Hey Chris - what's up?
Yeah, there are a BUNCH of us in Chicago. There is a Virgin Megastore
downtown, although I have not been there. I've been really successful
shopping-wise going to Crow's Nest, in the DePaul (University) building
off of Jackson and State. Their "electronica" section is pretty good, and
I've found some good Moby imports there.
As for shows, the only thing I've heard of is that rumor or the July 4th
show with Crystal Meth, etc. And that's still rumor...right?

wow! thanks to everybody who had a suggestion or a
positive comment regarding my cd loss. but it is just
that-my loss!! it was shipped ups ground and no
signature was specified by sender. i did try
everything you guys suggested(short of the "who signed
for it" bit, becasue noone had to sign-but it was a
good idea). so-also, whoever was offering the used
animal rights cd-THANK YOU SO MUCH! but i had to go
buy it!! my mail has really been frustrating me
lately. have won several things on ebay lately that
have taken WAY too long to get to me. and i really
wanted to hear it. but now i have to say-i'm not sure
about it. some of it i like a lot. now i let go/face
it/living/love song for my mom. and i'm sure some of
it will grow on me-but i have to say(please don't send
me to much hate mail)that i really don't like moby's
singing all that much-and i wish he would have used
more live drumming-ya know-like taken it all the
way-becasue i think he is a fine guitar player-but
theres just something missing from a lot of the songs.
the magic is'nt there. eh...just my opinion.
BUT!!!!!!! i LOVE the little idiot cd. again in my
opinion-it's better than the ambient cd-and i really
really like the ambient cd. but the little idiot cd
had the magic i was looking for. could be that i'm
getting really sick(just after i told a friend i
had'nt been sick in like forever-hi anne!! yes i found
her)and am feeling kinda kicked around-but the overall
melancholy mood of the cd really hit me-i left it on
repeat all night! really good stuff!! i'm bummed
though becasue in my order was also both honey cd's
and i really want to hear those too.
so thanks again everyone!! and i'm still jealous of
all you people that just got play! my local tower
did'nt have ANY! copies of ANY! of the honey or run on
singles . bummer.

moby, if you're listening, you talked about music as a sort of soundtrack
to your life. well, "everything is wrong" is definatly (sp?) mine and my
girlfriend's. almost four years ago we met, and whenever we listen to
"eiw" we are reminded of the good old days. it's such a good album! it's
summer and good times and good friends and beautiful nights and all that.
it will always be a reminder of happiness for me, today and fifty years
from now. "when it's cold..." is always devistating and "feeling so real"
is possibly the best song you've ever done.
thank you!

I just wanted to make a comment that I get all goose-bumply when MOBY
does FSR live. Wow, it is so powerful and makes you want to rejoice in
being alive. I really feel MOBY's energy flow out to the audience on
that song. Quite possibly his best song live IMHO. I just get excited
when he plays that.

Before I begin what this message is really about, I just want to
mention that today is the last day of a CDnow sale that gives you
$10 off on a purchase of $14.99 or more. Sounds like a good time
to advance order _Play_, buy the _Honey and Run On_ single, pick
up the Star Wars soundtrack, etc. :) Anyways...
During my hectic marathon Spring semester, I fell way behind on
reading mobility messages. Steve Giles posted a link to Moby stuff
that is on MTV's website. From there, I went to a story that had
some preliminary information on _Play_, including a preliminary
track listing.
http://www.mtv.com/news/gallery/m/moby990325.html
Besides being in a slightly different order, the list lacks "If
Things Were Perfect", and instead has a song called "Good Love",
which it says Moby does vocals on. Has anybody ever heard of this?
I wonder if it's a different song that got switched at the last
minute.
For posterity (uh...), this is the tracklisting that MTV lists that
did not come to pass.
- "Honey"
- "Porcelain"
- "South Side"
- "Bodyrock"
- "Machete"
- "Good Love"
- "The Sky Is Broken"
- "Find My Baby"
- "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad"
- "Rushing"
- "Natural Blues"
- "7"
- "Run On"
- "Slow Down"
- "Everloving"
- "Inside"
- "Guitar, Flute & String"
- "My Weakness"
Stay tuned for my review of the real PLAY.

hey um, in the new Moby video "Run On" which AMP just
played yesterday, he drinks some coffee and says
"Mmmmm... great coffee!"
i thought Moby once said "coffee is poison"???
i mean i love coffee but like this is so weird to see
this.
but then again the "Honey" video hes driving a car
so...
speaking of "Honey" they played it on 104 last night
on their non-rotation show "Spinning Unrest", for no
reason than to promote their stupid show. thats one
thing that sux about 104, they book all these bands
like the Lo-Fi Allstars and Moby and like local bands
that they would never fucking play, and they put them
on their concert but they never play them. it's
exactly like MTV, when they have shows like Sifl &
Olly and AMP and 120 Minutes that they never
advertise. those are the 3 best shows on the channel,
actually the only 3 good shows, and they dont give dip
shit about them.
speaking of 120, anyone see the RADIOHEAD special last
night? i taped it. ROCK!
also, has anyone noticed that that Britney Spears song
(the first one not the new one) sounds a little bit
like "Honey"? maybe i posted that already... oh well.
bye!

Some comments Chris:
- How about that ANEMA?? Too bad MOBY didn't do some remixes of that.
It's great (didn't someone comment on it recently??). SAY, how about
someone remixing that for THANKS II! That would be cool.
- The LIttle Idiot CD I would agree is nice. I like it too.
- Chris, I'm surprised TOWER doesn't have ANY of the new SINGLES. Do
you have an HMV in SanFran? I went to the one in Downtown Boston (not
the largest store compared to the HMV in Cambridge which is great) and
HMV had about 20 (count-em 20!) HOney/Run-on singles in stock on the
shelves. I was impressed. Check out HMV if ya have one out there.

Q: Orbital interviewed Moby for Streetsound. Who did Moby interview?
A: Sven Vath.
Q: What was Moby's father's occupation?
A: chemistry professor
Q: Name two bands Moby played with while they were touring.
A: Flipper & Ultra Vivid Scene
Last Friday evening I fell asleep upon arriving home from work, and woke too
late contact any friends to go out with. So I decided to transcribe the
whole of the UR chicago interview that I posted a snippet of last week. What
better to do with a bottle of bourbon and Star Wars trailers downloading
ever so slowly? Unfortunately, I was typing it out in hotmail, which timed
me out of my email box right after I finished but before I could send. So it
was all lost. (made me feel like I was Homer Simpson. doh!) At least I got
some good trailers successfully. Perhaps I'll muster the determination again
to do it sometime in the future. In the meantime, Matos' interview will have
to content you. And thanks for that.
Anybody looking for a US Feeling So Real single? It's 9 tracks, the 2 UK
singles combined into one, nothing missing, nothing extra. Let me know and
I'll nab it. Saw it last night I did. (thanks for the syntax Yoda) There's
only 1 at the store and it's $4.99, I beleive.
I'm eagerly waiting to hear Play reactions. Don't be shy, all!

i have been pouring my seriously tired &
sick(really-hit me saturday-i'm sooo dying) brain into
the discography at moby.org-and i have some questions?
i could really use some help-so if anybody would like
to email me privatley-i'm cool with that-i will leave
email address at buttom.
1)and this is most confusing to me. i purchased animal
rights last night(and having listened to it 3 times
today already-am liking more and more). but what i got
was the uk double-because i wanted the little idiot
cd. but i did'nt have a clue that the u.s. version was
so different. are any of the different songs on the us
version "electronica"(hate that word) or more rock
like the uk cd. i see that alone is on there-and
that's a great song!!
2)has little idiot ever been released as a single cd?
3)anybody know why animal sight on uk version on teoe
and reject on u.s.?
4)dumb one here-but is help me to believe from
mindstorm the same version as the moby album.
5)was there really only one version of the vc
demons/horses release? mine does'nt seem to be that
long.
6)i remember when everything is wrong came out-i saw
the underwater version. but already had the us regular
version and the underwater version was like $30 or
something. so is there anyway to get that cd? and
again-has it(like little idiot) ever been released as
it's own single cd. and if so-why have'nt they been?
little idiot is beautiful!! and now i'm on the mad
hunt for underwater. anybody want to sell one?:)
7)here's a kind of long list of moby songs that i
have'nt heard. if anybody has heard them and was
willing to be so kind as to describe or review them or
whatever-before i go off the deep end trying to find
them-it would be greatly appriciated.
a-breathe(sounds fimiliar-damn the prodigy)
b-next is the e(the tekk)
c-i feel it(continuous & invisible brothers)
d-no buttons to push
e-hymn(upriver)(hymn is a personal fave)
f-sim1(this in particular-becasue i have the higher
12"-is it worth purchasing the cd for this song)
g-frog
h-tan ta ra
i-republican party
j-u1 he fu
k-smack
l-verb:that's what's happening
m-mad love
i know it's a long list-but any help would be great!
