. He's human, first
off...he'll do some very human things. And second off, you can only ever
*at most!* see half of what's going on.
I'm sorry if this seems aimed at anyone, Jayson, or others. I
just wanted to add some commentary on the subject. I mean no offense, I
really love listening to you guys. ^_^ Alright. There's my two bits.

The US version has 1 exclusive song, "Anima", and the rest is a combo of the
UK AR & LI. It has all the rock songs from AR UK except "My Love Will Never
Die", a favorite of mine.
>2)has little idiot ever been released as a single cd?
No.

My guess is that it made the CD a lot longer in length, but I really don't
know...

As I understand, the releases are the same but for the name. There is a
Brainstorm on R&S (located in Belgium, I think) that caused a conflict in
using the Brainstorm name in Europe.

Yep, just one.

It was never released apart from being the bonus disc for EIW. It's now very
difficult to locate. Good luck.
> d-no buttons to push
This is about 1:20 in length, a funky bassline, a cool Jimi Hendrix sample.
A neat novelty.
> e-hymn(upriver)(hymn is a personal fave)
Very drummy mix, reminds me of Morning Dove a little, "we be jammin" sample.
Try to get the UK 12" w/ Upriver, Dirty Hypo (my fave Hymn), This Is My
Dream, and Laurent's Wake Up. Cool picture sleeve.
> f-sim1(this in particular-becasue i have the higher

Haven't listened to this in a while, but as I recall it has this weird aqua
sample that I swear is sampled from Orb's Pomme Fritz...

Quiet, simple ambient song. EOE Voodoo Child.
> j-u1 he fu
A faster, harder Blue Light Of The Underwater Sun. More evil.
> m-mad love
This is built on a Chaka Khan sample. I found this record in a catalog once,
but the store didn't have it anymore by the time I contacted them. Lost
forever? Maybe.
Keep replying to this one, folks, let's get this man some better answers.
Those were half-assed and off the top of my head, I'll try to do them more
justice later.

You may already know about this, so my apologies if I state the obvious, but
this problem with Hotmail that you mention has happened to me many times as
well. Here's what I've learned to do when a time out occurs.
- --push 'back' on the browser
- --select all the text
- --Edit 'copy'
- --dial up/log on again
- --Hotmail 'compose'
- --Edit 'paste' in the message window
like I said you may already know this but it certainly has spared me many a
headache so...there it is. :)

Subject: (mobility) nice to meet you
I am sad to report that as of yet, I have no moby collection. I simply saw
the Run on video the other night on 120 minutes and fell in love with it. I
recorded it and watch it all the time. The very next day on a routine trip
to Streetside Records (our local music store) I found a flyer for Moby's new
release: Play (due for us US folk in June:() Anyway, I am interested in
learning more about him and want to know if there is a specific cd anyone
would recommend for a beginning listener. Any info about me? I'm sixteen
(a youngen) and my music selection is a wide variety. It can go from Dave
Matthew Band to the Clash. My favorites I guess are the Clash, Beastie
Boys, and Bjork. I also like elektronica stuff from Fat Boy Slim. I don't
know I'm not really picky with music, which is why I want to learn more
about Moby. I'm not sure where this email is going but if it is going to
lots of people, nice to meet you all.

Well, I personally would recommend his "MOBY" album..
or for a more modern one, "Everything Is Wrong".
Those two should hold you til June 1.. I really recommend
getting PLAY when its out.
hope that helps,

Hey Christian. I believe that the US version is simply a reordering of the
same songs. It combines LI and AR UK. If I'm wrong then I'll have to run
out and buy the US version!
>2)has little idiot ever been released as a single cd?
Not that I'm aware of. According to other list members that I've talked to,
LI is a little harder to come by these days.
>5)was there really only one version of the vc

Do you have the CD or the 12"? I've got the 12" and it's pretty damn long.
I think each song is 15 min. or something.

Like LI, this one is quite elusive. I'm kicking myself for not buying it
when it came out. I think MOBY should put out a double CD w/some of his
instrumental ambient stuff. Repackaged, etc. with all the hard to come by
material.
>7)here's a kind of long list of moby songs that i
>have'nt heard.
> d-no buttons to push
This one was on the Voodoo Child Remixes 12" I believe (my vinyl is in a
Public Storage unit, 30 min. away...). It's really short, only a minute
long. I believe the sample is Jimi Hendrix saying 'No Buttons to Push' while
a slower hip hop beat grooves along.
> f-sim1(this in particular-becasue i have the higher
> 12"-is it worth purchasing the cd for this song)
Sim1: This is a 14 minute song. I like it a lot. Trancey and ethereal for
lack of a better description. Minimalistic, subtle changes (echoed
keyboards fading in & out, etc.)
OK, some answers to a few of your questions, but I don't claim to be a MOBY
expert. Hope it helps.
